    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Is there any way at all to equip the forum's search option with the ability to search for an exact phrase? It seems like every other time I try to search for a business name, the search feature tells me that some, several, or ALL words in the name have been excluded because they were too short, too common, etc. I cannot, just as an example, search for GLK Herp. I cannot search for any business name that uses one, two, or 3-letter initials, in spite of the fact that a quick google search reveals there's really only one GLK Herp.
That's right--in order to find BOI posts on GLK Herp, I have to use Google, which seems to have no problem finding them among Fauna's BOI posts--but Fauna's own search function cannot do it.
A business with a name like "All Those Reptiles" would be opaque to the search--it refuses to search for the words "All" or "Those", and there is no way to force it to search for the exact phrase.

I've no idea what sort of technical issues surround this problem, but considering how incredibly useful it would be to be able to find a thread on anyone who comes up in a BOI post quickly, it might be a priority. It would certainly prevent people from having to make new posts and then wait several days for responses about a business that has already been discussed in the past.

Cassandra,

I believe that much of this issue can be resolved by enclosing the phrase in question in quotation marks. A search for "GLK Herps" yielded this current thread and, more importantly, this one.

I'll be darned, it does work with that one. It has never worked on previous occasions I tried it. (quotes). Thanks for the help. It still doesn't work with any business name comprised primarily of 'too common' words. (Like 'too'). Perhaps all the past cases I tried using quotes involved names like that. Is there any way to prevent it from excluding 'too common' words from exact phrases in quotes?
(GLK* did not work on the search, for the record).
Not trying to be a pain, just trying to figure out how to use these things efficiently. ;)

I believe (not sure) that certain words are excluded from searches by the vBulletin administrator. This is to limit use of server resources. In that case only Rich Z can change the settings.
