In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Carolina Reptile Exchange…going to taint a future breeders name

Glad to hear you've been doing everything you can to help get rid of this scum, Louis!!! And it's about dang time KS actually listened!

Now, if they don't just resurface in a few days with a new name and another dead guy at the lead.............

Louis,

Do you care to disclose any of the "conversations"?

Regards.

What does this mean for those who bought Hets...

If I was not worried now, about any hets purchased from them, I would be now. Has ANYONE, one person, proven out any of their hets.

Just wondering: Could someone sell fake hets for a few years, before they could be proven out, and then use that money to purchase a visual, and then post pics of the visual showing people that they could indeed make hets?

Unfortunately yes. You sell hets the first year. At best it's two years before the females are ready to produce, but more realistically 3 years for most.
Even in the best case where the buyer has a visual male to breed with them, the first season of producing no visuals isn't confirmation. With a small clutch it isn't even cause for alarm.
Second season with no visuals raises questions, and for many is enough circumstantial evidence to highly suspect they are not hets. At this point the hets are five years old, and in the preceeding five years more and more hets have been sold to other people.
A few questions might have been raised earlier by fake het males who could have been bred at an earlier age, but you'll have a minimum of four years before serious questions are raised.

However, buying visuals will not necessarily help at this point. 2-3 consecutive seasons of those hets producing no visuals will be enough evidence to convince anyone that the seller has been running a scam and owning visuals will really do nothing to help that situation. However, in the 4-5 years they ran the scam, they brought in thousands of dollars, and even after the word is out, there will still be a significant percentage of potential buyers that do not know of their tactics. While sales will decrease, then can most likely squeeze an additional year or two out of it before being forced to disappear.

In the case that brought about this thread, they just made a stupid mistake. They should have never offered animals produced by someone not within their circle as something they are not. At the same time, I'm sure CRE has realized that the gravy train is about to stop. They've had their run, and it's getting time for the conclusive evidence to be seen. Therefore it's not a great risk they're taking, since they are likely already planning to execute their exit strategy.
Regardless of the low possibility of actually losing a lawsuit, they can find themselves in a few, which costs money anyway.

If I remember correctly I have seen the CRE table at a few shows. They had a pied, and albino, and a few other morphs there as display. Granted they weren't the best looking animals, nor in the best condition, but I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't sold a fair number of genuine hets as well. The reason being, when questions start being raised they will have customers available that have proven out animals purchased from them to add confusion and possibly a little weight to their insistance that it's just bad odds and the animals believed not to be het will prove out if given another chance.
It's all smoke and mirrors, and overall a pretty well planned scam. They claimed to be a co-op, a strategy that allowed them to offer animals at better prices. All the while they were selling normals as hets, so even when selling the hets at a huge discount were making a huge profit. Selling normals like that also allowed then to have an unlimited supply of their "hets", so they could fill every order made.
When they first came on the scene a few years ago I actually considered buying a few things from them, especially considering I could just drive down and pick them up. After seeing their table though, I knew I didn't want anything from their facility and even then had my suspicions about their intentions.

I have been back and forth between KS and im not really trying to burn that bridge by verbally assaulting them. I may need that bridge to sell my animals in the future. You feel me?

Just a quick side note for those of you that want to capture pictures etc. Most of us know about using the print screen button and then converting the picture over into infranview etc. But, I have found a much easier way of accomplishing this, not to mention it's very useful for other purposes.

If you go to www.cutepdf.com you can download for free their pdf conversion tool. Then, you go to CRE's advertisement on Kingsnake and simply click on the File button in your upper lefthand portion of your screen. From there, click on print and your print menu will come up. Instead of telling it to print to xyz printer, pull down that menu and you will see the words cutepdf. Tell it to print to that printer. When you do this, the save as window opens asking you what file you want to save this pdf into. I simply have a separate file on my desktop that I save items of this nature to.

This way, you save the attachments as pdf's which you can not only easily email to others but you can also upload the pdf's as a jpeg to Fauna etc. No more conversions etc. It takes you all but 5 seconds to instantly save these type of items.

Anyways, just thought I would throw that in especially when you're dealing with the likes of CRE. You have to be able to capture their deceit while it's occurring vs waiting and having the add pulled.

I have a personal policy that I will never buy so much as a pinky mouse from any vendor that deals in venomoids. In my experience, most don't give a #@%* about their snakes and are engaged in any number of other shady business practices. (Shipping cobras via the USPS, doing surgery in their garage and then selling the result as "done by a licensed veterinarian" etc.) And the folks at CRE go a long way toward fostering ALL those stereotypes and then some.

I'll grant you that CRE goes below and beyond the call of duty wrt scumminess, but they're not alone in the Hall of Shame. I've yet to see anyone in the Venomoid business who was known for doing the right thing by customers and snakes. If anyone wants to produce a counterexample, I will gladly stand corrected, but so far this policy has worked just fine for me and every day I see more reason to hold to it.

I have a suggestion. Just have everyone do what I do. Whenever I see them posting an ad, I always reply with "go away scammers". I think if they get hundreds of e-mails like that a day it won't be worth their efforts to advertise any more.
They are obvious scum and need to be banned from the industry.

In a perfect world Scott, unfortunately it only takes one person that does not frequent this sight to buy from them and that's how they stay in business!

Um,....anyone else notice all the ads from them are gone?! Maybe someone at kingsnake finally realized what pieces of crap these guys are!

Mark, that's what were were talking about several posts back, lol.

I don't think it has anything to do with someone as KS finally deciding that they are POS, (there's still plenty of POS that they let post ads there, right along with the good guys)... I think they just finally felt enough pressure, and this time there was overwhelming proof.

But regardless of why......it's a nice to see their ads gone! ;)

Just to throw in my two cents.

I got taken by CRE when they first showed up with their Het. Pieds for sale at an amazing price.

I took my lick, marked it up as a loss, and I learned from it. I'm not going to go into the HUGE ordeal and trouble I went through with CRE in that dealing, however, I would just like to add to the thread and let everyone know they are pure trash.

It simply amazes me that they are still even around. I read the posts saying that there were not anymore ads from CRE on KS.com, however, I saw one just today. This lit a fire under my ass. I have no idea how they are still around. How are they still in business? How has nothing happened to them?

I'm searching for the ad again now, but I can't seem to find it. I will be sure to post it when I do. Maybe it was already removed? I did a search on yahoo for Carolina Reptile Exchange at Kingsnake.com and found where they had posted an ad on the 23rd and 26th, but they had both expired. I will continue searching.

I don't care if they selling snakes, lizards, or dildos. The way I see it, they shouldn't be allowed to post anything at all. I have absolutely no idea why their privileges have not yet been revoked.

I pray for the day CRE pisses off the wrong person and I wake up and read about them in the news via the internet.

is brucey sick?

Well when harry died.... brucey posed as harry.

what will happen when brucey dies.... will noah pose as brucey? oh I forgot. noah is brucey.

maybe elijah can pose as brucey.

REDEMPTION !!!!
I feel redeemed. all those people who did not believe anything we posted about CRE.

Unfortunately I feel bad for those that got taken by them and did not see our warnings.

To those who saw our warnings and ignored them...oh well. don't feel sorry for them.
