In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

2012 Clutch Record

Good luck, my friend! Sometimes things are a bit harsh to swallow, but think positively!

Thank you very much! I will! :)

Also, Beryllium's eggs (which should be hatching in just over a week) were sired by the male G-Stripe I bought from you a couple years ago! :D He's gonna be a daddy!

Beryllium's eggs hatched!

I got good odds on morphs (Stripe x het) but terrible odds on sexes. I wasn't originally planning on keeping a Stripe, but once I saw them coming out, I thought it would be good to have a female Stripe around. But alas, it was not to be.

All the babies in this clutch are male!

I can't say I'm too surprised, really. I've had excellent female:male ratios so far; it was only a matter of time until those odds evened out. ;)

Anyway, all the babies seem healthy, so YAY! And they're all quite pretty, I think; even the hets look nice, if I may say so. The lower-right one is a spitting image of his mom--black back and all!

I really, really wish this guy was a girl. All the Stripes have perfect, unbroken stripes...except for one. But when I looked more closely, I noticed the breaks were nearly symmetrical and the snake was more orange in color than the others. I figured out what the deal was when I went to sex him: he's a ringer! I can't say I've seen a lot of Stripes, but I know I've never seen a Stripe ringer before. Not only that, but he also has almost no side patterning. Man, I want to keep him so badly...but I don't need another male Stripe! :bawling:

Congrats, those are really nice. Even your hets are nice. Sorry you didn't get any girls.

Sweet Krystal! Awesome kids!

Thanks! :D Despite being all boys, I'm happy with how they turned out.

You still beat the odds morph wise, so it is pretty sweet regardless! Congrats Krystal!!! They look awesome!

Indeed! 'Bout time.... My last 50/50 clutches turned out 3/8 and 2/7, so I'm happy for the better morph odds! Thanks!

Congrats, those are really nice. Even your hets are nice. Sorry you didn't get any girls.

Thank you! Yeah, I'm really happy with how the hets turned out. It's weird! No worries on the girls, though. (Like I need more to keep anyway. Hee hee.)

Good morph odds again with Europium's clutch: VPI Axanthic x Het Red Axanthic.

NOSES!
2012_003_WEu_02.jpg

Six double hets (top and middle) and three single hets (bottom). The three het VPI Axanthics are all boys. :( BUT! At least one of the double hets is a girl, so I have one to hold back! Not sure on the sexes of the rest of the double hets; they weren't being cooperative.
2012_003_WEu_03.jpg

I thought it would be difficult to tell the difference between the single and double hets. Nope! I could even tell just by the heads sticking out of the eggs. The difference was astounding. (The balled up double het is the one I want to hold back if it's a girl. Almost a full black-backl!)

I wish I had a normal het Red Axanthic to compare with these babies. They look a lot different than the mom when she was a hatchling. I wondered if maybe the two Axanthic genes were interacting in a way that made the pattern come out less yellow than normal, but I'm guessing that'll go away when they shed.

In other [hopefully] good news, I've been candling the Lesser x Mojave clutch (probably more than I should be), trying to see pattern in the eggs. Well, two have obvious pattern, one is highly likely to have pattern, and one...does not! This one has looked pinkish and lighter than the others every time I've candled them. I'm crossing my fingers this is my BEL!!!

Loving that Axanthic x het red clutch Krystal! That is a killer idea. I can't wait to see what the double homozygous animals are going to look like! Congrats!

Thank you very much!! (This is my little pet project.) I can't wait either! I don't expect the double homozygous to look super spectacular or anything, but it'll still be neat!

Nice clutch Krystal, those are some great looking het reds!

Thank you! :D

YAY for awesome G Stripes!! And those Het Reds are awesome. Isn't it too cool how you can see it immediately?

Congrats!

Thank you! Yep, your boy can really throw the nice, perfect Stripes!

Yeah, it is! Was surprising to me how clearly they stood out from the others.

love the VPI Axanthic x Het Red Axanthic clutch babies are really nice looking.

Thank you! :)

EDIT: I candled the Lesser x Mojave clutch one more time, and here are my morph guesses: 1 BEL or Lesser, 3 Mojaves or normals. The three that have obvious pattern seem to have a lot of keyholes, and my Lessers tend to have asymmetrical banded patterns rather than keyholes. I still can't see any clear patterning in the last egg, but it could be a Lesser with the belly toward the outside (and I don't want to completely jinx my chances of a BEL). ;)

I has an even bigger sad.

I candled Uranium's eggs last night since it was Day 52 and they would be hatching soon. All of them show pattern. :( :( No BEL for me. From the pattern, it looks like one Lesser and three Mojaves/normals.

They started pipping this morning. Just a normal out so far.

I've been giving all of my girls a year off between breedings, so I won't get to try again for two more years. *sigh*

Ah, well. I just hope all the babies are healthy. I got pretty good morph odds with two other clutches, so I shouldn't complain.

OUCH.

So...hatchling season ends on a bit of a downer.

All four eggs hatched, and the babies all seem healthy!

But...
2012_004_IrU_03.jpg

Lesser x Mojave = 1.0 Lesser, 1.2 Normal. Dang. Not only is there no BEL, but there's not much of anything else, either!

Ah, well. I have lots of adorable little babies to take care of, and I can start looking forward to next year! :)
