Hello, I just found out about this website a few months ago from a friend and I just want to caution people about buying Bearded Dragons from Lynn Hendricks at Lynn's Bearded dragons. I bought a female bearded dragon from Lynn at the Lonestar Reptile show in Arlington on Saturday the 27th of Sept. It was a sub adult female that she said she produced. It was a very active animal, and she let me hold it while she talked to me about her history. I handed it back to her and told her I would think about it and come back later. I was looking for a female to go with my male that I have had for 2 years.
After strolling around the show, I came back to her table to ask her more questions about it. I asked her if she had any health problems with her stock (she does have nice dragons) and she told me she tests 1 baby from every clutch for virus. I said really? How do you do that? She said she "kills" one and sends it to a vet she knows and has it tested for virus. She said, "knock on wood" I haven't had a problem yet. I bought the female dragon, took her home and set her up in a new cage I bought at the show from another vendor. I fed her that night, and she had a great appetite. The next day though, her stools were runny, but I took that to be stress from picking her up from the show and introducing her to her new home. Three days later, in the morning, she was dead!. I took her to my Vet and he suspected a virus. He then told me about a virus that has shown up in many breeders collections called adenovirus which can wipe out a collection of lizards, especially Bearded Dragons. Now I am worried about my other dragon and my blue tongue skinks that I have! My vet said the results won't be here until about 2 weeks.But he suspects adenovirus. I have called her number and have left a message but she has not called me back, so in the meantime, caution when buying Bearded Dragons from Lynn! she might have this virus in her collection and it could destroy other collections.
