    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy BEWARE OF BUYING FROM REPTILEUV.COM!!

Yesterday, I received an email from Sam MacCargar because of my website contact form (probably the fifth or sixth attempt to contact them - I've lost count). After some back and forth, he said he found my order and would refund me my money yesterday. So far, the money has not hit my account. I'll post when and if refund has been posted.

He did apologize for the terrible service but offered no explanation.
 
Well, I have yet to receive a refund and their site is still taking orders. I received a few emails from Mr. MacCarger about how their Paypal funds were locked up. So, it appears that others have filed Paypal complaints against them.

I emailed him and said since his Paypal account has been frozen, he could mail me a check. No response. No check.

There is a lot of differences between many brands, designs and engineering goals of mercury vapor, metal halide, high presure sodium externally ballasted lights. 2 identical wattage MV lamps, one desigend for reptiles will be emitting UV, but the UV will be much lower or even non-existant in a regular general purpose MV lamp. Simply put each under a UVB meter and you get your answer.

So, it looks like they have stolen my $207.80 and will not contact me any longer. I've sent them an email just about every week asking where my refund is and they have not replied since August 17th. In that email to me regarding their paypal funds being frozen, they told me if I shared any of the content they would take "legal movement". Nice company to deal with, huh?

Their excuse for not giving me my money back is the frozen funds in Paypal. I told them if they had a check book, they could simply write me a check and mail it. No response.

Their website is still up and running and they are still taking orders. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY, THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND NOT SHIP.
 
I ordered two bulbs back in June of this year... It was my first time using them. I had heard so many say how great the bulbs were. So I decided to finally try them out. I was really excited to finally find a MVB that I liked a lot.

Originally, the order was wrong. I ordered two bulbs, I got one and it was not usable( European). They corrected it and sent me the right bulbs after a few attempts of calling/emailing.

I wasn't thrilled with the correct bulbs. One flickered and neither one got warm enough to use alone, they both needed additional heat( defeats the purpose of a mvb in my opinion..better off with a plain ol' florescent tube).

One burnt out some time ago( In the last month or two) and the other burnt out yesterday morning :(

It has only been 5 months. I went to their site to find out what to do ( still under 6 months warranty) and they seem in over their head.... I feel kind of bad. For them, for the customers. It seems like a horrible position to be in.

I do not feel bad for the company. Had they done their best to make amends for a defective product out of their control, I would feel for them.

But there is post after post of people asking for refunds for unfilled orders and not getting refunds, and the site last I looked is active and actually taking new orders even as customers are ignored and refunds not given.

That is not cool or good business. I'm kind of mad he never mentioned back in July that the bulbs had an issue. I told him it flickered and he seemed like I was in the wrong for complaining. Told me how superior the bulbs were to the others... I honestly don't think I'll get a refund based on all the other people trying to :eek:
 
I've been out over $200 since April. They contacted me and said they would refund me my money but never did. As far as I am concerned, these people are thieves. They take your order online, but never deliver and keep your money when you demand a refund.
 
Frankly, I don't care about their legal problems with another company. I was a paying customer and they agreed to refund me my money and did not. It is very simple, they committed to an action and did not follow through. I've got emails from them stating that they would refund me my money that day. That was a long time ago. They lied to me more than once. Now, they are claiming that their law suit is the excuse for poor customer service and thank you to those who did not "bash" them on forums. That is lame and they owe me over $200. When and if I get a refund, then their word is good. Until then, it is just smoke and diversion from poor business practices.

And it also states that he is focusing all of his attention on that now. Just saying, things appear to be back in order and under the actual owner's order now. Might be worth trying again.

Well Mike, I took your advice and filled out another contact form on their website saying that I made a purchase in April and requested and had been told I would receive a refund but have not received it yet. I was polite, just incase their customer service really has changed. That was on 11/14/2011. As of today, no response.

So things are not back in order. I have over a dozen emails to this company about my $200+. The only positive step I've seen is that they are now putting some items "out of stock". Wish that was there when they didn't have what I wanted.

Also, I'm not so sure I agree with their policy about replacement bulbs. If i ordered from them and paid them and received defective bulbs from them, why should I have to return them to a different company? The other company didn't take my money and send me a defective product. BTW, this does not apply to me. I just want my refund. I threw out my defective bulbs and made a real stupid mistake by thinking: Stuff happens, I'll just buy some more from what I thought was a really great company. My reward for loyalty has been to be out $200 for more than seven months and threatened in an email with legal action if I posted any of the information in that email in any on-line forum.

Do you know their direct email? I have filled out the contact form a couple times too, and no response. I even contacted the other company they said to contact instead... that company responded quickly and told me they could not help me and I had to go through reptile uv :shrug01:

I called and left a message today... the voice recording mentioned an email but I didn't catch it/write it down.
 
Yes, I've emailed them as well. I did get a response back in August that said they would refund me the money. Then they said their paypal funds were frozen and that was the last I heard from them.
 
I have a reptile UV external ballast lamp and a heat emitter. I love both but I have had a truly horrible time trying to get in touch with someone to see if I can order another heat emitter. I agree very poor customer service makes even the best products pieces of crap.
 
Yup, I emailed them yesterday and filled out another contact form on their webpage. Still have not heard anything. They still have my $207.80 from April and I have nothing to show for it but a few posts on this thread.

I wonder what happened to the claim from the owners about being back in the saddle and taking care of customers?
