I have nothing against those that don't believe Matt said this. I was rather surprised when I opened the 3 emails and read that vulgar language. So I completely understand how some might think it's made up...but I assure you it's not.

From one Sam to another, I know you are telling the truth. Apologies will be forthcoming from those who unjustly accused you of altering the emails.

I think the prudent thing to do would have been to ask to have the emails mailed to them instead of accusing you of things. You know, get proof first, then accuse. But hey that is just me.

Keep in mind that I was initially going to pay him through PayPal, but he was going to charge me the 3% fee which is against their TOS. So I paid through MO in US funds.

Well, here's the deal...
Sam sent me the emails in the original format (i.e. one giant email that was one reply after another with all of the appropriate formating that you would expect to see in such a long discourse). In fact, he sent me everything since this whole deal started for him back in mid march.

The problem is that it is such a long discourse that I can't copy it directly to a post because every time I try to post it the server times out on me, and if I try to break up the discourse it loses a lot of the formating that helps to verify the authenticity.

So, if everyone is willing to take my word for it, then I'm quite comfortable saying that I have no cause to disbelieve the authenticity of what Sam has quoted here. If anyone would like to verify things for themselves, then I could always forward the emails to them (as long as Sam doesn't mind).

As for some of the conversation concerning Matt's mental state, it is not at all unusual for someone who is mentally unstable to continue to destabilize and/or increase their rate of destabilization when under increased stress. There is no doubt in my mind that the events of the last several months have been a huge stress on Matt (in spite of his adamant denial of the fact), and that stress (along with whatever else is going on in his life that might be contributing) coupled with any possible substance abuse issues (which I think is very likely) could account for why we're seeing what appears to be an acceleration of Matt's downward spiral.

My own gestalt of the situation is that Matt is a man with some long standing emotional/psychiatric problems who has unwittingly tried to stand on the often slippery slope of mental health propped up by his religion, all the while wearing nothing but smooth soled sandals. The fall was inevitable.

Intervention is key for him at this point. Quite frankly, it could mean the difference between life and death for the man.

I agree with Jay about the likely problem. Matt clearly has major mental health issues and is very likely "medicating" himself. His recent behavior comes as no surprise to me. Frankly nothing would surprise me with respect to him anymore. He is very volatile and has a great deal of anger. Simply put, he is a ticking time bomb. I doubt that he can hold what's left of his business together for much longer.

I should point out that while he is a sick man, this does not excuse his behavior. What it does mean is that if and when he asks for help he should get it, hopefully from qualified medical professionals.
