In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy BEWARE OF BUYING FROM REPTILEUV.COM!!

Do you guys think it would be OK to share my story with people in the reptile related facebook groups I'm a member of? I'd like to warn others and maybe find yet another victim... if you guys think it's not a good idea while I'm still trying to get either my money or product I won't do it. Of course I'd never say anything that's not true and that I can't back up with proof and never would call them any mean names and never make any threats. Just curious What everyone thinks about it thanks

Pretty much same story here. Place order for 100w and 160w on 9/14/13. E-mailed Cara, was told will ship 10/1, then nothing happened. She then said 100W ones were being tested, so I said fine, I'll wait. Then nothing. Contacted again, Cara provides me a invalid USPS tracking, then said they were stuck at the post office and was going to be shipped this prev Monday 10/28 to arrive Wed 10/30. Then I checked the tracking # on Monday, still invalid. Tried to call, no one answers, so I filled a Paypal dispute as of last night on the 45th day. Today's 10/30, still no delivery and a new INVALID tracking # was given in response to my Paypal claim. I escalated the claim noting that the new tracking is still invalid.

I'm trying to call Bob today, hoping for and giving them one last chance to give a real valid explanation and a actually real tracking #, but not holding my breath. Hopefully Paypal will honor my claim if ReptileUV does not honor the purchase.

Juliasara, all you are doing is sharing your experience. As long as you tell the truth, there should be no problem sharing it with anyone. Frankly, I believe a company that treats customers the way this one does, should be out of business.

Update from speaking to Bob at ReptileUV

Hi,

Some updates: I just got off the phone speaking with Bob of ReptileUV for 15-20min, and in a lot ways I do want to give the company, and him specifically another chance.

So he said the company switched distributors 3-4 times last year, got a new manufacture to inner coat (rather than outer coat) all the new bulbs, and also he sold the company to NEW management recently. He said the new management has been shipping all new orders after October right away - if anyone who ordered in Oct can confirm, please do. He's been continuing to work on testing them and catching up with the old orders PERSONALLY. He also said that Cara, the customer care representative has been going through some personal stuff and that he is realizing that Cara has not done her part recently. He said that from his perspective, he rather go through all this delay rather than shipping out 'subpar' untested (by hand I guess) bulbs like the other major manufactures. I tried to explain our perspective that not having a bulb for >1 months in a lot ways is worse than having a cheap bulb. He said he did not realize the extent in which Cara has not been adequately updating people.

He said that he has 20-30 packaged boxes and promised me a WORKING tracking # by tomorrow 10/31. I told him that I did file a claim with Paypal, but I will cancel it if I receive the bulbs. He promised that I will, and I still have hope that they will get here and I can cancel my claim after speaking to Bob. He sounded frustrated, overwhelmed, but also genuine enough in explaining the situation over 15min on the phone.

I'll hold off final judgment for a few more days and I think I like many others do want someone going through the effort to make a superior bulb. Bob does sound like a guy who cares about making a good bulb, but just doesn't fully appreciate the customer care side/business side of things. Hopefully that's the case. Either way, from what he said to me, after 'catching up' with all the pre-Oct orders, he's done with the business side of things and who ever is the NEW management will handle all that. He will only be involved with R&D/bulb testing after this.

I ordered mine back on 8/19/13 and still haven't received it. I've heard every excuse from the light bulb company sent them broken bulbs to FedEx has cut off their shipping rights to it's Paypals computer for the faulty delivery. And I too was told the bulb in the box was on Bobs desk and rdy to ship. That was back on 10/21/13 when I opened the dispute with Paypal. That day and the day after(10/22/13) I received 2 USPS Click-n-Ship labels. Neither of them materialized. Not to burst your bubble but what you have been told is the same stuff I was told only it was over 2 months ago.

Well, I told Bob that I had filed a claim with Paypal, so he knows that, and he said that's fair from my end. I also told him that I'll cancel it if I receive my bulbs, but I guess I'll find out soon enough either way.

How's everyone's Paypal claims being handled so far? Any idea as to timeline/process?

