Chris he should pay what he owes, he has some nice rare animals from you. I wish you the best of luck!
I have a single rare animal from Chris Nicholas.
I just wanted to explain something to everyone. I initially purchased a pair from Chris for $4k (1.0 motley het pewter and 0.1 '08 hypo het blood possible het type II anery)
I paid for the "rare" pair in full in a timely manner!
In the meantime I talked about getting a pair of '08 het blood boas. I initially was trying to purchase the female het blood, but Chris said he would only sell as a pair. I understood that and decided to get them. This pair was added onto the initial 4k making my balance 5k (pair of '08 het bloods $1k)
I paid Chris $4,300 ($4k on the "rare" pair and $300 on the het blood pair) on time and without a snag. Chris said he wanted to ship the group together (all four animals) so he could access the money I already gave him. When we arranged shipping over the phone I told him to keep the '08 het bloods and the extra $300 I had paid on them and only send the pair I had paid for. He told me that he was not going to be concerned with $700 owed, who would ruin their reputation over $700 after investing $4,300 is what Chris said to me. I agreed, telling him that I would pay him the $700 if he was willing to work with me a little bit as I knew I was going to be really short on expendable income in the near future. When I received the package there was an invoice in the box telling me that the balance owed of $700 was due October 1st. I was shocked as this was never mentioned when we talked- that was deadline #1. I was also going to try and pay Chris when I went to Tinley as I had a couple of animals I was supposed to deliver. I was called a couple of days before the show and that deal fell through. This was deadline #2. Then after Chris calling and texting me to oblivion I set a date for November 7th figuring that would be enough time to move a couple of more animals to pay him. I had a few more people interested in some animals but when it was time to finalize the deal things came up (as they often do) and they were now unable to commit to a purchase. That was deadline #3.
I posted last week that I would have him paid between Nov. 23-30. I hustled to make a few deals and once again fell short. I did manage to cut the debt in half for whatever that is worth.
Just a little information for those who are reading this. This may or may not be relevant. I know that in this online world we deal in some of us look a lot bigger than we really are. I work hard to portray a good clean image where doing business with is a pleasure, not a pain. In this situation I bit off more than I could chew! I use the money I earn from selling a few snakes to buy more snakes, and I sold a lot of choice animals to purchase this group from Chris. I am not a bigtime breeder, I am not financially set, I am not employed at this time (I ran a painting contracting business for 13 years, shut it down 2 years ago due to economic downturn, finished school and looking for a Career currently.)
I am just a regular old person who loves keeping boas, I am a husband, and a dad to three daughters. My wife makes $30k a year and I make very little if any for the past 2 years anyhow. Not much money for a family of 5. I spent $5k on snakes with Chris Nicholas, which is almost 20% of my family net yearly income. I know that it probably does not look like a very smart thing to do....but I believed in the project and knew I would probably be able to move a few animals to help cover the cost of the new project and that if everything worked out nice I would at least break even with a couple of litters down the road.
I know that some may read this thread and decide to steer clear of me in the future and I would totally understand that. That is the beauty of the information age, we can find just about anything out that we want. Thank god for the BOI, It has been a tremendous tool for me and has no doubt saved me a ton of trouble. I also know some will read this thread and be totally indifferent. But, honestly that is not what matters to me. What bugs me the most is that I was unable to close the deal with Chris without creating all of this negativity. I am to blame for not coming through. I went into the deal without knowing Chris personally and expecting to be treated the way I have treated every one of my customers in the past. I have never badgered my customers for money, I know that things come up, $hit happens, and sometimes people bite off way more than they can chew. I also know that I will be paid when they can do so. Maybe that is why I am in this predicament. I believe that everyone has the desire to do the right thing and handle their debt. With all the stresses of life why would I want to add to it by calling and/or texting/emailing daily. Well, lesson learned and I hope that there is a lesson in this thread that all of us can learn!
