I haven't been to KS in a while. I just know that there are mods completely sympathetic to HSUS/PETA there.

Darin to me that just doesnt make any sense. I have no idea who the mods there are, maybe at one point they were sympathetic to hsus/peta. But I cant see that being there stance any longer. Jeff makes his living off the reptile industry, if theres no industry he doesnt pay the bills because hes out a job, no more Ksnake. So why would he hire people who are trying to ban the very thing that he makes a living on? His mods arent trying to undermine him thats just doesnt make sense. Think about it.

Think what you want. JeffB is as shortsighted as he is greedy and paranoid. Melissa Kaplan is for the elimination of herps as pets; she just comes at her desired result from an unusual perspective. JeffB uses her because she is convenient in certain circles, but her website (and those she advertises there) are definitely anti-reptile ownership in their scope and intent.

There are others on KS less ardent than Ms. Kaplan, but she alone is enough for me not to have anything to do with the site so long as she is accepted tehre. At least, in my opinion.

It was also my understanding that the PH moderators on KS were, for the most part at least, unpaid volunteers...

Kraplan there wrote (plagarized the parts that aren't wrong, made up a bunch of nonsense about iguana training) a book, people reccognize her name, most new keepers don't realize that she's out to get their animals taken away from them so she attracts those who don't know better to his forums.

She has the same thing going on at AOL.

Heck, her books biggest sales in retail places are through Petsmart and Petco, but she's an avid supporter of "Petno" and wants both of them put out of business... Why would they carry her book and assist her with amassing royalties when she wants them obliterated?

She's just insidious like that.

Nope, Jason, I made an honest offer to you. You are just trying to use it for leverage for your original goal. My offer had nothing at all to do with the forum I put back up. Your postings very obviously had that as it's only goal.

I made my offer, take it or leave it. If that issue is so important to you, certainly you would not make my offer contingent upon what you want me to do on my site. What's more important to you Jason?

And no, that was not an offer for you to use that mass mailing from my mailing list to draw people to your site. All links within the text you provide (if you decide to do so) must be to ORIGINAL sources of information and not just something on your site.

Oh I agree whole heartedly! I gave you the option of using the resouces of my site to spread the message. I expected to get you to put up or shut up. But, of course, you will do neither.

To wrap this up, the purpose of this thread was to give me guidance about what to do about my policy that I previously stated halting all discussions concerning other websites on FaunaClassifieds. At the time, is sure seemed like a good idea to me. And certainly, at first, to a lot of other people as well, until the ramifications of it apparently sank in.

I learned what I needed to know about what people here thought about such a change in policy and have rescinded my ill-conceived attempt to try to preserve my sanity. But my intent is to be personally hands off in that arena as much as possible, regardless of what other people may post there.

So this thread is done. If you want to discuss this issue further Jason, there is a forum on this site called Legislative Alerts that would be more appropriate for the discussion. My offer still stands, however your later postings appear to show how shallow at heart your bringing this into the discussion was. But I am willing to overlook that and help you if you are even slightly sincere about it.

Thanks to everyone whom helped me make this decision and keep this site in the best interests of the majority involved. Obviously here are some external concerns not happy about it, but I'm not doing this for them.