What makes me trust nothing that he told you is that I was told all the same things a month ago and have gotten more lies every day since then... I talked to usps and they said every time they make the shipping label and send us the tracking number they pay for it... in my case $10.05 (I paid $25 for shipping) so the 3 labels for me at 10.05 is 30.15... they then have to file a claim to get a refund for each one... why bother spending your money so many times for fake labels?

just doesn't fully appreciate the customer care side/business side of things.

Hogwash.

He is actually very slick in his 'business', since people are promised, cajoled, and lied to long enough to get them past the protection of Paypal date.

Did he ask you to check that out? Why doesn't the (in my opinion) lily livered coward come here and speak for himself?

Well, sounds like the consensus here is that I should lower my optimism, oh well, I guess I tried to give he/them another chance since apparently they were good to some people in the past. I still need a couple more heat/light sources, so I was trying to hold out some hope for good bulbs.

Anyway, I'm glad I found this thread and got my Paypal claim filed just in time (last day I think of the 45d period), so that's underway regardless. I was just asking to get an idea of how the process goes after escalating the claim for my own sake, hopefully that does not take another 2+ months to get the money back if it comes to that.

I hope you are successful with you Paypal claim.

13.5 Dispute Resolution. If you are unable to resolve a problem directly with a Seller, you can go to the Resolution Center and follow this process:

Open a Dispute. Open a Dispute within 45 Days of the date you made the payment (or the date of the transaction if using Pay After Delivery) for the item you would like to dispute to negotiate with the Seller for resolution of the Dispute. We will place a hold on all funds related to the transaction in the Seller's Account until the Dispute is resolved or closed.
Escalate the Dispute to a Claim. If you and the Seller are unable to come to an agreement, you can escalate the Dispute to a Claim within 20 Days after opening the Dispute.

You must wait at least 7 Days from the date of payment to escalate a Dispute for an Item Not Received (INR), unless the Dispute is for the equivalent of $2,500 U.S. Dollars or more (or currency equivalent). If you do not escalate the Dispute to a Claim within 20 Days, PayPal will close the Dispute.
Respond to PayPal’s requests for information in a timely manner. During the Claim process, PayPal may require you to provide documentation to support your position. You may be asked to provide receipts, third party evaluations, police reports, or anything else that PayPal specifies.
Comply with PayPal’s shipping requests in a timely manner. For Significantly Not as Described (SNAD) Claims, PayPal may require you, at your expense, to ship the item back to the Seller, PayPal, or a third party and to provide proof of delivery.

For transactions that total less than $250, proof of delivery is confirmation that can be viewed online and includes the delivery address showing at least city/state or zip, delivery date, and the URL to the shipping company’s website if you've selected “Other” in the shipping drop down menu. For transactions that total $250 or more, you must get signature confirmation of delivery.
Claim Resolution Process. Once a Dispute has been escalated to a Claim, PayPal will make a final decision in favor of the buyer or the Seller. You may be asked to provide receipts, third party evaluations, police reports, or anything else that PayPal specifies. PayPal retains full discretion to make a final decision in favor of the buyer or the Seller based on any criteria PayPal deems appropriate. In the event that PayPal makes a final decision in favor of the buyer or Seller, each party must comply with PayPal’s decision. PayPal will generally require the buyer to ship an item that the buyer claims is SNAD back to the Seller (at the buyer’s expense), and PayPal will generally require a Seller to accept the item back and refund the buyer the full purchase price plus original shipping costs. In the event a Seller loses a Claim, the Seller will not receive a refund on his or her PayPal or eBay fees associated with the transaction. If you lose a SNAD Claim because the item you sold is counterfeit, you will be required to provide a full refund to the buyer and you will not receive the item back (it will be destroyed).

I cannot find it right now but it seems once it is escalated they decide within 30 days. For the times I've had claims it is usually only a day or two.

Has anyone actually sent him and cara a link to this post? I think some one should as well as post the link on their Facebook business and personal pages maybe that will get their attention... I want to be optimistic so bad but it's getting harder and harder to... all I want is my bulbs I'm not looking for anything free or more then I paid for... I simply want What I paid for!

This post of a member saying she let him know about the thread was written in 2011.

