In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Boaphile Plastics - Poor Service?

My service with the Boaphile at the beginning of the year went just fine. I ordered a 6322D (6'-2 pieces) with heat at each end. Said would be delivered within 4 to 6 weeks. Was shipped within 5 weeks. One side of cage was missing heat. Called a spoke with Jeff about the missing heat, he apologized and sent it out the next day and was received within a few days. I was never asked to email him the 3 times I spoke with him over the phone. Hope everything works out for you.

I'm interested in ordering their RhinoRaxx...i've heard nothing but good things about them, so I still plan on going through with the purchase.

I actually have their RhinoRaxx 15/32 quart combo and it's awesome.

I actually have a story to tell about Jeff's level of customer service; I was planning on ordering his rack system however a lady local to me had the same exact rack for a couple of hundred cheaper than paying new price.

I didn't order the rack itself directly from him, yet he answered all my questions I had about the material of the rack and wrote me an extensive email of what to use if placing the rack on carpet.

Emails:

Hey Jeff,

I wanted to thank you again for the help with the 15/32 quart combo rack. I was reading and you say that placing it on a carpeted surface isn’t the best idea. I was wondering, do you make anything for the rack to sit on if you do have carpeting in the room? Or can you recommend what would be best? My snake room is carpeted and I want to make sure the rack sits solid. Thanks!! Pat

Pat,

The center of the rack is going to be pushed up by the carpet. We don’t make a pedestal for that rack. If you place it on a piece of plywood or melamine that will help a lot. Or you can slip some 1/4" thick shims under the ends and take any extra upward pressure off the center of the rack. The problem is over time the rack will sink deeper into the carpet at the ends, which pushes up more at the center of the rack. You’ll have to work at it to keep up with keeping it more or less level across the ends and the center point to avoid pinching in the middle.

Thank you,

He asked me to email my info and still no response.

Alan, post emails please? You have to realize that they are probably busy, so a timeline would help.

Good luck... I had emailed them last year about some info on one of their cages. Never heard back from them. At the time I was looking to buy a stack of 6 cages for my boas.... the joys of the income tax refund.... but Like I said.... no responses what so ever. I had also contacted him via the email on his youtube account reguarding something I had seen in a video... no repsonse there as well.

I just finally gave up. Chances are I dont still have any of those initial emails though.... I just chocked it up to someone that didnt want my business.

one thing to always remember, as great and convenient as computer technology/communication is these days, they are computers and are very capable of mal-function and its quite possible that emails never get/got delivered. i would never put a bad guy thread because of email mishaps. now, if i tried calling or personally went to the person, and this happened, then oh yeah, definately a post. but if i wanted a snake for example, and i emailed top breeder A, and i never heard back, i would either call, personally go there (if feasible), or just chalk it up to him/she not wanting or interested in my business, and move on.

Which is what I did.... I figured he didnt want my measly 1400 bucks and moved on. If he cant answer questions... then I dont need to spend money. I refuse to beg someone to take my $$$$.

Well, Mr. Ronne responded to my 3rd email letting my know my rack was shipping today or tomorrow and that I'd have it next week. I appreciated the response, and made that clear to him. I mean, I was never upset with the timing. I knew it would be 3-5 weeks lag time from order to ship date. However, I still stand by being a bit miffed that I had to send 3 emails. I have no complaints though. As long as I get the rack, it is in good condition, and the deal is finished I have no issues buying again through Boaphile.

Mike Fortier.

I"ve also emailed questions, but never had a response. I'll be calling when I'm ready to provide my VISA over the phone, as I'm looking for the quality he provides. Bummer he doesn't use his email so much.

Called them over the phone asking advice on fixing the top of a 322T that had been split open by an adult boa as well as getting replacement keys and it was like pulling teeth. He asked me to email my info and still no response.

Again - I ask you:

Is this the FREE cage being offered on Craig's List?

Free 3'x2'x18" boaphile plastics reptile cage. Top of cage is completely broken/shattered. I have all the pieces. You could try to glue it together, but your best bet is to just get a new piece of plastic for the top. Includes built in light. No heat element. It looks like one of these - http://www.boaphileplastics.com/combo_files/6322.jpg it does not hold water.

If so - why are you posting a bad guy thread for a FREE cage that you may have bought already broken?

If not, and this is all some sort of coincidence, under which conditions was the cage broken?

How long did you have it? How did the boa break it?

Thanks in advance.

about 5 months

I'm still waiting for my total from Jeff it's been 5 months. Here's my emails he answered at first then when I wanted to give him money he didn't respond I guess I'm with southernwolf on this one. I will not beg for people to take my $$$$.I give enough of it away the way it is.
But I can say that the cages of his I do have work great but good luck being able to buy from him now unless maybe he went out of business.
Anyone else have rusty parts?

