• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I contacted Spindown reptiles about a pair of Northern Blue tongues. I asked her what was the price for the pair? She said " $650 plus shipping" several emails passed, I said I would take them! I wanted to speak over the phone before payment, She said " I'll call tonight" After several hours passed the time she said she would call, she said "I'll call tomorrow". I agreed, then 10 mins. Later I received an email saying she had another offer! WTF. I explained to her I didn't know this was an auction? Nevertheless I would not ever do business with them! Beware!

Did she at any point tell you that your sale was confirmed? I agree that this can be frustrating, but it in no way makes her a "bad guy" - also, have you made her aware of this thread?

Hi, I want to just respond to this immediately: I stated IN MY ADS, that I was accepting offers. I never said I was accepting this offer, but I did answer all questions. It is unfortunate that the OP missed this wording in the offer, but never once did I say that I was exclusively accepting the offer.

I did inquire as to how they found me, to go back and see if I had somehow not clearly communicated this, but they said they didn't see my ad. If so, I'm confused as to how they contacted me?

Either way, I'm sorry that the OP was offended by this misunderstanding, and have already tendered a very sincere apology. I have this entire conversation via email, if needed. Its very long as I'm not good at screenshots.

When someone asks for a sale price and the other parties agrees to pay that price and says I'll take them, call me for payment. Then leads you around by multiple emails that's no way to do business! She will be made aware

I am very sorry if someone led you to believe that all business is conducted this way. I have every reason to believe that Alyy was not only looking for a sale, but a good, qualified home for her animals. Perhaps the other person was able to meet her criteria before you. When we lose out on an animal we want, it is for sure a bummer, but in no way is saying "I'll take it" a guarantee that you will get to purchase the animals.

Tballs - this reflects more poorly on you as a buyer, than on Alyy as a seller. She did nothing wrong.

Let me just say Alyy White is one of the BEST KSB breeders I know. I can vouch for her upstanding status in the WA State herp community. Her animals are clean, well fed, and many of them have been used for outreaches including these two blueys!
Sounds like the OP is mad his offer wasn't accepted.
Newsflash...people ARE allowed to accept a better offer especially since sexed blue tongue skinks are a rare commodity.

Forgot to ad, I told the OP that the time of the call was moved tomorrow. With all messages I responded within the hour, usually within minutes. Communication was never lacking between us at any time.

As all of my ads stated explicitly that I was taking offers, I never stated it in my emails, because I still don't know which ad the OP was responding to, they didn't deign to tell me. :/

I have the emails at no time did she state she was taking offers!! At no time did she inform me that the sale wasn't accepted, or that offers were still being considered! BS. I found the ad by a google search. She set the value not me, I however accepted. If it was an auction type she should've disclosed my agreement of her offer would be considered but she was still accepting other offers! Misleading is Not a way to conduct business! No matter how you slice it, that was wrong & completely unprofessional!

If someone could tell me how to upload photos, I'll upload the entire conversation.

Tballs...I don't know how YOU do business, but in the normal world, it takes TWO people to make an agreement. You keep saying YOU accepted the deal. I'm sorry you didn't read the ad, and that you made a false assumption...but at NO time did I EVER say that we had a confirmed deal.

I am absolutely looking for not only the right price, but the right home...so I do have to consider other offers. I would hope as a fellow animal and reptile owner you could understand that, and take the high road with my apology for the misunderstanding.

Until money is sent, a purchase agreement has not been reached. It does not appear she took the "highest offer" unless you have proof? If you feel your emails are so telling, do post them. That said, your claims hold no water on this end. Sorry

I am in fact taking a lower offer, as this person was a better fit. Clearly I made the right choice, with the way that the OP has reacted. I'm going to keep trying to upload the conversation...so please ignore any blank posts.

This post wasn't on but for a minute before you friend notified you. Your friend Katie. No matter what your friends say I'm positive this wasn't the manner to conduct business! At no point did I discredit her animals or timely responses! Just the fact she never notified me in the emails that it was an auction based sale, nor give me an opportunity to counter offer!

Tballs - I was not the one that notified her. I came on to do a name search, and recognized Alyy's name. It is because she has been in the same reptile circles as myself for years.

No no. Let me explain how reptile sales work. We don't have to tell you we're considering other offers, or what those offers are. If a better home is found, or a better offer given, we're not going to accept a lower offer just because you emailed first. This isn't first come first serve. Nothing is concrete until you send a deposit. IF you had given her a deposit for the blueys that would be another matter. But you didn't.

You are also clearly ignoring the part where she accepted a LOWER offer based on a qualified home. I am the same way. I would rather GIVE an animal away to the right home, than make money on the wrong home.

Don't worry forum, I wont be responding all night, I simply want to respond to each of Tballs points.

First of all, if the link works and you can all see them...The FIRST email I got from Terry Schaffner (Tball), was a total of SEVEN HOURS AGO. Hardly HOURS. I also updated you that I couldn't call until tomorrow. You agreed, as can be seen in the email, and said that was fine, I could talk to your partner.

The above quote is from your own words in an earlier post ON THIS THREAD. You said I took HOURS to respond, and intimated that I was purposely being untimely about calling.

I NEVER TOLD YOU IT WAS AN AUCTION BECAUSE ITS NOT AN AUCTION! I've gotten offers all over the board. I am selling these two because I want to see this project in the hands of someone who will continue working it, and like I TOLD YOU, I have to do the best for my animals, both the ones being rehomed and the ones I still have to care for, my special needs care.
