My personal best and caught on a live eel. It's very fat and had quite a number of bite marks from other catfish!
The length was 215 cm (6.55 ft) and the weight was 85 kg (187.4 lbs). The photo was taken by Yuri Grisendi who helped me also to weight the fish.

They could at least take the time to learn about the inheritance of the “ivory” gene, which as far as I know is recessive. On the other hand, who that owns a genetic hetero ivory female would breed it to a “normal” male? Yes, the girl has everything...except the "ivory" genes. Sigh…

If they need yellow bellies and don't have a breedable male and they don't want to add another gene to the YB mix, thats what they should have done. Ivory is the homo YB, YBs are the visible "hets" I belive that makes it co-dominant.

The only 2 morphs of BP i've seen them sell is Pieds and hets and Yellow Bellies. I see little point in makeing YBs that are het pied. Like I said before maybe they needed regular YBs and that was the way to do it.

Any breedable female (morph or not) is highly priced. It makes no sense to breed her to a normal male. If you breed her to any male it will be to something valuable. If you have a male pied you can breed it to him and produce yellow bellies (100% hetero pieds) and 100% hetero for pieds. How much is an adult breedable female genetic yellow belly worth, $7,000? Maybe more? If both you and I were partners in this breeding endeavor and you decided to breed her to a normal $25-100 male, our partnership would be dissolved right there in the spot.

It means, maybe, just maybe, they finally hatched out some real hets.

I was only asking because for a topic that was created two years ago, I think is a coincidence that someone will be asking about the Het pieds the same week CRE happens to be selling more het pieds.
