Buyers beware of Gracie aka Diana Mason

to all buyers possibly interested in the 1.4 100% het for blizzard gecko group that Gracie aka Diana Mason is selling.
My son was interested in this group and Diana emailed a picture and at first said she would sell them to him for $140.00 shipped. He talked to me about them and I decided that I would get them Diana had said the previous buyer had backed out. When I talked to her on the phone on 3/19/2003 she said the price was $150.00 so I still said ok. I sent her the money via paypal and she recieved it right away I asked when she would ship these out and she said on Thursday 3/20/2003 UPS next day air and I said fine.
On Thursday 3/20/2003 my son called her for the tracking number and she said she didn't ship them because UPS wanted $112.00 to ship, now I don't live around the world I live in Indiana and she lives in PA. so I know for a fact that it doesn't cost that because I have relatives that work for UPS and they said there is no way.
Diana said she would ship them out on Monday 3/24/2003 via USPS and I agreed that would be fine. Monday came and I called her for the tracking number and sure enough she didn't ship , when asked why not she said she was going to keep them instead.
I said that was fine and I asked her to refund my $150.00 via paypal the same way she recieved it and she informed me she couldn't because she didn't have it. I would have to wait until Friday 3/28/2003 to get it because that is when she got paid . I told her that wasn't right that I shouldn't have to wait for my money when she got it right away. I also have some friends that inquired about the 1.4 het for blizzard gecko group and she said that the buyer backed out and they were still available..FIRST OF ALL I DIDN'T BACK OUT SHE DECIDED TO KEEP THEM.. then she emailed us and said that if I sent her $112.00 she would ship them....I DON'T THINK I WILL EVER SEND THIS WOMAN ANY MONEY EVER AGAIN......AND ANYONE ELSE THINKING OF DOING BUSINESS WITH HER BETTER HOLD ONTO THEIR CASH YOU TO MIGHT BE TAKEN. I find it very odd that she uses the same story of the buyer always backs out.

2) Are you expecting the refund tomorrow? Please let us know that you have at least gotten the money back.

3) If the people who have inquired about the geckos after Diana backed out have emails from her indicating that she said the buyer backed out, please see if they can post them.

Yes I am supposed to get my money back on 3/28/2003 via Paypal and I hope that I do. I just hope nobody else has to go through this and that this is not some kind of scam that she is doing by selling something and then using their money for something else and waiting to sell the same thing to someone else so she can pay the previous buyer back and scam on the next person.

i am sorry to here that let us know what happens and you are right it should not cost 112.00 to ship ups i mean i am in ks. and i just shipped a snake thru ups and it onley costed me 40.00 dollers so you were right not to send her the 112.00

We all came to your aid when you were the wronged party in another deal. Do the right thing now, and give this woman her money ASAP!

Also, whether this is the case for Gracie or not, the fact remains that HONORABLE sellers do not spend money they have not yet earned (aka: delivering the sold animals!). Please, those of you who do this, PLEASE stop spending other people's money!!!! It's not yours to spend until they have their animals and are satisfied with them!

Reversal through Paypal

Lori.. If she does not send you the Refund through Paypal I believe there is a way to Reverse the Payment. I will research it and let you know or if someone else there knows how to do it.. Please Let Lori Know.. Paypal will freeze the account of the seller so that noone else will get scammed like that.

Hope you get your money back the right way but if not.. try a Reversal!!

I just relized that when you posted you stated..( You sent the money to her thru pay pal) and you also stated..(she told you when you called the second time that she could not send you your refund thru pay pal becouse she had NO PAY PAL ACCONT) well I am new to the hole pay pal thing so I asked a coupel of friends something and they told me I was correct with what they knew so now I am gonna ask you to ask Gracie this.... IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PAY PAL ACCONT THEN HOW DID YOU RECIVE THE MONY THRU PAY PAL??????????????? If I am wrong then Gracie and everyone els please forgive me but if I am right then it sounds to me like you are being lied to... Let us know what happens and agin I am sorry that this happend to you and I am sorry that your boy had to find out how mean some pepole are....

PAYPAL REVERSAL

You should be able to go for a refund on paypal, if the person you paid cannot show documented proof that you received what you paid for then paypal will refund the money from Gracies account on her behalf even if she doesn't like it.

I have had to do this on one occasion and I got my money back!

You will have to go onto paypal and go through the proper channels for complaints I think it is.

Ok now that we have cleard up my littel problem (lol lol) lori I realy do hope ya all get your money back and i will agree (strongley) with what everyone els has said she should not have spent your money untile the animals were deliverd she has to see it from your point of veiw exampel would she by a stove and tell them to deliver it pay for it befor delivery and then 2 or three days later be perfictly happy that she paid in advance for a stove that she expectide to get that day??but got 2 or 3 days later NO I THINK NOT agin I am sorry your boy had to find out this way how mean some pepole can be and I hope everything works out let us know

Sorry for the hassles with your transaction.

One thing I do want to point out is that if she went to an "outlet" of UPS like "Mail Boxes, etc." it's entirely possible that they quoted her $112.

I was shipping out a package priority mail (12" x 12" x16" & approx 3 lbs) and I was told that it would be $140 for UPS or $122 for USPS!! I just laughed at them and went to the post office where it cost me $17 and some change for EXPRESS service.

Thanks for the info and that may be entirely possible, but the fact still remains the same Gracie shouldn't have spent the money before the animals were recieved. That is fine if she was planning on keeping them but she could of called and let me know and not spent the money prior to that. I'm sure my son will find other geckos. I just would like to have my money soon and not being told by a complete stranger that I have to wait for my money until she gets around to getting paid herself.

Obviously, Gracie has frequented the BOI before, but have you emailed her about THIS thread? I think she needs to be made aware of its existence so she can see what she needs to do for you, or present her side of the story. I think it would be best if her attention were drawn to this thread by an email from you.

Even if she doesn't have the funds, paypal will take them from her bank account directly. They can do this because when you agree to terms with paypal, it's part of the terms.

But Gracie may and should do the right thing and refund as soon as possible anyway if you are not satisfied and I think we'd all like to hear her side of the story as well.

I want to thank all of you with your suggestions and comments I want to let all of you know that Gracie did make the payment back to me today. I recieved the email from Pay Pal. I also want you to know I did email her and told her I wrote about it on the BOI so maybe she will comment and answer some of your questions on this issue again thanks for all of your help it is greatly appreiciated....Lori Caswell
