    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Amanda Thomas--has my gecko and money, no response

Seri, Amanda, and I live in three different states and this was done via the internet, so that should make it a federal offense and not a local one. I'm doing what I can by posting this here so the reptile community is aware of what's going on, or at least, the members who happen to read this thread. I just wish there were some way to shut down her web site before she does this to more people. I already notified the web master of the site where she posted the ad that I responded to last December.

the fact that you waited a whole year to take any course of action is going to kind of hurt your chances,it already is hurt due to the fact that you can't go to paypal nor your credit card company as you waited so long to report the issue to them.and for the amount of money the transaction is for i highly doubt any law enforcement will help you,unless you go to court which would be useless and end up costing you more

just get the word out here and other popular site and call it a day with the dealer.

once again paypal-45 days to dispute a charge if you don't get it

bank-most is 60 days to dispute a charge

I know I passed the 45 days, but from what I understood it's not that uncommon for people to hold animals until the spring to ship, and I'd already passed 45 days waiting for spring. I didn't want to be out of line since I'm fairly new to reptiles and want to maintain a good reputation.

The sellers playing the system. Im sure she knows if she keeps her prices low and keeps ppl hanging on the line for over 60 days. That she can get away with it because its past the 45 day dispute time frame.

A good tip is. Dont buy anything that cant be shipped immed. I dont buy stuff during the hottest summer months or the coldest winter months for exactly that reason.;)

I'd like to chime in a few points;

In April 2011 there was a severe tornado and I do recall her posting a thread on Pangea about it, specifically:

http://www.pangeareptile.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49416&highlight=tornado

So I could honestly see why the spring wasn't good for her to ship. And as an Alabamian myself there is no way you could pry a gecko from me in the middle of summer, this heat would fry them- so no, summer is out as well. But none of those really excuse a lack in communication.

I just thought I'd chime in what I knew.

I hope maybe its just something beyond her control and she can get you guys your geckos or refunds!

I know about the tornado. It was at the end of April and on May 4th she posted (in the same thread) that she was home with power and internet and would be sending the geckos out soon.

I really do hate this for you guys.

If there's anything I can do to help, I live about 2 hours away from Falkville (I think) but could also meet her at the Dixie Reptile Show if getting the geckos shipped out is the problem, though it sounds like she's shipped before.

That's still quite a distance for you, but it you could convince her to either send the gecko or refund the money, I sure would appreciate it.

I have to honestly say that despite all of this, I'm still very worried about her. I just don't see her doing this on purpose as in, intentionally trying to take us for our money. I fear that something happened to her or someone close to her, or that life just took a dump on her and she just can't deal with her gecko business anymore. No idea, but that's my guess. It doesn't excuse what she's done here, but I honestly think there is something that caused this behavior.

The reason I waited SO long is simply because this isn't just some random seller, this is someone I've known on Pangea for awhile, chatted to often in the chatrooms and was known by many people I trust. If that hadn't been the case, I would have sent the paypal dispute immediately. I mean, we were comfortable enough with one another to make this bizarre drawn out payment plan...I would never have done that with a seller I didn't talk to on a regular basis and consider an online friend.

Before I posted to this thread, I actually started two threads on the forums she used to frequent the most asking about her, wondering if perhaps she lost her job, had a death in the family, lost her home...something along those lines. It seems absolutely no one has heard from her though.

Of course I want my money back...but I really do want to know Prinnie is alive and well too. :/ Maybe that makes me a sucker, but I guess that's how it goes.

hope all is well but at least a phone call/email would be nice to the buyer to ease there mind,unless she is hurt and she can't reach any of those then i could understand

Seri, it's spring and the shipping weather is great. I just received two hatchlings from another seller the other week. Do you think it's possible we might be able to get Amanda to either ship or refund us? Have you heard anything since this thread?

When I got her to answer the phone last year, she seemed in a hurry to get off the phone and after that did not answer when I called.

I suspect we were probably taken in by a scammer, but it might be worth a try.

I sure hope Amanda is OK. I purchased several of her geckos and had her ship multiple times with no issues at all. She was always in communication, shipped on time and pleasant to deal with. I noticed today that her iherp page is no longer active. I haven't seen her anywhere in a very long time. I'm sorry for those who did not receive their geckos...but I do wish someone knew what happened to her :(

I do think something happened to her as well :( However, no one that knows her/knew her knows anything or has heard anything. I tried searching obits in her area but no luck. :shrug01:

Yeah her iherp and website are now down, so I take back all my concern...seems she really did just screw us over as I've been trying to contact her since Sept of 2011 (and before that and since)

Thanks for the digging, everybody. I knew she was fine when she was in such a hurry to get off the phone and wouldn't pick it up again when I tried calling her back. An honest person would have been willing to give people a call, or at least talk when they called, instead of avoiding them for so long.
