    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

California Reptile Company, riped us off!!!

I had placed an order with California Reptile Company- Victor Calabrese Owner. My order was small but just the same he riped me off!

The leos I received were really thin and had an infection on all there toes not to mention full of parasites as well. The Albino Nelsoni male baby had a bloody gash on his side and a scar on the other. The other snakes were fine-thin but fine. I called emediatly to inform him of there condition and he said to take them to the post office or UPS and ship them back and he would replace them but I had to pay for them to come backand he would reimburse us. After arguing with him he stated he would call UPS and schedual a pick up from our location. UPS never showed up that next day so I called him once again. He gave some story UPS was busy or something-Ya right- and would call again for a pick up on Monday the following week. Monday came and guess what no UPS once again. At that point these reptiles had been boxed and unboxed and reboxed and so on. He agreed to give us his UPS account # and we would schedual the pick up. WOW UPS came within an hour to pick them up. I dought he ever called! I called him with the tracking # and he stated he would ship out my replacement that day. The following day came and no replacement. They received the reptiles that were scard and thin back so I asumed that since they got them back they would re send out the replacements the next day. NOPE and not the next day or the day after that as well. They stoped answering there phone and would not return my calls. I called and left a message that I was at that point returning the remainder of our order and called UPS to pick them up and left him another message with the tracking #. At this point it has been 2 weeks and he still had not charged our credit card- I asumed it was due to the problems with the quality of the stock. Well needless to say when he received all his reptiles back on February 20th at 12:16 in the afternoon that should have been the end of everything but instead at 2:01 almost 2 hours after receiving them back he charges my card in full!!! Out of spite I'm sure but why we did all the returning we had to constantly call him not once did he ever phone us.

He said he would return our funds when he got around to it minus shipping charges in which he stated he was taking care of.

He is now under investigation with our bank, they have all proof of all signatures and dates and times of when he received his reptiles back.

All we want is our money back in full, he has everything back and we have nothing- out all our money and a really big headake. If the bank can not get him to fefund our money then we will take this to small claims court.

Please stay far away from this company so this will not happen to you as well.

He is well was one of our wholesalers. It is Victor Calabrese and Victor Hernandez the "cleaner" who works there. I have no idea what happened to all his staff we used to deel with. They are all gone but there vioce mails are still active. I just hope he does not do this to anyone else or if he has they can take action knowing it is happening to others.

Do you know or have a copy of his Terms of Service?

Most wholesalers do really have any guarantees on their animals. That is part of why they are "wholesale".

How did you order? By phone, fax, internet?

They do guarantee there reptiles. This was not the first order we received with them. I have been a customer of theres for the past 3 years off and on. His company has took a big turn for the worst and he has decided to do it all on his own from what I have been told recently. His stock has gotten really bad. The reptiles I received were "A" grade reptiles well were suposed to be at least. The representatives I had always delt with took really good care of us and the reptiles were always in great condition untill now. It WAS a good company but now he has taken our money and he has all his reptiles back and we are still out. We'll see what happens. It will go to court if it has to.

It was on our visa check card and we have supplied them -our bank- with all proof, UPS signatures on all returned shipments, phone statements and all documents relating to these charges.

The investigation team and there legal department are handeling it at this current point in time.

this reply is in reference to shannell sepvelveda's remarks made to california retile co. about a reptile order place by herself to calif. reptile co.
calif. reptile co. has been in the wholesale reptile business for 15 yrs. now and has strick policy of doing business with confirmed pet stores around the united states and abroad. when the so called reptile house placed her order, she had informed us that the reptile house was indeed a pet store and had a store front that was doing business at her location. upon finding out the reptile had been shipped to a residence our policy of guarantee was void.
with the ease of getting wholesale pricing these days, we feel you dont have to lie to get a good price and service. shannell, if you want wholesale pricing you better be ready to get wholesale service, in that i mean- doing business on the wholesalers terms, not your high spirited demands. listen i did'nt run your credit card out of spite, i did'nt run your card intill the reptiles were shipped, this is our business policy as well. the frieght calif. reptile co. incurred from the use of our back and forth shipping service will be substracted for your credit. i take this will clear the matter up shannell......
the retile house should not throw stones, at a glass house!!

No that will not clear up that matter! You knew form when we first started ordering from you we did not have a store front but did indeed supply reptile stores. All the previous orders placed by us to your company always went to our residence so I ask why you did not terminate our orders then. You never had a problem with this prior to this problem we just recently had.

Victor you stated you would send out our replacement snakes but hay they never showed up, that's why I sent everything back to you. You also stated you were responsible for having them shipped back at your expense and gave us your UPS account #!

