    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ritchie... if you're just looking for hidden motivation you could see it that way.  I already have a business.  I'm a hobbyist who just wanted cages.  NOW I'm a hobbyist who wants to support the nice-guy cage producers only, and sees a HOLE IN THE MARKET when I see one hahaha  If you realized that it isn't easy to start a business... you have to be willing to do everything it takes and finding the occasional customer is NOT the beginning... you'd realize that's not what's happening here.  I'm not sure there's enough of a demand to warrant production without a big company distributing or buying from you... but as a project, it seems worth looking into.  And fortunes are usually made not by creating a wheel, but by improving a wheel that's already in existance.  In this case, the production can stand tons of improvement and plastic fabrication isn't a new science either.

Have you ever gotten aggravated and complained about something?  Like, written a letter to a company or complained to the BBB or something?  Everyone complaining isn't looking to put the company out of business or take it over.  When you anger 1 person they'll tell 10 people, but if you make 1 happy you're lucky if they tell ONE other person.

People don't do these things because they're looking for problems.  They bother because they get fed up enough to say, hey, don't do this again to me or anybody else.  That's it.

When the company responds maliciously with denial, they are showing you their code of ethics, and what you're seeing is the tip of the iceberg.

I've only written a few complaints ever... and once I started I finished, as I will here.  The last one was to the BBB a year ago because i called to place an order on a palm pilot, they took my credit card info, charged me, CHARGED ME THE OVERNITE FEE, then told me the thing was back ordered.  Obviously they prevented me from taking the same money and going down to the corner electronics place and buying one, and after I complained first to them, then the BBB, they apologized, admitted they hadn't updated the website OR their order line and the order shouldn't have been taken, and actually sent me a free palm pilot.  I WAS SHOCKED.  It looked like they were just out to suck orders from people and leave them hanging but their remedy was eventually sincere.  In the beginning they said, "Hey you got the thing eventually, whats the harm?" but when I explained that i specifically ordered from them to get it delivered to my door to work on a project the next morning... they were like AH we see... this is unusual and the person who took the order should've been able to tell you, but OUR system was screwed up and the couldn't.  

This is similar.  And it's kind of like Tom said, this is also a channel you guys can change but i think you want to know the truth.

There was certainly no reason for Casey Hulse to feel like a Jerk. In Casey's case I was slow to get videos to him that he had ordered. I apologized and refunded the payment even though I had sent the videos already. I was at fault and admitted it. The fact is I do apologize when I have made a mistake. I would have done the same in this case if the claims made by Chris had been true. In this case though all I had claimed initially was that I did not get the three messages from Chris two weeks ago. That's initially all this was about. As more and more has been posted by Chris and Colleen it has become more apparent there is much more to this tangle web. Additional inaccuracies have been thrown out there.

Chris and now Colleen's claims are full of misstatements about what I have said or done. This is a typical debate tactic to misstate what someone else has said and then go after it. I never denied that it is difficult to get in touch with me. I never denied that had Chris called me once it would be possible that I may not have gotten back to him yet. Had he called and left three messages I definitely would have called though. I never denied that return calls or emails from me are often longer in coming than I would like. I only denied the particular claims about the three messages supposedly left on my machine two weeks ago that I didn't respond to because I never got those messages. That's it. Then as the story unfolds additional claims are made that prove to me that the entire thing is a fabrication. I gave the benefit of the doubt suggesting perhaps the wrong number had been dialed until the "overnight" claim was made. Note all my posts allow for the possibility that all this was a misunderstanding due to a wrong number until the claim that I said I could overnight two extremely custom cages the day after payment had been made. This is exactly when I knew this was all a ruse to make me look bad. Again I said that if Chris had claimed that the overnight comment had been made that he was a liar. I don't think Chris has claimed this only you Colleen have claimed that Chris said so. Claims that I said I could overnight cages that have not been built the day after payment was recieved. This is not possible and I never would have said so.

The comment about me "patting myself on the back" is also a telling one.

I NEVER attack customers. Colleen has claimed she is going to be a competitor and is not a customer. I do stand my ground when inaccurate claims are made about me though. I apologize when I am wrong and defend myself when inaccurately accused. None of my posts were about attacking anyone until I knew that there were lies being told. The "Overnight" claim being the first absolute lie.

Colleen claims she will be up and running with a cage cage business in twelve weeks. We will remember the fact that the first anyone ever heard of her cage business was here tearing into me making claims that are untrue.

