In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello all,

I have a sulcata that I picked up from someone on craigslist that I have grown quite fond of. It is around 10 inches and probably weighs about 1/4 of what it should at it's age. This is by far the single most pyramided tortoise I have ever seen.

When I responded to the ad on craigslist, I was told by the person that posted the ad that it was just a little guy, as in hatchling, although 10 inches is small. I figured either way we'd need to get him out of his current situation. The person told me that the tortoise was his ex-girlfriend's and it was left by her when they broke up and he had no idea how to take care of it and just wanted it gone asap. This tortoise had no lights at all, and was being fed that high protein pellet stuff with no greens of any kind and no supplements. I said fine I'd take it in that case, knowing that if I thought I was not the best home that I could post it in some adoption classifeds.

One day he said to go pick it up as he HAD LEFT IT ON HIS PORCH!! Now, understand, this is CT in November around 10 at night, and this person had just left to go to Miami and had a friend leave it out there. Needless to say I sped there going about 95 mph.

So I got the tortoise home and he is just awesome. Very active, no signs of an RI, no cloudy eyes, ect. He eats like a champ and is a pleasure to watch. However he makes me want to cry every time I look at him because it's honestly disturbing how this animal was neglected.

He is free to anyone that can provide a better home for him. He's just not the same size as ours as I thought he was originally and it'll be a little tough for us. I don't mind keeping him as things are going well now, but I just want what's absolutely best for him. If there's a better home out there I'd love to give him up. He will not disappoint.

Thank you and I look forward to any replies.

will u ship him....i would be very interested in him.... please let me know..i live in parkersburg wv 26101 let me know how much it would be thanks so much

Can you ship him? I have a Sulcata and wouldn't mind another. I've had mine for over 12 years and he weighs over 70 pounds.

Hey guys, thank you both so much for your interest... I actually found a great home for him with a trusted friend who is also a reputable breeder in my area. I've been getting updates and he is doing very well with other sulcatas of comperable size. Keep on looking, I recommend checking craigslist every day as people are always dumping sulcatas, and they will usually let them go for less than they're asking. And be sure to remind them how cheap sulcatas are on kingsnake now, cause evryone still think hatchlings should be over 100 bucks when they really go for about 35 dollars each now. :shrug01:
