I find that really interesting, I went to NERD last year, got a complete behind the scenes tour of their facility and was allowed to take as many pictures as I wanted. I saw the ball python breeding facility, the boa's, the monitors, and many other species of reptiles. The floor, cages, and animals were spotless and I was an unexpected guest! Are you trying to tell me that your collection is more extensive than Kevin and Kara?

I met Kara at NARBC Anaheim in 2005, she liked my hair and we took a couple of pictures of the two of us standing with our backs to the camera, we exchanged a couple of emails and chatted here on fauna.

I went to New Hampshire to help a friend of mine set up and attend his first show as a vendor. It was the All New England show in April of 2006, the vendor Boid Morphs or "Greg Riso". He surprised me with a visit to see their shop, never dreaming that I would see Kara let alone her hugging me, grabbing me by the hand and saying "let me show you upstairs" I must say not only was I impressed with their facility, but the projects they are working on are truly spectacular.

The first pic is NARBC 2005, the second is outside their facility in April of 2006. I'm sure that you can contact Greg Riso through pm here on fauna to verify my story as well as Kara herself.

I don't know about anyone else but there seems to be alot to do with that animal in 24 hours. I was looking to see if there was a TOS or if it was a " fly by the seat of your britches " kinda thing and this is all I could find on his site. 1 day seems a bit questionable. I myself don't buy from anyone that doesn't give me at least 5 - 7 days to let the animal settle in before feeding.

I'm really curious how the UPS account was set up to ship reptiles. I've been trying to get one for a couple years now. Not saying it isn't possible he has one for shipping reptiles but would love to know who he contacted to get it.

My understanding is they are not setting up any new account - but are still allowing those previously cerified to ship reptiles to continue to do so.
 
It depends on which reptiles you want to ship. Snakes are not allowed, some other reptiles are OK.

From UPS website:

Shippers are prohibited from shipping any animal not listed here, and all other live animals will not be accepted for transportation. When I set up my UPS account about five years ago I had to jump through a few hoops to get approved to ship reptiles (not snakes though, those still weren't allowed back then either), now you don't need any special waivers for the reptiles listed above. I have heard others claim that they are allowed to ship snakes because they were grandfathered in or because they are a large volume shipper. They are either liars or their sales reps are blowing smoke up their butts. Somewhere on my old computer I have an e-mail response from the VP of shipping operations for the East Coast (or some similar title) stating that there are no waivers for shipping snakes via UPS, it is against policy and volume of shipping does not grant a company or person any sort of special immunity to corporate policy.
 
Actually there were some posts of people stating they were approved but they had to have individual contracts drawn up through a particular office and even then other UPS employees would still give them hassle until they proved it. I believe a search would bring these posts up.
 
I have been calling UPS and DHL, every few months for the past 2-3 years trying to set up an account to ship SNAKES.
I have talked to numerous Representatives from both shippers.


No matter who I talk to, the outcome is always the same;
They will NOT ship SNAKES.
There are no "special" contracts or applications.
NO EXCEPTIONS.

Thats the same I get.
 
I would think by the comments made about my animals that some of you would be happy that they are not shipped through the same service as yours. This way when the driver touches my shipment and then yours there is no way that your animals can catch any mites, ticks, IBD or anything else dreamed of next.
Also let's keep to topic here so the folks just reading don't get bored.
