In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

BEWARE Heather Tankersley & Evan Thomas of East Hampton, PA

As Stephanie stated, I too, have multiple confirmed addresses with Paypal. Both my home and work addresses are verified and either can be used to accept shipment. It's been that way for years.

Dennis,

I missed the part where she is unverified but it did say she had a "confirmed" shipping address. I'm not certain what that means.

Looking at Paypal's rules for getting an address "verified", here it is again:
A confirmed address is an address that has been reviewed by PayPal and found to be safer than addresses that do not have similar characteristics. PayPal provides confirmed addresses to help sellers make informed decisions when shipping goods.

While PayPal confirms addresses, there are things that you can do to help PayPal confirm a specific address:

1. Add a credit card to a PayPal account. Once completed, the address on file with your credit card company is confirmed on your PayPal account.
2. Apply and be approved for a PayPal Plus Credit Card or PayPal Buyer Credit. Once approved, the address on your application is confirmed on your PayPal account.

OR
3. Confirm your address through Alternative Address Confirmation.

To qualify for Alternative Address Confirmation, you must meet the following requirements:

1. Be a Verified U.S. PayPal member in good standing.
2. Be a PayPal member for more than 90 days.
3. Have a Community Participation buyer number more than 10.
Option 1 requires one to use the address to which the statement is sent. Since most often it is mailed, it will go to the PO Box if that's what one uses.

Option 2 requires getting a PayPal credit card. Since the statements would go to the PO Box that might or might not pose a problem.

Option 3 requires at least 11 ("more than 10") transactions. That might take me a year or more to do.

Bob, not all of us are business owners and can have credit cards at our business address.

I say all this because in the early days of PayPal, long before eBay acquired them, I lived in a small town in New England where the end of my driveway was a quarter mile down a hill (and back up) and snow plows would either plow the mailbox in or knock it down. One winter like that and I started using a PO Box. My "verified" address at the time was a PO Box since that's where my statements went. The Postal Service was not always cooperative and would occasionally "RTS" items addressed to my street address even though they knew who we were, and what box we used in this town with only about 800 addresses at the time, so having one of our credit cards addressed to the street address was out of the question. If a seller insisted on a "verified address" I would have been out of luck and they would potentially be out a sale, especially if they wanted a money order overnighted the next day with "tracking". I often got my mail only twice a week (say Wednesday and Saturday) and that was the only time I would get US Postal Money Orders.

In this case I agree, and have said as much, that I would not accept PayPal. But there are times when one needs to look at the whole picture, and as John said, and make a decision.

I agree. Looking at the whole picture here, Chris trusted his gut and thought something was odd from the start.
I wouldn't have taken the sell either. Not only because it is a brand new account and the person wanted me to ship to a different address than PayPal verified, but with the mere fact that payment was sent after Chris told her he wouldn't take payment from her in this form.
It shows little concern for the funds sent, from someone new to the service.

Then the buyer adds this comment.

And they took my payment, sent to you. So... let it all be
a lesson learned.

After that comment, I wouldn’t have dealt with the person any further.

I think it's odd that they were very quick to send a payment through Paypal even though they are a new user. But they were uncomfortable with western union because they didn't want to get ripped off. If Chris was so untrustable, why would he have refunded the paypal payment. :shrug01:

They posted a warning against him over on KS earlier today, but looks like the mods yanked it. They implied that chris was rude, unpleasant and coldhearted and that he refused their paypal payment and more or less insisted on being paid cash if they wanted to deal with him in his desparate attempt to sell a snake.

She can be housed in a 55 gallon tank for life with modified lid to keep the humidity to constant 70-80% which can usually be done proper placement of large water bowl over heat pad or bowl under overhead heating source. You are second email of 8 that are interested in her. The first guy wants to pay with paypal & have me ship to different address which I won't do. I wrote him back saying I either have to ship to verified Address on the account or he has to send money order overnight on Monday. Im giving him untill noon on Monday to get back to me. If he doesn't or we can't get payment straightend she is yours providing you can receive overnight morning delivery. I will need city, state & zip code to check. I will contact you.you either way once I hear back from him.

Thanks
Chris @ WWW.qualityrainbowboas.com

READ IN MY ABOVE EMAIL HOW SHE IS GETTING SECOND CHANCE AT HER BECAUSE FIRST GUY WANTED ME TO SHIP TO ADDRESS OTHER THEN VERIFIED ON? YET SHE STILL INSISTED I DO IT? I missed the signs of this having bad outcome after re-reading emails between us two.

I'm very very interested in her! Please work with me. I've been looking and looking, and believe this one is it. Please tell me all you know about keeping them. I have a ball python of 7 years. A baby Dumeril, and a Jungle Carpet Python for 6 years. What is your experience of these all getting along? Of course they are in separate cages, but like to bring them out together... so far the Carpet and Ball get along.

Also... how much to ship to East Hampton, NY?

And does your rainbow ever bite? I'm using the snakes for birthday parties and temple dancing for adult family parties.

Thank you,
Heather

Now I know why I shouldn't try to read emails at work. How the heck did I miss?

"temple dancing for adult family parties"

TEMPLE DANCING? WOW!!! NOW IM HAPPY DEAL DIDN"T GO THROUGH.

LOL I bet you are. I can't believe they openly added that to the email. Not that its wrong or anything. Just not normal to add to a business transaction LOL

Call me paranoid, but I still find it odd that it was NY addresses and a Florida phone number. :shrug01:

That is troubling though I recently did business with someone local (in person, he was the buyer) and oddly enough he had a Florida cell phone (area code 305) and a local land line. I thought that it was an attempted scam but it turned out he had moved up from the Keys about six months ago and hadn't gotten around to changing his number yet. Since we have unlimited long distance on our cell phones and our home phone it really wasn't a huge inconvenience, though it set off some bells at first.

She isn't hard to track down....

Just put her phone number in a search engine...you'll come up with her website.

I suppose you're right.....for some reason, I have just become very paranoid and trust no one. Well, almost no one. I see red flags everywhere....but I guess maybe that's better than hearing voices (depending on what the voices would tell me....).

That's how I found it out was a Florida number, but no website came up. If the website is about "adult family parties", I'm kinda glad it didn't. :ack2:

OK.... that was a little too weird even for me....... and that poor carpet python!