Lets assume for one moment that what was claimed in the first post made by Chris was true. Lets assume he did call me three times leaving messages. If I had gotten those messages and not returned those calls I would have apologized. I have apologized many many times in my lifetime. I do not have a difficult time apologizing when I am wrong. Why wouldn't I have apologized? Why? It wouldn't have been any big deal at all. Just a small bump in the road of what is my very busy life. But I did not apologize because I had not gotten those messages. That is the bottom line here. This first post by Chris was not a post about the frustration of not being able to get in touch with me but an attempt to start a nasty rumor stating "Topic: Boaphile Plastics, Out of business? Again?". This was obviously a veiled attack that had nothing to do with what was claimed.

Then we find out that Colleen claims she is starting a plastic cage business of her own. The vindictive nature of the over reaction that everyone here has been a witness to, I think obviously shows the true motivation of this new wanna be or soon to be competitor.

I remain the busiest guy I know in the reptile business doing the best I can to try and keep up and treat people fairly and honestly. Call me or if you do not get a timely reply, email me and I will do my best to get back with you. Like I have said in earlier posts I know that the delay in my returning calls and emails is my problem and one that I am working on. It's hard to find good trustworthy help but I am working on it.

Yes, John, I remembered one of your first posts was reminding Chris to basically be nice, etc. and that this is a forum for information rather than random personal insults.  Then we all keep seeing these insults thrown around by Ritchie with no comment, so I wanted to remind him of your words.  Was that the question? -C

wow..amazing stuff here.
i recently emailed jeff in regards to a snake he had for sale.  
i asked him to go to the cage and verify the color of the snake which he took the time to do for me.
although there was a picture of the snake at his website he didnt blow me off or make drama out of waltzing over to said cage and taking out snake and determining if the color was tan or yellow.
hardly someone that doesnt care or is too busy.
just my 02 cents.
this is not meant to take sides..just an observation of jeff and his business practices.

Slow and easy does it.  One customer at a time.

Like I said, the forum guys get answered cause they're the forum guys.  We know this.  Agreed!  

Ritchie, the BBB doesn't shut people down, they arbitrate complaints for unresponsive companies.  

I think overnighting product is very reasonable when someone stocks product.  Even though the cages were custom, we're told the customization is simple... popular cage we hear, why wouldn't it be stocked?  if not, no biggie... just tell us ... of course, it must have been our responsibility to understand his business and ask the right questions... that's right.  You know, I'm thinking the PRECISION CAGES can be made to use a venomous separator, or whatever it's called, and I don't see a reason why they couldn't have a pass through also... and that guy was SO ON TOP OF THINGS.  Order showed up on time, OVERNIGHT if I remember right... hmmm he must be like a miracle worker or something... cause everybody knows cages aren't stocked.  OH MY GOD I'VE BEEN SO UNFAIR.  I just realized, the only reason we got on here was to post the question about the boaphile thing, but we really should have given credit to all the GOOD vendors who help us out all the time.  I'll get to work on that.  Unless you guys think i want to go into the worm and cricket and rat AND cage business...

I see everybody's backing off the "Chris is lying and never called thing."  Hedging already?  Hey, I've got an even better idea than starting a business.  Maybe I'll get a hold of the people who've delivered good product in a  timely manner and see if we can just help them promote and develop their stuff at no cost?  Ah, then that will remove all these wishful-thinking ulterior-motivation  benefits, won't it?  Oh no, now why would Colleen risk helping other cage places if she's really just got this big sinister plan?  Could we be wrong?  NO NO WE CAN'T BE WRONG.  LETS GROPE... If everyone does recall, on about the 6th post on this thread I said ok, its run its course, lets end it.  Thats when GI JOE came on and starting slingling little baby comments.  Now Ritchie, I've been reading the boards for almost a year now and i know you're kind of the resident "Watch Dog".  But the watch dog is not the lead dog and i understand that the view never changes when you're not on top, so i can see why you'd jump to the defense of somebody who is another forum bigshot and hope to get something out of it.  And I also know how your feathers get ruffled everytime somebody doesnt agree with you.  Bottom line is Jeff never returned my calls.  I felt this was unsatisfactory, and I came on and posted about it.  Now how come the guys at rodentpro, dyer reptiles, precision caging, grooms cricket farm etc etc, NEVER had a problem with us.   We spend hundreds of dollars every week with them and OMG, they return calls, their product gets here on time, and THEY ALWAYS MAKE SURE THE CUSTOMER IS HAPPY.  Did you ever look at something that was nice but said to yourself, man I could make that work better, well probably not. But we can, and thats whats happening here.

Stop posting on this topic.  Its painfully obvious to all of us with common sense what the motive behind this post is and was.  Let them go and dont lower your standards to defending yourself with this matter anymore.  Your reputation and product speak volumes for themselves.  

This should apply to everyone else too.  Let them have the agenda driven tirate.  Why feed their fire and give them a platform to speak from.