OK

?- What are the dimensions of the heater you need replaced? the one that was on there is about 21 1/2 x 12 it's going on top a stack so a lower wattage would be OK the room temp is 75 degrees I will in close 2 pic's of the space with tape where I need the flexwat to fit. and one of the old set up which is what is on all 7 of the other cages the other 7 work well but I need this one to fit in with the rest

?- How many black latches? 14

?- How many complete zinc hinge sets would you like? can I get black hinges instead 21 of them with the acorn nuts and bolts ?

?- If you wish to purchase the hinges from Home Depot and drill them out yourself to fit the bolts we use, how many sets of 4- Bolts and acorn nuts would you like? I would rather not go this route

so what is the total damages??

Hi,

What name did you order your cages under? I can’t find your email address on my history and you did not sign your email again, so I do not know who you are yet.

Those are our cages for sure and the parts are definitely available. The hinges we use are available at Home Depot. You will need our metric bolts and stainless steel acorn nuts as they are harder to find. The holes on the hinges will need to be drilled out. I have many stacks of cages with those zinc hinges and have not had any rust that badly. Same on the interior black latch hardware. You must have a really humid environment inside those cages or somebody has liberally used water cleaning inside those cages. At least compared to mine and what feedback I have gotten from others, that is not the norm for those parts. That being said, how many of what would you like?

I appreciate all the replies. I did not ask them to fix the cage but rather, for advice on the best way to repair it myself. Primarily though, I asked if they can provide a key that I was willing to pay for so I can open the latches since the original owner had misplaced them. The gentleman w/ whom I spoke was very sarcastic and a little condescending IMO. For example, he asked if I was the original owner and when I told him that I got it from a "local hobbyist", he replied "we don't have any customers named 'local hobbyist.' "

Eventually, he agreed to ship a set of keys for $10 which I thought was very reasonable. I was asked to email him my info to which I didn't receive a reply. Labeling the company as a "bad guy" is admittedly a little strong and may be inaccurate and I have no complaints about the quality of their products since I have read mostly positive comments about them. In fact, a friend of mine only uses boaphile cages. I was merely sharing my 1st and only awkward experience w/ them over the phone and their subsequent failure to respond. I'm sure they have fine products since they've been around for a while, have stood the test of time, and have a loyal customer base.

btw, I've since taken the cage to a locksmith and had them make keys for a nominal fee. All is well and I apologize if my comments were overly disparaging but it reflected my honest feelings at the time. sincerely, alan

well I could see the reluctance to quickly respond as you aren't really a customer of theirs, but bought the item 'second hand' (except for wanting to buy the $10 keys of course). How long was it from the first time you contacted them via phone and sent the email until now?

I have bought used racks and cages that needed new glass, repairs, etc and have always gotten good service even when I was not the original owner.

Animal Plastics, neodesha, vision, and freedom breeder have all given me support with used systems.

Sorry if I misspoke Tim, I didn't mean to say he shouldn't get help or advice, I just meant I could see how some people wouldn't be in such a hurry to help... like someone buys a corn snake at petco and is asking Rich (for example) how to care for it, sometimes those types of requests get pushed to the bottom of the stack so to speak.
I better stop before I go too far off topic. :)

Granted.

But starting a Bad Guy thread about not getting a response on how to repair a damaged cage you got for free is, well, kind of silly. I've had AP not get back to me about questions - doesn't mean they're bad guys............

I've bought all my Boaphiles used because, frankly, it's easier that way. The communication and turnaround times are spotty, so I don't bother purchasing directly from Jeff.

If this was a cage the OP bought or was delivered broken and then didn't receive service - that's a bad guy thread. Scoring a free broken cage off of Craig's List and getting upset when you don't get timely advice on how to fix it seems a bit overboard.

Frankly, it's also misleading. A lot of people posted here under the impression that Boaphile either delivered a faulty cage or that this was a paying customer that was being ignored.

Thanks all. I can totally understand everyone's point. Like I stated, labeling the company as a "bad guy" from this one minor incident was a little overdone on my part and in retrospect, I see now that I should not even have started the thread. I was just most frustrated over how I perceived I was treated over the phone. My bad and I apologize!

Jeff is very sarcastic - and what I think you perceived as rudeness was in fact him joking around. I think the thread, as you've mentioned, was premature, and in no way deserved a bad guy thread.

As far as the "too expensive for what you get" - we're all entitled to our own opinions. I personally prefer the pre-made, delivery included, and the look of the boaphiles for the price. I prefer them to the other cages on the market. While I do have some racks from boaphile, I have purchase racks elsewhere as well. That said, remember that just because it isn't your cup of tea doesn't mean it's worthless to all
