    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

im not trying to blame anyone else, and i have no way of posting pics, the heating pad was set on low and was used on the opposite side where the light was

why human heat pads are Crap to use... and why thermostats and proper reptile heating elements are always important. Also including Proper Housing and Lighting.

While you can get away with using the Exo Terra Heatwave pads and Cobra Heat mats without thermostats, its wise to use one anyway.

Hot water should never be placed in the tank. you should have been using a handheld garden mister, or automatic misting system.

Might i ask where you got your husbandry techniques from... im pretty darn curious to know..

Also, since i quoted the above text before... If the heat pad was on one side, and the light was on the other, there was obviously no heat gradient for the animal to thermoregulate!

Brandon, you're going to get crucified if you stay on this thread. You're set up is completely unacceptable and a snake died. How do you think you're going to be able to defend that? By saying you have other snakes that lived?
Light bulbs dry out cages, scalding hot water overheats them. You had heat at both ends so there was no escape. I use to breed BRB's and they don't need the heat that a common boa does and will easily succumb to it. If I were on a jury you would be guilty as charged, and the more you say the worse it looks.

I find myself in the unusual position of agreeing wholeheartedly with Wes on this one. I am sure you intentions were good but, the setup you described more closely resembles an Easy Bake Oven than a snake enclosure. I don't think this was intentional but, as Griz stated, simply a lack of experience and knowledge. I agree that David went a bit overboard on the title of this thread but I am confident, based on your statements that the animal died as a result of the setup he was in.

One other point. I believe that David's comment about neurological problems was based on his belief that the excessive heat caused them, not that the snake was delivered to you with them.

I would let this one go. Your own statements have pretty much decided what the cause of death was. You are not going to better the situation by belaboring it.

Learn from this sad occurrence and move on.

Bob I have to disagree with you, a dead snake is a sign of a snake that used to have a problem. ;)

Brandon I use to keep a bunch of Rainbows and I'm telling ya that your set up would kill an older animal a baby didn't have a much of a chance. They like set ups that are say low to mid 80s on one side and room temp or low 70s on the other. Babies need humidity at all times.

I agree the title of this thread could have been different but what's done is done. Now it's up to you Brandon and Chelsea to learn from what happened and move on..Randy
 
Justice is served....kind of. I am glad to see that Brandon and Chelsea are hearing this from multiple people since they did not want to listen to my advice on their poor husbandry. The only reason their other snakes are still alive is because Boa Constrictors are hardier than Rainbow Boas.

And since Brandon is having a hard time understanding the whole "neurological problem" angle....I'll spell it out for you.....I believe the snake was exhibiting symptoms SIMILAR to neurological problems brought on by POOR HUSBANDRY while th snake was in YOUR care. Capiche?

Brandon's stubborness and reluctance to admit fault says that he will continue his husbandry methods and more animals will die as a result. The Kentucky Reptile Show is tomorrow, and I will be there all day. If I see either Brandon or Chelsea looking to purchase animals, I will make every single vendor there aware of their practices and disregard for the care of their animals.

Frankly, I see this statement by you as pretty darn stupid. Maybe Chelsea and Brandon can hound you as well, telling all who come near you not to buy or sell to you for whatever reason they deem fit. In both husbandry and life, mistakes are there for people to learn by. Some learn faster than others. You seem no more capable of learning by your mistakes than you accuse Brandon and Chelsea of being. A pox on both your houses.

And Monday morning they'll be asking a judge to issue a restraining order against "the creepy snake guy who keeps harrassing us" (that would be you).
 
I'm not talking about harassing anyone or causing a public scene. I am friends with most of the vendors at the show and I'd hate to see them go through the same ordeal that I went through. Most of them are already aware of this situation and I've had word from several that under no circumstances will they sell so much as a deli cup to Chelsea because of what has transpired.
 
That's not the point Dave. Remember "perception is reality". All they have to do is convince a judge that they feel threatened or harrassed, not that you actually did threaten or harrass them.

Honestly, I doubt that either of them would show themselves at the show after this whole thing. That would be the best thing for all parties involved I think.

I think this thread has run its course. I've said all that I think needs to be said (and more lol). I appreciate the insight and commentary of everyone involved.