I am not making excuses for Bob, but I know the issue with the bad bulbs really set him behind. He has not gone out of business. I think he just bit off more then he could chew. I went down there a few times to help him out with his backlog of orders but that was a couple of years ago. I do know he has had some life changing events occur which could have caused even more backlog. Keep trying to contact him about your orders, I am sure he will get it taken care of, I just don't know how long it will take him. I did contact him about the thread but was unable to get an explanation to post here for him. I will try again though for you guys.

Denise

I just looked at their Facebook page... they have a special going on... if you like their page you get free overnight shipping on any order placed between Oct 1 and Nov. Something... ugh I'm so furious

I sent a link to them in a pm on Facebook I'd love to have him post here we all deserve an explanation... as well as either What we paid for or our money back!

After posting a bunch of stuff on their fb page this is What I hot from cara just now...
Julia,
I apologize yesterday was a long day and I haven't had a chance to return phone calls even from Monday yet, Monday was long as well. I'm just now getting to all of the responses to my emails. All of the packages are at the post office. I have honestly no clue what is going on. I will call Bob in the morning and see what he may possibly know. I don't blame you on the PayPal claim, no shipping label is good after 3 days after being printed, and I know they are there. So why there's no tracking information is amazingly unknown to me. I have 2 other gentlemen saying the same thing. This situation has to get corrected. I have done everything I can other than hand delivering these bulbs myself. I am incredibly sorry but you are getting these no matter how I have to get them to you. We have both the 100 watt bulbs and the 160 watt bulbs in stock. In case for whatever reason Bob may still have these packages, there is literally no way, I will ask him. I have a meeting with him first thing in the morning. We had to postpone it because of me being out today. He has had no orders this week or last from me, to get out but 3 international orders my shipper in Tennessee doesn't have, the euro bulbs. I printed the labels myself. I put in your address and email. I know they were done.

I have been out today with a seizure and a migraine and literally have spent all day in the emergency room receiving medication and sleeping.

I really, really apologize for all of this. I am just as confused as you are. There is no excuse for all this. I will have an answer tomorrow! I have set a reminder alert at 11 am even to make sure if I have an answer by then to email you. And I also have one at 2 pm set. There have been no lies to you. I really don't want you to feel that way. There's a glitch somewhere in this line and someone is making it all right tomorrow.

Cara
ReptileUV

If Cara really has these issues then I feel for her but regardless, if she did, then Bob should have stepped up and shipped these. Is there only 2 people working there? There are tons of other shipping methods other than USPS. There is UPS or FedEx. They might cost more but at this time, it really shouldn't be an issue with the cost. They should be more concerned about how bad their name is becoming. The whole USPS deal is nothing but a smokescreen imo. I just ordered some stuff from The Beanfarm and they used USPS with Click-n-Ship label and guess what....it shipped the next day no problem. Now it boils down to 2 things, either USPS has frozen ReptileUV shipping privileges because of some issue with them or ReptilUV is blowing smoke to everyone. I tend to think its the latter.

I hope you get your bulbs for your reptiles sakes Julia but as for me, I just went out and picked up a Powersun and Harley is happy as a pig in slop. I might give Lightyourreptiles a try when the Powersun burns out since they got the Arcadia MVB and offer a kit with transformer, bulb and dome and I have heard really good things about Todd and Lightyourreptile company. At this time, I just want my cash back since like I said a few posts ago, with this bad of customer service, I really wonder on the quality of their merchandise now.

Your right... I spent oven an hour on the phone with usps Tuesday and the lady told me everything cara told me is bs... as for the quality of the product I agree I'm not so sure about it anymore... I use the Arcadia T5 bulbs in all of my adult enclosures and love them... I was ordering the Mega ray b you B's for 2 of my Hatchling uromastyx. Lightyourreptiles has been great so far I should have just stuck with them but after hearing such good things about Mega ray wanted to try them out.

Also it's really bad karma to lie about your health to make excuses for stuff... saying you had a seizure isn't cool at all... I've had them before and almost died... I definitely wasn't in and out of the er in less then 24 hours like she claims. Karma is a you know What and I never mess with it and use my own or my child's health as an excuse for not doing things
