    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

This was a facebook transaction, but I do check the site here frequently to research sellers. Nothing came up on this person, so I decided to put the word out.

BigBoyz Lizards/Cleve McGee had posted an ad on 7/5 for a LTC red phase female Uromastyx geryi on facebook. I was impressed with the animal pictured, so contacted him. I had been looking for a nice female to match up with my male, but was getting ready to head out on vacation and didn't want to add more work to my house-sitter, plus I prefer to be home when any new animals arrive. I offered to pay in full, if she could be held until I returned from my trip in August. Upon return, I messaged the seller, waited until after the weekend and when I checked for messages on Monday, I realized that he had either left facebook or unfriended me - I was no longer able to send messages. I sent a message to the e-mail address provided for the PayPal transaction - again no reply. I then filed a claim with PayPal, it did show that he had printed a shipping label, but clicking on the tracking number in it gave the result of "no record found", as the animal was never shipped. PayPal initially declined to do anything, as they don't cover reptiles/live animals. I did file an appeal, since the animal was never shipped and was finally able to get my money back.

Attached is the facebook conversation and the picture used in the ad.

That's too bad- sorry to hear. Did you pay him as a friend or for goods/services? If goods/services, won't pay pal refund your money?

I would not pay him as a friend/family, as I don't like to see that abused. PayPal does not cover live animals - that's what I was told over the phone. They ended up issuing the refund, since the "goods" were never shipped.

Thanks for making us aware and congrats on getting your money back. You were wise to refuse the friend/family Paypal option.:thumbsup:

Frankly, based on that communication stream, I would have terminated the transaction a couple times over BEFORE he got to the GIFT request.

You should follow up with PayPal - report the account for insisting on the gift option as payment for goods.

I know - the thought had crossed my mind, probably should have. It was the picture that got me - if that truly was a female, you don't find one with that much color very often.

it is also a good thing that you were only gone for a month. PayPal absolutely will not do anything after the 45 day mark, regardless of what happens.

There's an unmistakable pattern with these people. For starters, they usually struggle with forming sentences:
"We only get paid thru family for friend we shipped out reptiles."
"We see payment in pending status when you goods."

At best it shows they are too lazy to proofread their messages. Secondly, if someone asks for the money to be sent as a gift, there's something wrong. I think there should be a BOI post made for everyone that tries to do that. I could go into all the reasons I hate it, but I think most of you understand.
