In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

About the BOI and it's future here...

Well, it seems that some people still don't know what is going on. Just yesterday I had someone come to me and thank me for the thread I started on Chaos. Further in the conversation I was shocked to find out the person did not know of the possible loss of the BOI. There are people who frequent Fauna that still do not know what is going on. There has to be some way to get the message out to everyone. Other than the previous ideas I posted in my last two posts I am at a loss for any new ideas. :shrug01:

Well, in a "Court of Law", wouldn't you have to pay a defense attorney, even if you aren't guilty? Besides, $25, for a year long membership, isn't asking a whole lot.

Wayne

The BOI is not the court of law. What you are opening up the BOI to is becoming another Hell forum - a place where paid members can bitch about unpaid members. I'd rather send my $25 to USARK.

Seems some people aren't quite grasping what has been said, so I'll try to make it clearer.
IF the BOI isn't deemed to be financially self sufficient, it will be shut down.
In consideration of those members that will have paid to keep it going, Rich will allow access (to paid subscribers) until those subscriptions expire. Unless I misread things, or missed an important post or three, Rich has been pretty clear about the fact that he has no intention of continuing it as a pay-to-play feature...it's an offer with a predetermined end point.

Should it stop there? I mean there could be legal cases popping up everywhere. Why not leave forever, so people can constantly be giving in money.

i'm sorry, but can someone please enlighten me about what BOI is?
i've already came across two threads about it and i'm still unsure of what it is?
thanks

You're on it (BTW you need to include you full name here). It's the Board of Inquiry. It is where you can look up, or provide information for breeders or individuals in this hobby/industry.

Ok, I have to ask this..so what if i contributed, and he ends up shutting it down after all this..would I get my money back or...what?

I'd hate to pay money that I don't really have to pay atm, to pay for something so in a few months it goes away neways. I'm money tight and manage my money very well, and this is something I take into consideration. So just wondering. I read threw out this thread and a lot of ppl make some very good points. I agree with Rick's point as I understand fully, as well as I understand what a lot of other ppl are saying about the real basis of the BOI is. So it kinda leaves you stuck like a tick in a hot spot or something ya know.

Neways..

The BOI would Remain open for paid members after it closes publicly, until those paid memberships Expired.

People either want to keep the BOI around because it is important to them, and they see it is important for this business and so that it remains Open to EVERYONE, or people DONT care and are too selfish ( some, not all, some just cant afford it ) to help one of the best tools in this industry.

Theres no question about it, Rich is right that others who attempt this feat will be hard pressed to actually withstand a lawsuit. Lets go people. There is NO QUESTION. You either want the BOI to remain or it WILL close... Giving the bad guys we have outed, a SECOND CHANCE.

Hence why ..it's just another flop into a already crashing hobby with all the "new laws" they are trying to press...now the theives and scum have a second round without any warning. I came here when I first wanted to buy my first animal online to look for the person and even ended up dating him..(weird i know)..but...it did help me..and it did stress me for a few weeks over something that happened. So..I'm on both fence posts...I want it to stay..because I can use it and it is helpful, and is it worth the lawsuit risk that he faces every day?

In my mind, even if the BOI closed, it's still worth it to me to donate what I can, becuase Rich has put SO much into it, it's not like he doesn't deserve the boost. Think of how long it's been up and helping people. Look at how many posts there's been made, and how many folks it's helped.

$25 is two fairly cheap meals out. It's the price of a decent pizza.

Members will need to maintain the Contributions every year for the site to remain. It's not a once and done deal.
If that is the case, I guess I did miss something.

Obviously, there are some different interpretations of what what has been said...Rich?

HOw long does it take for a paid membership to show up on your profile? I paid on... Friday, I think it was....

I don't get it - the contributions are to fund lawsuit defenses. If Rich doesn't get sued, yet theoretically accrues enough funds for a deemable legal defence, why do we need to continue contributing if he has not yet exhausted those contributions yet?
