In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just noticed some of my Blazing Blizzards have snake eys. Kinda took me by surprise. I got them from Prehistoric Pets so I'm sure there are plenty of other people out there with snake eyed Blazing Blizzards. Kinda cool looking.

VERY (not just kinda) cool looking :) He's a pretty blazing too. Is the other eye a snake eye as well?

That is pretty cool. I would have thought the eye would be a little redder, because of the albino in it, but I guess not. Is this one of the incubated-for-males they were selling a few months back?

I think I remember a year or two ago, people were mentioning that their Blizzards had different eyes....I can't remember if mine did, but I don't think so. I wonder if their blizz's eyes were the beginning of the snake eyes.

Yes, both eyes are snake eyes. I ended up staring all my blazings in the eye tonight and I can tell you it is weird. I have 2 that are snake eyes in both eyes, 1 or 2 that are snake eyes in 1 eye only, and several others that are kinda swirly black. If you ever watched the X-Files, do you remember the people that were taken over by that gooey stuff, and their eyes had black swirling? That's what it looks like. OK, OK, I'm a Sci-Fi nut. But still, that's what they look like! :)

Shelly, how many do you have in total...regular eyed blazzings vs snake eyed blazzings for PP?

Hey , Thats awesome Shelly ! I know others have posted their Blizzies w/ "Snake Eyes" ( they werent named that yet) in the past , they are VERY neat looking .

I also have a BB with this type of eye :slamit: ,from Wahberee and he recently posted pics of his here .

There are some that have solid eyes as well (just saw one on KS ).

I beleive they do start out red but must have darkened . The one we have also has dark eyes .

From watching my Blazing and both of my Snake Eyed RAPTORs eat , the eyes are fully functional.

Just out of curiosity we`ll be mixing RAPTOR , Blizzard , and the Mack genes just to see what happens with the eye traits .

Maybe a Snake Eyed Super Snow ? :hehe:

Ok, who else is going to go home to look at all of their geckos eyes? :wavey:

That’s awesome
No, I don't think so.

For me this whole snake eye thing is more than some different looking eyes. Many people say, their Blizzards are the shyest leopardgecko morph. Maybe this has something to do with these strange eyes?
Maybe they cannot see 100%.
Anyone ever thought about that?

Greetings, rhac

Well , like i was saying before from my short experience with these Snake Eyed RAPTOR Albinos and Albino Blizzard , they can see just as well as any of my other Leos so far . The Blazing Blizzard isnt even very sensitive to light . And surely doesnt miss his handfed mealies . LOL

My mother feeds him and havent heard her "yelp" (from being bitten) yet . :)

BTW he`s not skittish at all either . :shrug01:

Every time I see the snake eyes it looks weird. Can't think of any other animal with odd eye genetics. That "X Files" swirly black look would be neat. Could you take pics?

Eye Check-UP

I just took a head count and eye count :) I have 17 total, and here is how their eye color breaks down:
7 normal eyes
2 bold snake eye in both eyes
2 snake eye in both eyes but a little transparant
1 partial snake eye in each eye
1 1 snake eye, 1 partial
1 1 snake eye, 1 mottled
1 1 snake eye, and she wouldn't open the other one
2 both eyes mottled/partial

I'll try to get pictures of the X-Files eye, but it's one of the really small hatchings - it might take a while to get it. Tiny eyes!

I had planned on breeding my Raptor to the blazing blizzards next season to try to jazz up their red eyes. But now that snake eyes has appeared I guess I'll mess around with that a little bit also. Breed the best 2 together and see if this is passed on.

Some of my blazings are really spooky, some are laid back. My first male I bought as a hatchling was the spookiest gecko I've ever seen. Even half grown he would scream like a brand new hatchling and go balistic every time I got into his contaier - striking at me repeatedly. I thought he was crazy. No really - I thought he was literally crazy. But, he has calmed down now that he is mostly grown. You would never know it is the same gecko. Nice attitude, no problem handling him.

Look what geckos have come to, not only do we have new morphs popping up that are gorgeous, but now we have new eye colors to play with also. Can you imagine all the new stuff down the road in the next few years?

That split color eye gene shows up in quite a few other animal species, including some dog and cat breeds, mice, and others. It's called a "parti-eye" and it's genetic in all those animals as well. Sometimes the eye color is split top/bottom, sometimes side/side like these leos. It doesn't affect vision. I think those of us interested in developing snake-eyed leos could get some good clues as to how the gene(s) work by looking into the research already done on other animals who have it, especially pure-bred dogs. I'm betting the parti-eye gene(s) work pretty much the same in all the species (altho since I havent actually checked this out myself yet, I could be embarassingly WRONG!)

Thanks Shelly for taking the time to count. Are all the blazzings you speak of from PP? I got one last question that may seem a little odd. Are they really Blazzings? Have you proved them out? The only reason i asked this was because i always thought PP was flase marketing due to their low prices.

Thanks for your time!

They all came from PP. I'm assuming they're truly blazing blizzards. This is the first season I've every had bazings, and I never got into the regular blizzards so can't really give an opinion based on personal experience. I feel somewhat confident they are as advertised because they have not darkened like I've heard some of the blizzards do. Their color has been fairly uniform, with a slight difference in the intensity of white, some have a tad yellow on the sides. I'm attaching a picture of the full body of the same gecko I posted the head-shot on. Do regular blizzards get that white? Not a sarcastic question - I seriously don't know.
