There are several posts where people are concerned that the original facts regarding the original bad people, are getting drowned out by the new, so I thought I would repost some of the pertinent info, in case someone skips towards the end of the thread.

14. Don’t forget asking her customers to pay a surcharge of 4% more when they use PayPal. Adding an illegal surcharge and profitting from it as well. (reminded by Dennis)

Bad ethics, poor business demeaner, Liars, etc. some info is gleaned from other threads about them. Not an isolated incident, but a pattern that shows the kind of people they appear to be.
There is also additional compelling info that shows lawlessness, hate, poor morals, and any number of what most people would consider very negative attributes.

So "give me a call and I'll answer your questions" is now "playing f'ing games" and "jumping thru hoops". OK. Right. It seems a real struggle to come out from behind your keyboard. Fortunately, I know a few of the other posters here have the ability to call, and don't mind trying a rational conversation. I thank those that have. Sammy, one thing that happens when you have a phone conversation with posters here before it escalates into stupidity: your in-thread exchanges with that person stay civil and insightful from then on. Disagreement without the BS.

I can understand people not wanting to call to settle an "online" dispute or transaction, Jim. Telephone conversations, unless recorded, become a matter of "he said-she said". It's harder to walk away from the written word.

Sammy asked you a relatively simple question. All you needed to do was to answer it.

FWIW, I agree that neither party in this dispute is completely innocent. But how this was handled is no longer an issue. When someone makes a mistake and is cool about it, I go out of my way to help make it right. Similarly, had Wendy accepted responsibiity for the dead animal and been polite about the fact that the others were not of the quality that she had expected then Erik may have handled it differently. We'll never know for certain. I know that I would have. I would have taken back the live animals and arranged some type of adjustment. But, alas, Wendy was rude and nasty and demanding and a few other things perhaps. As a human, when that happens, the hair on the back of the neck goes up and we go into fight mode. At that point I would have told her to take a hike also, based on my TOS and the desire not to interact with her. So it was she who shot herself in the foot.

As many here know, I'm in the real estate investment and property management business. I'm governed by laws. They're my minimal TOS. By law, I'm required to refund any unused portion of a security deposit within 30 days of a move-out. Most tenants get it much sooner than that. But the ones who are assholes or nasty or continual non-payers get it postmarked on the 30th day. Why? Because it's in accordance with my TOS (the law and what is written into the lease). Further, good tenants, who treat me right, don't necessarily get dinged for every nail hole. The assholes do. I might, on a case by case basis, allow a nicer person to break a lease or move out without a full notice. Someone who has been a pain in the ass-- forget it. I stand by my TOS.

In this case, you can be certain that Wendy would get dinged for every nail hole and get the balance postmarked on the 30th day. I would do the absolute minimum that I am required. And that would be about her and her behavior.

IMO Sammy's question does not qualify as a "dispute" or "transaction". If it did, I could understand. It was just a difference of opinion, and he asked "Why". I am not yet graduated ... thank God... to that clique of younger society that thinks its all PM's, chats, etc. Jim O, in your life experiences, you may have heard of the "rolling 'why'". Its the shortest question in the world with the longest answers. You would also agree that in many situations so much more is misunderstood when discussions occur in writing than in person or at least over the phone, as it is one dimensional. I would put forward that a phone call with a wife or girlfriend is usually more rewarding, and of much more texture, than an email. I would also strongly argue that a phone call clears up disagreements far quicker than an email as well, as is my experience, and likely yours for situations such as this. FYI, I have typed Sammy numerous answers in the past, in thread and in PM, and maybe it was time for him to try a phone call. Of course, we all know that the proper response in Fauna to a request for an answer-other-than-via-keyboard is "f*** you", at least in Sammy's corner of it.
