In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

anybody ever deal with Hank molts global herp??? need some feedback

changing of the guards

On a side note, it seems that there have been many threads recently involving "old timers" who have somewhere along the way forgotten that customer relations and honesty are a vital part of any business. Past reputation can only keep you afloat for so long. When your quality or customer relations/service start deteriorating it usually isn't too long before the word gets out that perhaps it would be best to look elsewhere for your purchases.

I think that what Cynthia said is true..... But I think that it is kind of a cyclic thing, you have the older guys, the louie porras', tom crutchfields, the love's, the hank molt's, etc... etc.. and then you have all the younger up and coming guys that need to build a reputation.

I know that I certainly try to build a reputation, but being small and relatively unknown to most people, even if I have a corn snake, and bill and kathy love have a sibling that they bought from me, and mine is priced lower than there's a lot more people would buy from them because of them being around a long time.
hmmm kinda a run on sentance huh???lol

Anyways hope you get the point of that rambling.

Anyways, Glad to see you got your money back spider.

Tom , as much as I share your

sentiments, As an old timer myself, and as I indicated in my earlier post, knowing Hank probably longer than anyone on this forum, their is common sense approach to doing business. Hank should have known better than to allow things to fester to the point that it actually precipitated to. Especially with that kind of money involved.

I may add that Hanks past is certainly a blemished one although restricted to the federal authorities, He has to realize that this is the 21st century, and has to be a bit more mindful when dealing with people . But knowing Hank, he is probably on his next venture. JERRY TRESSER

Jerry,

I by no means meant that post as any sort of excuse for hank. I have met him a few times, and he seems to be a decent person to me.
You are also someone that has been around for a while. I am very good friends with Dr. Mark Wilson, who as you know was one of the really good herp vets of his time. One sentiment he has shared with me on numerous occasions on why he doesn't want to get back into the trade or industry is that there is nothing new being done. Everyone is breeding balls and boas. No matter what "morph" they are they are still balls and boas. I am sure you can remember some times, like Dr. Wilson, when boelens first came in, or sand boas, or sulcatas, or beardies or any number of other animals that weren't seen before. This is also the mark of someone who has been around a long time.
The hobby and the industry is evolving. It realizes that there is a need for "designer" animals and where there is demand, people will try to supply it.
So with another ramble under my belt, just let it be known that no matter how old or young, or how long you have been in this industry, how you treat your customers is a relfection of your self character.

Seems Hank sold me the same 2 female Gilas, for which I sent and he received $3000. He never sent them. "Funny", he used the same wording in his emails to me that he used when he sold the same two animals to the other poster on the list. [email protected]

I would love to purchase the female Gila on kingsnake. Please let me know if she is still available. My phone is 617-964-8203. I am also interested in other high quality banded Gilas who would make a good breeding group with her. Thanks, Leslie

no reply to messages of increasing desperation, no refund, no animals.

Thanks for asking. I have heard many good things about him, from very prominent herp people. Don't know how to reconcile their opinions and my being taken for $3 K. I am not rich. So much for my dream of having Gilas - could never afford to splurge like that again. Really makes me feel like a fool to see the other wanna-be buyer's post, dated the same time as I was writing back & forth to Hank, with the same photos of these lovely animals I was going out on such a limb to purchase, -

I'd still be thrilled if I could get those two lizards. But since that is almost certainly impossible, I could use the money back - I am on medical disability leave and it hurts to think of how I was taken like that. But maybe Hank will still make it right. THe only reason I think that is remotely possible is that a number of herp people I have enormous respect for have vouched for him. Unless he has an evil twin, maybe he'll make it right. I am not holding my breath.

Leslie

Most of the reputable

people that I know will NOT buy from him. It's fairly well known that he doesn't own most of the animals listed but is brokering.

Have you looked into possible legal action against Hank? Perhaps a little prodding from his local police dept. would make him cough up either the animals or the dough.

