In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Well. I had a rough day. Not in comparison to others, but for me.. rough.

got up at 3.30 am.. went out to a field with a friend and watched the deer roam until about 5.30.

a nice start (minus the mosquitoes)

then from 6am to 2.30 (minus an hour for lunch) I helped her weed her garden.

Finally got to go home.. super sore and tired.

now the fun starts. *insert sarcasm here*

I have a Cane Corso, (112#) and a Staffordshire Terrier (45#)

Hubby gave them the wrong treats (my fault for forgetting to get rid of them)

they are allergic to them, and they had HORRIBLE diarrhea ALLLlllll over.. I mean like.. Horror movie graphic. They were in their kennel.. and it filled the tray, was on the walls the floor.. all over THEM.. just horrid.

So. I chained them up outside, bathed them, washed the kennel.. clean the room.. (carpeted) ugh..

I then go upstairs to do my "animal" check..

Apollo.. one of my Quakers.. is dead on the bottom of his cage. I have had him for 7 years now. He is a clutch mate to my other one (Artemis)

He was 8 years old. Was acting normal as of last night. (ie eating, drinking, biting, laughing, etc)

We will be getting a Necropsy done, as I do have 2 other birds.

He may have been my "evil satan quaker", but I loved him. He was mean as hell, but HILARIOUS. He would talk and talk and mimic everything.. I have sinus issues, and he would mock sneeze and sniffle right after me.

he would say "kissy kissy" and "Gimme a kiss, I LOooooOOOVE YOOUUuu" then, the first chance he got, would bit, and say "OOOOUWWWW" then laugh!!

mommas little :censored: head. lol

I DID accidentally teach him the phrase "ouch, don't bite you little f****r"

anywho.. Just wanted to.. vent I guess. (and thanks Aaron, and John for listening to me whine about it earlier)

(Apollo on the left, his sister, Artemis on the right)

Sorry to hear that Brandi. Hope they figure out what happened to keep the others safe.

Aw, Brandi, that sucks. I had an african grey that I had to give away, it's a terrible loss. They're more than pets. Those guys become friends. That's so sad to hear.

If there's anything I can do, say the word.

It sounds like it was an awful day:(. The dogs and then the bird death must have really been hard to deal with on top of each other.

Just wanted to thank you all for the kind words..

and let you know that I dropped him off today at the U of M for a Necropsy. They said it would be a couple weeks until all of the results are back. He said if he saw something obvious, he would call.. which he did not..

All I can hope is that it is something simple, and NOT something to worry about.

It's gonna be a paranoid couple of weeks :(

Shoot, Brandi. I know that sucks 'cause I've been in both positions (though in my case, it was the dog fire-hosing the car during a trip). We lost our red-belly parrot after our electrical fire. I kept asking the firemen to find him and they kept insisting he probably flew out a window but I KNEW he didn't. He came running down the hall after me the next morning as I was searching for him, but he died soon thereafter from the toxic smoke (the fire melted a PVC water pipe). That was three years ago and I still find myself calling my son's cockatiel by the red-belly's name sometimes. Just makes me sad every time. I'm really sorry this had to happen to you. :(

I'm so sorry about your little Apollo. I would be absolutely heartbroken if I lost my Eclectus; I know how much those little guys mean to you. ((HUG))

That just really sucks. Damn nice looking bird too. I had an African Grey that would bite the hell out of you and laugh after. Reading that part sure brought a smile to my face, because I know exactly what that looks like. At least you have some fond memories. :D

Hope that it just turns out to be a fluke, and not something contagious. Sorry for your loss.

That brought a tear to my eye. That's a phrase that's uttered a lot around here with all these birds. Every time one passes I am inconsolable for quite a time and the others slowly help me over it. I didn't think I'd ever get over losing the love of my life, Hijau the 6 year old SI ekkie boy. He broke a few blood feathers in the night during what we think was a night fright and bled out lying on his cage floor alone in the dark. I'm getting all choked up just writing about it. Shawn was out of town and I had to clean up and then bury him by myself. He's under our weeping cherry, and when it bloomed this spring I cried every time I looked at it.

I know your pain, and I hope you're able to find a way to preserve his memory that'll make you smile when you think of him. Quakers are such cute little devils.

awwww *hugs*

thanks.

When I brought his body to get a necropsy, I talked to the dr. that was performing it. I went into details about his diet, cage, etc. He was not only surprised that for once, someone knew what the :censored: they were doing/talking about.

He did later comment, and refered to Apollo as "fluffy".. I quickly replied, no, Apollo.

He kinda chuckled.. and said, " I was specifically trying NOT to use his name. He said most people would not want to hear their pets name at that time.

I laughed. I told him I was fully aware that my bird was dead. Hearing his name will not affect me for the reasons he is dead. Its the memories that make me sad. Its the going upstairs and not hearing him jibber jabber at me. Not hearing him sniffle at me, and such.

Apparently its not normal to accept a death that soon? *shrugs*

It's because most people get all dramatic about their loss.

Who wants to be normal anyway? Pfft. I'd take my abnormal friends over most other people any day.
