Hey folks,

I was just going through my incubators to see if I've had any new arrivals and when I got to my Blazing Blizzard DH group, low and behold I had a little one staring up at me... :)

This little guy/gal is kind of different though... It's a blizzard, but it has a pattern similar to that of a Patternless Leopard Gecko. I mean, the body all the way down to the tail have spots and little patternless blotches on them?

I mean, if I didn't know that the parents were DH's blazing blizzard I'd have thought that it was a patternless baby gecko and not a blizzard at all!

Is this common? Sorry if it's a whacked out question, but so far all of my blizzard babies have looked like, well, blizzards... :)

I will post pics of this little one by the weekend! My buddies gonna come over and help me get some shots of my little ones to show you all... :)

As always, Muchas Gracias!!!

Well it is pretty obvious it is not a blizzard...... If it has patternless blotches it is a patternless......

but wouldnt both of his breeders have to be HET for patternless? what are the chances of both his blizzard breeders being het for patternless with out him knowing

Greg, I can guarantee that I have never introduced any patternless genes into the group of DH's that produced the baby I was asking about.

The original male was a very, very nice looking Blizzard (wish I still had him), and the female was a tremper albino. I'm not too sure as to whether or not either of them had any patternless blood in them, but I'd suspect not. If it were the other way around, I'm sure I'd have been told so.

Maybe I'll have to breed it too a patty male once it's big enough. I incubated it for female, so if it is a gal, then thats probably what'll have to happen...

I'll post a pic hopefully this weekend Vince, it is a pretty neat little lizard.

I understand what you are saying but lets look at what you have infront of you..... You have a baby blizzard with a pattern like a patternless..... Blizzards do not have patterns like patternless..... Patternless do...... I may be off track here, but did you ever think that your adult male blizzard could have been an adult patternless????? It is a somewhat common mistake...... When they are adults some patternless can look similar to a blizzard..... Or your blizzard and your albino could have both been het for patternless..... You could have been working with the result of other projects before they got to you...... There is a ton of captive breeding and outcrossing going on in the hobby...... That is one of the great things about leopard geckos..... When you breed them you might get something totaly unexpected.....
Maybe you can post some pics of these adults......

I'm positive that what I originally bred was a Blizzard male to a Tremper Albino female. I've never seen a white Patternless, and this guy was white. Also, the original pair (blizzard and albino) were youngsters when I recieved them... Very small.

I have since then gotten rid of the pair that made my current double hets, so I can't post any pics of them. That'd be cool if the two original animals were both het patty! Heheh, it'd be the best of all three worlds eh :)

But knowing the breeder that they originally came from, well, I HIGHLY doubt that. He's not the kind that would sell a blizzard or albino het patternless without charging the extra cash. Which is all good to me.

Until I can get a pic of the baby blizzard heres a better description...

The coloring of the body is same exact color of a duller blizzard. More of a lighter gray color w/ a yellow hue to it. Maybe the part about patterning is what confused everyone... Let me see if I can get this clearer for everyone...

The baby has 4 - 5 larger blotches running down the spine, and spine alone... These are then followed by a spotted tail. Not large spots mind you, but little pinpoint dots that cover the tail itself. Maybe that'll help people get a clearer pic until I can actually post one... :)

Hope this helped.

Gregg, I think Richie is experienced enough to not mistake a blizzard for a patternless.

Whoa, Gregg. That was kind of rude. Be nice please.

I think most of us are experience to know that every once in a while odd things happen and hopefully, the oddity is a pleasant surprise. ;) I have a male jungle that came from Bill DiFabio's. He had been breeding for a while and didn't any jungles but by surprise, produced a leo with purple polka dots!

I'd love to see your new baby, Ritchie. I can't wait for those pictures!! LOL!

How was that rude???? All I did was point out a couple of possabilities..... I think everyone here knows that blizzards do not have spots...... Lighten up alittle.......

Pics are going to be taken tomorrow!

Alrighty, my buddy's coming over with his digital and we'll be taking some pics... I'm going to be posting the pics, and letting you all look at my "spotted" blizzard!

Thanks for the replies folks!

Maybe It s natures way of returning to what all leopard geckos basicaly looked like in the first place....a pattern to break up there outline!....you just skipped a few generations.

Gregg, It came across like you were directly implying that Ritchie didn't know what he was talking about. From what Olivia said, I'm pretty sure she saw it the same way I did. But, since he obviously wasn't offended, I apologize for being overly sensitive.

Sybella, I really don't think you have anything to apologize about in all honesty...

To be truthful, when I read Gregg's post the first time, I also thought that he was implying that I had no idea what I was talking about. Heheh, even when I read his second post, it makes me think that he believes I still dont know what I'm talking about... :)

I personally take everything with a grain of salt, and I'm just not the kind to let these things get too me... :) NO OFFENSE to you either Gregg... :)

But Sybella and Xelda, thanks for coming out and saying something. I thought at first maybe it was just me!

a blizzard neonate can indeed have a pattern. just look at crested geckjos pictures of thier babies. they lose the pattern though as they grow.

c'mon, post the picture rich. maybe this IS something else. hard to say from such a vague description.

Here's the pic (taken by me so it SUCKS!)

Hey folks, well, heres a pic that I took of the baby with a disposable camera... My friend will be here tomorrow, and HOPEFULLY it'll come out way better then this piece of scatt did... :( Anywho, here it is....

I just wanted to have something to show you all tonight, and it isn't that pretty...

Advice to self, take photo lessons... :)

Oops here it is... :)

Yeah, its that bad... :)

Look it's bigfoot or is that the lochness monster (sorry overton I beat ya to it). I'm just playing with you Richie. The pic does leave a little to the imagination though. It does appear to be a yellow colored blizzard with a pattern on it. I would like to some new pics when you can post them. Looks pretty cool though.

Don't make me kill you Jeremy... :)

It leaves a LITTLE to the imagination eh? LOL - thanks for being so kind buddy... :)

When I saw the "final" product it made me get the feeling that I had reverted back to one of my child hood past times... :) Sitting around watching those cheesy Godzilla flicks!

Heck it even comes with the HORRIBLE picture quality that we're all so very, very used to where me and my pics are concerned!

Oh yeah, you did beat Overton to it didn't you.... That in itself is a feat my friend!
