Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry Big Apple Herps - sent wrong snake?

Not trying to be a dick, but why would you buy from big apple on the first place? They aee retail flippers that regularly sell wid caught animals and are among the most expensive type of place to buy from before you even consider shipping. Good luck either way and I would ask you to consider supporting the many respectable breeders out there by buying from them in the future if you expand your collection.

I don't like double posting but after seeing this post I feel like you are intentionally bieng lied to and screwed over because they think you are a push-over. The fact you don't like the snakes appearance in-person isn't "accommodating because they sent you the wrong snake in the first place. You don't like the appearance of a snake you didn't buy but somehow they're the ones "accommodating YOU?(if you did in fact wish to send it back) this type of thing pisses me off and they are working you over because they're confident you won't stand up to them. Even if you want to keep it it's now worth as much as you paid for it so they should refund you part of the cost or at least offer some feeders or something to make it right, and I can assure you 110% that they know good and well the snake they sent isn't the one in the picture.
 
I plead total ignorance, being new, but I should have checked on the corn snake forum. I didn't know about BOI until Rich Z sent me here. I really wanted the darkly colored snake in the video, but I didn't want to trust them to take this one back. I could see them saying she died in transit. She is beautiful, gorgeous yellow along her sides under bright light, and very easy to handle. It was tough to use my limited space, though.

As for supporting breeders, my first snake, a baby extreme Okeetee is from Don at SMR. That was such an excellent experience, I assumed, wrongly, that BA was the same from all their You Tube videos. Lesson learned. Cripe, I don't even know her age, but she's 4+feet and 965 grams. Hopefully not wild-caught.
 
You could ask BA about the history of your snake; they'll know, then you can backtrack from there.
 
I asked for info with the original sale and didn't get any...thought they'd send info with snake, but they didn't send anything. When I called them for age, feeding schedule, et al, they couldn't tell me anything except adult and fed one mouse (no weight or mouse size) once a week. And who knows if the info would be for this snake or the Miami.

If BA was one of my students, we'd be looking at some serious remediation time! :ack2:Lol. For $120 I got a very pretty, apparently healthy, (though it took over 3 weeks before she'd eat), very calm adult. Babies are great, energetic, so little and cute, (like Ayasha, my '15 Okeetee) but there's something to be said about the satisfying feel of 2 pounds on my arm or curled in my lap. I also learned a good lesson without it being a tragedy... And I've met a lot of nice people on the two forums, where I'm sure I'll find my next corns!:thumbsup:

To be fair, I'm very involved with my animals but still don't keep track of when they're born or use feeding schedules. As long as they're healthy and eating well I don't see a reason to document it, but that's just me.

I agree; however, age is important to many people/buyers. I've turned down numerous animals due to the seller having no idea on how old the animal was. I rather know their date of birth then how many grams they weigh--but as you said; that's just me.
 
With an adult, how do I know if she's 5 or 15 without someone to trust to give me a date? Is pay more for a snake that's going to be around for 10+years than I would for one with only a year or two left... Anything else is helpful or fun to know. I only have two so far so it's all nifty to me.
 
For what it's worth not all Miami or south dade cornsnakes in the wild are Red on grey .some are tan background . It could possibly be Miami corn . At first I thought it looked like the same snake with that aberrancy saddle on it. They really should do the right thing if that's not the same snake and pay the shipping cost . I would stay away from that place anyway .
 
I know there're color variations, which is why I verified the coloration on the phone with them before purchasing her. Also, the belly markings on her are completely different configurations. Just a heads up...things happen, buyer beware.

LOL considering the lies so far they could say it's from mars. If he likes it he likes it, good for him, at least it's not going back to BA and likely means the one he ordered was rescued as well, which is a win. I know when I was just keeping pets id've likely done the same thing, once you have a snake even if it isn't the one you wanted it's impossible to ponder giving it back, especially when its a snake you know will make you happy and money or breeding isn't a factor.
