• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Amanda O'Gorman (Meep) Unprofessional Transaction

Hi All,

I have sent an email over to Jim regarding the issue. It was total error on my fault, I should have contacted him sooner. It was totally an out of sight, out of mind thing on my end. Not the way to handle it.

I'm not sure what spamcop is, I've never blocked anyone anyone's email address before. Hopefully he can still get my emails. :shrug01:

I hope everything gets settled here. I really hate when people get scammed by other people. Nobody deserves that. As long as you get your money back or get the snakes everything will be ok. Keep us posted on what is happening.

Amanda contacted me. Hopefully she gets the refund processed quickly. Once she does, I'll advise that the issue has been resolved and let you know how it went.

As far as Spamcop, here's the response I received from them. If this is, in fact, the case, Yahoo users beware!

This IP address is a webmail server that belongs to Yahoo and is being used to send out large amounts of spam, including fake pharmacy spam, fraudulent 419 scams and others. The amount of spam being sent through Yahoo has grown exponentially to the point it is tripping our listing defenses.

We can do nothing to stop the spam at its source, but we can help others block spam, including those that have chosen to refuse any mail from identified spam source IP addresses. Only Yahoo can stop the spam coming from their network. You should contact Yahoo with your complaints as only they can stop the spam. Once the spam is stopped, or at least slowed, the server IP will delist from the SpamCop Blocking List.

I'm hoping this is resolved very soon.

I bought a Crestie from Amanda just a few weeks ago and the transaction could not have gone more smoothly. I'm very happy with my little guy/gal!

Based on my own positive experience, Amanda's very positive reptutation up till now, and her willingness to accept responsibility thus far in this thread, I'm optimistic for you, James.

Oh- and I don't at all know the ins and outs of anti-spam software, but I often find non-spam in my spam folders, even after I've noted previous emails from the same person as "not spam"... and my primary email is with yahoo. I've just learned to scan through my spam folder on a weekly basis before deleting. :shrug01:

What are you referring to when you say "out of sight, out of mind"? :NoNo:

FWIW, it's only been a few days since James asked her to refund her the money, and Amanda did say that she had to wait for it to clear so she could send it back. Paypal isn't the quickest about this type of thing, and I know personally with the holiday weekend I'm still waiting in my own account for some things to clear from last week...

Correction, its been 8 days which would include 5 business days. If i transfer money from paypal on Monday its there Thursday morning.

I had the same experience. I bought a crestie around the same time lauraleellbp did and had nothing short of an awesome experience. She was able to ship quickly, sent more pics on my request and was nothing but helpful.

When I started reading this thread I had to triple check to make sure this is the same person I dealt with because it was so unnerving. I can honestly say that I dont think she is running a scam...that instead maybe there really was an issue that she was dealing with and that it was all taking a little longer than anticipated. But on the other hand, seeing that she's not only been online since he email her (with no response) but she's been posting for sale adds....thats really unprofessional.

So Im torn. I had a great experience buying from her, and would probably still buy from her again. As long as this issue gets resolved sooner than later.

I will jump in here to say that I also bought a crestie from her and had a very good experience. In my case I was the one that had some scheduling uncertainties on my end and she worked great with me. Never mind the fact that I do not live on my computer and had some lag time on my end. I have to believe that this was a legit misunderstanding that will be resolved quickly.

Hi Jim,

I had just transfered the paypal money to my bank account, so it will be a couple days before I can send it back. I'll send it over as soon as it clears!

Sorry again! :(

Amanda

Although it looks like she is going to fix this situation, I feel the need to say this: DO NOT spend or transfer money from your Paypal over to your bank account until the sale is complete - that means the product (animal in this case) is in the buyer's hands, and the buyer is happy with the animal. The money is still your customer's until they receive what they paid for. This is a perfect example of why you shouldn't do that. Hope you guys get this situation worked out

Amanda submitted an Echeck last night for the full amount. Once it clears and posts to my account, I'll update with the final resolution on this so we can all have our closure. I can't express enough (again) my gratitude for all those who just jumped in and helped me get this resolved. I'm thrilled to be a part of this community and while I've seen plenty of flaming BOI threads, I felt that this one was really constructive.

Full refund posted today.

Amanda's note to me when the BOI brought the issue to her attention:

Hi Jim,

First off, I must apologize for taking so long to get back to you. I've had a lot going on, but being you were a customer, I should have contacted you much sooner, especially before it needed a BOI thread. I can't blame you however, without communication I would have done the same thing.
I never blocked your email address, so I'm not sure why it would say that I did. This was my last email from you, and I hadn't even had a chance to open it yet.
I'm not sure if I need to do anything else with a paypal dispute, I've never had one before.

Again, I apologize, and I wish things would have worked out.

-Amanda

After a couple very nice emails, she was quick to send an e-check to remedy the issue, so I can say with 100% confidence that this issue is resolved and I'm now convinced that it was just a perfect storm of sorts with the missed emails and then the blocking (that wasn't Amanda's fault) that made it appear as though she was a scammer. I now know she's a good person and I'm sure she'll likely use this experience to act quicker in the future with regard to communication.

Jim

Just good to see a seller admit fault and accept blame for the current Boi thread. She took care of the issue in professional way that goes a long way toward restoring her rep in my book. We've all made mistakes, she was man/woman enuff to admit her fault and move forward.