I have not talked to Hank in years. But I can send him an email and ask him what is up with this and why. I use to talk to him alot never bought anything though.

To Leslie, and all Hank Molt's other clients and friends

Leslie,

My name is Peter Nguyen. I have heard from a number of reliable sources that gentleman herpetoculturist Hank Molt will be attending the 2007 Daytona Expo in August. He may arrive at the Expo before the event officially opens (if he leaves for the Expo from his much-talked-about, cutting-edge facilities in the mountains of Georgia), or he may arrive a little late (if he leaves for the Expo from his current residence in Andersonville, NC, or from his new "home-away-from-home-and-herps" in Ohio); but Hank, as all of you know well, is a man of his word. If he says he'll be at the Expo, he'll be there. And according to his website:

http://www.globalherp.com/id117.htm

... he'll be there with "CASH IN HAND"! Presumably Hank, honorable businessman that he is, plans to use some small percentage of the enormous sums available to him to reimburse the several colleagues and clients to whom he still owes money.

I (Peter Nguyen), Randal Berry, and Tim Colston will be among those present to enjoy Hank's long-missed companionship and to collect on the debts that he owes us (paltry sums to a man of leisure like Hank, of course; but significant to me, to Randal, and to Tim). I'm certain that Hank will welcome this opportunity to square whatever outstanding debts exist with any of his esteemed colleagues and valued clients. I recommend that you contact Hank immediately and propose that we all meet at the Daytona Expo for a weekend of friendships renewed, misunderstandings cleared up, disputes dismissed, and -- most importantly -- debts settled.

I look forward to meeting you, Leslie.

I look forward to seeing you, Hank.

Best regards,

Peter

lol...
My 1st experience with Hank was a nightmare, guy called me up purposely to stand me up on a transaction we were to do in person. Then when I called him for an explanation he told me I had done the same to him many years prior!!!...after some heated words he then admitted that he never even spoke to me or arranged any deal with me, to meet etc.. etc... That a friend of his who at the time was heavily into cocaine had told him to go collect animals from me which his friend paid a non refundable deposit on and then dissappeared for months on a coke binge.
It would also be nice if Hank removed our geomyda japonica pics from his website. He never had permission to use those pics or to sell animals that didn't even belong to him.
In the end I found the guy to be callous, abrasive, dishonest and pretty much a jerk all around.

micropechis, you have to be kidding us. hank has done this probably more times and anyone will know. he is notorious for pulling this type of crap! A gentlemen herpetoculturist? please, we all know his wonderful history. his cash in hand slogan has been on his website for years. selling animals he doesnt have and then scrambling to try to find something is rediculous. esteemed colleagues and valued clients???? he must value yall alot since he doesn't pay his debts ina timely fashion.

Interesting story here involving Hank acting as the intermidiary in the illegal animal trade. He should have been prosecuted. The link will open a pdf file.

Story

Mr. Molt may have a colorful past, however this article is far from an indictment he did anything wrong. A little sensationalism to make a story kind of like the inflated annual number of $3B of US illegal activity. Stuff like this is written to make wildlife policing more relevant. USFWS would love to pop Hank and Hank will tell you this himself. Therefore, if Hank did anything wrong, he would have been charged.

In any event, this article was very well written and a good read overall.

A stated, the article was very well written....I see no "sensationalism". And wildlife policing is indeed more relevant if they are illegally taking protected species. People deserve to get "popped" for such things. If he isn't doing anything wrong, why would USFWS be so determined to get him?

The article states that there is no possible way to legally obtain a twinspot. It omits the fact that there could be twinspots that are captive born descendants of parents(or grandparents) originally collected before they were protected. Twinspots would not be unique in this regard as there are many species which survive in captivity as legal captive born descendants of specimens originally collected before being made illegal to collect.

The Twinspot discussed in the article had been clearly marked by a biologist studying in the Chiricahuas...in the wild. No captive bred specimen there.

Curious, how long have they actually been protected?