You never would return any of our messages and to this date still have not.

If you will not resolve this matter in full with the investigation team with our bank then i will take you to small claims court and resolve it there. Do the right thing and refund our money in full. You have all your reptiles back. Put this matter to rest and refund our money.

In reguards to you Victor stating you did not run our card till the reptiles were shipped, your company shipped them out on feb. 9th and I received them on the 10th. I informed you of the problems with the snakes and geckos that same day. You offered a replacement. If the order guarantee was void in your oppinion why did you offer a replacement?

You did not charge my card till Feb 20th at 2:01 p.m. You received the rest of your reptiles back and signed for them at 12:16 p.m. on that same day.

Sounds like spite to me!

I have proof of all returned reptiles and signature cards from UPS as well as times and dates. I also have the bank statements of time and date you charged my card.

Card should have been ran back on the 9th before shipment not 2 hours after you received all your reptiles back. Plus why charge the entire amount and not the amount minus shipping charges like you want to do now to make it right in your mind. Still sounds like spite.

Unfortunately, depending on their terms of service, shipping may not be refundable. Shipping is like a seperate contract and if they shipped what you ordered, and you recieved it, they have fullfilled their obligation. With any mail order/internet type company, returning unwanted items is the responcibility of the customer. It would be different if he had sent you something you did not order at all.

If you didn't have any contact with him, and you used his UPS account number to ship the rest of the animals back, that was unauthorized and you will get charged for that and UPS could take issue with that as well Victor.


I would like to know from California Reptile Co. why, if Reptile House has been a customer for 3 years, you just decided now that they were not within policy?

I would also like to know if it is common practice for you to send out animals with "bloody gash"es ? It would seem that even for wholesale that would be a bit below standard.

Also, Shanell says that initially, you were going to replace the animals, why did you change your mind?

Yes I would like those questions answered as well. Victor was always not wanting to speek with me and I always had to go through the "cleaner" as Victor stated he was. Victor was well awair they were comming back.

The male albino nelsoni had a gash in the side about 3 inches from the neck on the left hand site and was bloody it also had another mark on the other side directly across from the mark on the left. The snake shed while it was in my care waiting to be returned back over the weekend. After shed the reptile was completly scared in both places. What was the gash and other mark from I have no idea at least it was not infected.

Yes I have been placing small orders with him for the last 3 years all shipped to my residence. Ryan was always helping with orders placed by us, he was the one who took all our orders. He is still under there voice mail at extention 11 I do believe but no longer is with the company to my knowledge.
 
California Reptile Company

We have had many dealings with Victor @ California Reptile Company and everything has gone very smooth. His animals that we have received have always been top notch, parasite free, and very good feeders. His facility has always been very clean as well as his animals. I was just at his place 2 weeks ago.

Also, as far as the credit cards are concerned it took him almost a month after I had purchased some of his snakes to actually charge my account.

This is just my dealings with Victor.

Great then when did he in fact change his policy in reguards to this, right after my order.

You see Rich and Nicole are great people, Great stock and Great service BUT they as well do not have a store front and do the same thing we do out of home.

You could not call either one of us "confermed pet stores". Sure I have all my documentation and licenses and do supply some pet stores but do not have an actual "store front".

I never lied to Victor's company have no reason to do so, he new from the begining we did not have a store front and did this all out of home. So you see Victor you do have a policy of selling to others who do the same as we do out of home.

VICTOR REFUND MY CREDIT CARD ALL BUT $10 FOR THE LAST SHIPMENT. THAT IS WHAT YOU WERE CHARGING FOR MY SHIPMENT. YOU STATED YOU WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RETURN OF THE BAD STOCK. THAT WILL TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING AND WE CAN BOTH WALK AWAY FROM THIS AND IT CAN BE OVER!!!

So should I assume from their statement that California Reptile has "Retail" animals that are healthy if you aren't "ready" for "wholesale" animals that are parasite ridden and have scars or gashes on their bodies?

And if CR was so concerned about whether or not they were shipping to a store front business, why did they not (for 3 years) bother to verify this? (Easily done in about 5 minutes) Now they want to turn around and use this as some sort of defense for sending ANYONE sick or injured animals?

Weak.

That's like saying "We're in business, and we sell cheap, so don't expect to be happy with what you receive."

Tries once again to call and settle this matter and got a voice mail saying that they have closed there doors for some kind of remodeling and move of business? But to leave a message and they will call back? I highly dought Victor will answer any of my calls or any questions posed to him here. I will have to see if he is going to open back up. I will keep everyhing current with this matter. Thanks for taking your time to read through this and find out what has happened to me.
