In case most of you have not noticed, I made changes to the donation amounts as well as the durations for all of the paid membership levels. Things are winding down here, and this seems to be the most prudent way to deal with the "end of life" period of this site.
Contributor level members - $10 per 30 days
Sponsors - Eliminated

Endowment level members - $50 per 30 days

Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

You bring up an interesting point, and probably the main reason so many people apparently fear the BOI. BS, lies, and half-truths won't get you very far in here. Anyone whom picks up the blade, with the intention of cutting someone else, needs to be fully prepared that they can get cut with it as well, if their grip is not solid and sure on the handle.
And I fully believe that is the way it SHOULD be in here.

I've purchased 3 of my pets from Upstate Exotics and I'm very pleased with the outcome. My first purchase was easy and rewarding in the same. I was able to get the bird I was looking for. It was healthy and beautiful. It was so successful I have purchased a second bird and also a gecko. I'm pleased with the business and can't believe the horrible things that I have seen people say on this sight. I would recomment Upstate Exotics to anyone who loves animals. All of the animals I have purchased from them have not appeared to be abused in anyway and all checked out healthy.

Okay, maybe I am off here, but Veronica, are those pictures of YOUR amel fat-tails and is that YOUR picture? I remember seeing that picture in an ad a few days ago on kingsnake.
Not trying to "pick," but if you're using a picture that isn't yours while stating it is or not giving credit to the owner of the picture, that is not a good thing.
Also, not trying to dredge up anything, but what is this picture that was deleted? Did I miss something important?
And I did check around and Alison, you are right, no license other than a business license is needed in NY state. I apologize, but even after finding this out, it is still hard to swallow there are no further permitting or regulating systems involved in a retail pet business, but I guess that's how they do it up there.
And by the way, I was reading your ad for a columbian boa on kingsnake, and whoa, not to be rude, but that is NOT the picture I would put up ANYWHERE to sell ANYTHING. But hey, that's just ME. lol

And for everyone wondering...waxworm likes picking on me for pictures taken. First he had a problem with my iguana, so I changed the picture...so he had to let everyone know I changed it...so we took another picture which I thought he'd enjoy...which waxworm reported to the webslave (hence the insert of text where the picture was). Just trying to have a sense of humor with all this....it's all you can do.
Don't understand how they can take a picture off, if it "offends" someone, but can leave this thread posted public not caring who it offends.
Oh well....so it goes.
