I'll post my experience to the thread since I am one of the few people here who have actually bought something from Anne.
I'm not condoning her past actions nor giving her a pass here, just relating my experience.
I bought an albino male ball from her about 8 weeks ago, before she had gotten the batch of imports. I know there were quite a few here that were trying to get him at the time. Everyone else emailed her, but I called her at work so she heard from me first.
The snake came in in top condition. He arrived that morning and ate that night, something I almost never do, but I happened to be feeding anyway that day. He's had no problems at all since.
During the transaction, I spoke to Anne several times on the phone and we exchanged several PMs. At no point did I have any aprehension or suspect that I might get ripped off.
It was obvious she wasn't expereinced in the herp business, but she didn't conduct herself in such a way that I was nervous. I also paid with a postal money order, since some are suggesting that is why she backed out with Scott.
I waited a couple of days to respond to this thread becaue I was waiting to hear from another of her customers. He contacted me a while back asking if I would recommend her. I did, based on my experience, and after reading this thread I wanted to make sure my good word wasn't misplaced. I contacted him to check the status of his transaction and he informed me everything went well.
I realize this is second hand info, take it for what you feel it's worth.
Perhaps she is trying to change, perhaps not. No one can actually answer that. I can only say that in my deal with her, I was fully satisfied, and no problems were encountered.
As far as the transaction that initiated this thread, yes Anne used poor judgement in backing out of the sale so abruptly, but the bottom line is nothing was lost, not even the cost of sending her the money order.
It is my opinion that the cost of the snake is the sole reason that Scott got so upset. He lost a steal of a deal. Had he been purchasing that snake for normal market value, I doubt he would have been so upset since he could have called any breeder and gotten the same deal. In this case, at this point in time, he would be hard pressed to find a similar snake for that price.
Scott's behavior after the deal was broken would ensure I would not have offered him a second opportunity. What it boils down to is nothing was lost in the deal. Scott should get over it and move on. He lost the chance at a high end snake for just over half of market value and he's pissed. I'd be disappointed too, but I have the maturity to move on and vow not to atempt business with the person who did it to me again.
This thread, particularly the title, and the other posts he made to her classifieds were made out of nothing more than spite because he was angry he lost such a good deal. He lost nothing physically, just the opportunity to buy something for far less than it was worth.
One of the most common signs of a scammer is they deal in hets. We've seen this too many times to count, and it is said she was doing just this in the glider community. However, she has never offered any het snakes for sale. I would be inclined to think if she was still up to her old ways and trying to run scams on the snake community that she would be selling a few hets at least, and not just dealing with visual morphs. Short of just stealing money and sending nothing, it's hard to scam someone buying a visual.
Despite everyone's eagerness to jump on the wagon and call her a scammer, based on my own experience and what has happened in the snake community only, I cannot at this time say there is adequate evidence that she is not trying to be an upstanding business person.
She still has the opportunity, with me at least, to prove herself either way. I won't write her off based on nothnig more than what I've seen coupled with mob mentality.
