    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was given pictures of a pair of Proven Blue Tegus that I was going to purchase from Megan. They looked nice so I went ahead and purchased them. She went on and on about how they were personal pets and she cared so much about them. They arrive at my doorstep the next morning. I pulled the female out first. She had what looked to me like scale rot. Her nose had a nice gash in it, and her nails were chopped in half! There was dry/wet blood on them. Right away I was amazed as these were "personal pets" and she regretted getting rid of them! Then the male came out of the bag. It was a Black and White Tegu NOT a blue! I sent pictures to many respected people inorder to double check and they all came back the same. Besides being a B & W his nails were also chopped in half (not just the tips...I mean very little nail was left exposed, did I mention they were also bleeding?!!), and he had a bit of his tail missing. I purchased these animals as flawless and they were far from it. I also purchased a pair of Blue Tegus, this is not what I recieved. I called Megan Right away! She didn't want to help the situation at all! I was told "I don't cut their nails". She also said I would not get my money back and I could send her the animals if I wanted BUT she would NOT give me an address to send them to. I also got the run around, my dad owns a law firm, I'll press charges..... Her boyfriend was of no help either. I called her and told her I would be sending them back to Mail Boxes Ect. She could then pick them up there. I also e-mailed her a Tracking number. It's sad people like this exist in this hobby. I have some decent pictures as well if needed.
 
Well, that name is going to go on the Fauna "wall of shame" for sure...that sucks. Why the heck did anyone cut the lizard's nails that much???? And shipping a B/W as a Blue???? You have to be kidding !!!

John, that sucks that she did that to you.....

However, am I reading your post correctly, you called her and told her you were shipping them back to the maibox etc?

Did you actually ship them back to there, and if so did she agree to pick them up?

If not, then shipping those animals back to let them sit in the mailbox etc store until they die makes you as bad as her in my book.....

Obviously, no one is thinking of the animals here, back to back shipping with no guarantee someone will pick them up.......unreal. :mad:
 
I have no idea! She said she didn't do it. They were kept at a pet store (no idea which one) for awhile as she was moving to a new apartment and couldn't take them with her. I don't know the name of the pet store or Who actually cut their nails. I know one thing, they must have been hurting! It's sad, I almost kept them due to guilt. To bad I'm not interested in working with B & W's.

So, because you have no interest in working with B/W tegus, you don't care if they die?

Maybe you are in the reptile business for the wrong reasons, consider getting out.......
 
Sam, no one said anything about leaving these animals to die. I did give her a tracking number and she will be picking them up. I'm actually not in this for a business as blue tegus aren't going to make me a killing anyways LOL. I love the animals, just have no interest in the B & W's. This clear some things up?

Yes it does clear things up. I read your initial reply and thought it was in response to my question, not the other posters question.

Sorry I blew up on you. It bugs the crap out of me when I see reptiles, or any animal for that matter being treated as a commodity as opposed to being respected as an actual living creature.
 
I completely feel the same way. Sad thing is they were both very docile animals and would of had a nice life here. Megan wouldn't even compensate me as B & W's are worth less then half the price of a blue. So I did consider keeping them!
 
odd name...

Surely someone with the surname 'knickerbocker' can't be all that hard toi track down. Which town is she in? Have you looked up her parents? I dont imagine that any decent person would be too proud of a daughter that acted like this.
 
I do infact have her parents e-mail as well as she used it to e-mail me one time. I'm currently going through my Credit Card company to get my credit back. I gave them the tracking number for the shipment and they said I should have my credit back within a few weeks no problem. Paypal will put a charge back on their account and if they don't pay up then they will deal with them.

Megan Refused the animals TWICE! I called and gave her a name, phone number and everything to the UPS holding facility (after I learned she had refused the package once) and still she did nothing after telling me I could ship them back and she would happily take them. The tegus spent a total of 7 days in a box! I did recieve them back today alive and I'm just disgusted with Megan! They are in good shape and WILL NOT be going back. If Megan wants her animals back she can drive or fly down and pick them up in person. I WILL NOT ship these animals back. I will keep EVERY sales Receipt for every penny I spend on these animals. She already owes me $97.00 for shipping the animals plus my time. As of today she owes me money for rats. This stuff will adds up quickly! Soon she will be spending what I spent on them just to get them back and not lose double her money.
 
Well, that sucks for you...but at least the lizards are going to be taken care of...she doesn't sound like anyone who should be allowed to keep animals at all, IMO. Sorry about the financial loss, but am happy that the beasts are being fed !

I don't think she has any intention of trying to get them back. Refused the package 2 times is a sure bet she considers the deal final.
 
I think it's funny that I have her animals which I paid $97 for and my money back (credit card dispute). Wait untill she gets a chargeback from paypal! She lost big time in this deal and all I wanted to do was try and make things right and she told me to go (fill in the blank) myself. Her loss not mine! She will not be getting them back!
 
Why would I do such a thing? I can back up every thing I've said, there is nothing for her to defend. If you feel the need go for it. I won't talk to a scam artist or deal with her ever again!

I applaud you on your help with these animals. I hate to see people not care about animals. They are NOT a commodity, they are living breathing creatures. I am looking for a blue tongued skink and no way will i be going to her for anything! These animals sound like they are in very good care! Thanks for your help with these animals.

Sucks you lost money, hopefully all will go smoothly with the Credit Card company and paypal. Best of luck to you, and the tegus in the future!!!
