Well, I kept waiting to post updates on my clutches since I expected one clutch to hatch and another to be laid this week, but the hatching babies are taking their sweet time coming out of the eggs and the other hasn't been laid yet. Goofballs. So I figured I might as well post what
has been going on in the meantime. (I bet after I post this, everything will happen at once.)
Clutch #2 was laid on May 22, 2012: Bromine (G-stripe) x Beryllium (het G-stripe). I actually half expected them be infertile given the size of the female, but nope! She gave me five long, thin, beautiful eggs! (I think they look more like brats than BP eggs! Hee hee!)
Irulan's clutch (bred to Titanium, a CH Axanthic) started pipping Tuesday, which surprised me given it was only 52 days into incubation! I don't have any good pictures yet because not only have none of them come out of their eggs yet, but they also apparently don't like to even stick their noses out. So pics of the babies in the next couple days!
One last thing: a question. This CH Axanthic has not been proven genetic yet (I'm working on it). I will, of course, only be selling the babies as "possible" hets of a new line of Axanthic. What I'm wondering, though, is whether to give the Axanthic a name before it's proven (i.e., name the new line a PtP Axanthic or something like that). I would rather not give it a name until it's proven, but if I don't name them now and it proves genetic later, those who have the hets may not know what line of Axanthic they have. I would hope that someone with a possible het of a new line of recessive morph would keep track of whether or not said morph has been proven out (if they don't prove it out themselves), but I'm sure some people don't. Your thoughts? (I'm not even going to bother about whether the line is compatible with any other line, yet...though, given the color and pattern, if it's compatible with any other line, it would likely be the TSKs.)
