In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas this year. Hope this time of year is helping to soften the hard edges that life has thrown our way in 2007. Maybe 2008 will be better.

Many of you will remember that last year I decided to present this site with a Christmas "gift" by unbanning and unsuspending all members who had been booted from the site for one reason or another over the past few years. I thought it fitting to give everyone another chance to be a part of this site. Perhaps they had changed and things would be better if given the chance to prove themselves compatible with everyone else here.

Being that this time of year has rolled around again, naturally I start thinking in this frame of mind again.

But what resulted from my doing that last year? Did those people who came back and participated take value in that "gift"? Thinking back, I would have to say "no". In many cases, I believe that those people coming back just continued along the same path that got them banned in the first place, making things here somewhat more unpleasant for everyone else. Not really what I had hoped for, but I guess not too surprising, all things considered.

So with that in mind, my "gift" this year to this site and it's members is to NOT allow those people back on again. To not inflict those personalities on everyone else here who quite probably sighed with relief when certain people were made gone once again after the amnesty from last year.

I guess I just need to accept the fact that some people really don't need to be here, and in fact, this place is all the better without them. And certainly you would prefer to have a safe haven without them as well.

Merry Christmas, everyone.....................

Thanks Rich, I would also agree, most of them are banned again now. Funny thing how some never learn, no matter how hard you try. :shrug01:

Anyway, Merry Christmas Rich, I hope you and yours have a great Christmas. :deer: :santa:

Merry Christmas Rich..! :)
Maybe you could clear everyone's warning points? That'd be a nice gift for the members.. (Just saying..)

Rich
Thank you for giving us this board, and for all your efforts in maintaining it.
I hope this next year brings you happiness and prosperity; I wish the same for all of the Fauna members, and their families.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

There we go, that sounds like a great idea.... :bolt01:

I don't know about clearing totally on warning points. Maybe remove 2/3 would be better. That way we would still know who the trouble makers and bad precedent setters are.

Ok how about this, he could just remove 29 from everyones? :dgrin:

Actually I am talking with my programmer about upgrading this software, and I have a whole list of mods that I have to decide whether or not to carry them over to the new version or not. Any of them not implemented natively in the new version will have to be completely recoded again, which will be rather expensive if I keep them all. There is a native version of something like the warning system in the latest version, but of course the warning points of this current version will not be transportable. So they will all be zeroed out at that time. Even then, there are parts to the warning system coded to automate the suspension and fine part of it, which I will have to decide to keep or not. Natively, the program code will just outright ban members who trip the trigger. Maybe that would be best anyway. So it's going to take some thought about a lot of things.

Some other features here may go away as well if I feel that the cost of implementing them is not worth it, based on value returned (to me and to you). A lot of those mods were done over a fair amount of time, so the expenditures were easier to absorb when spread over that time period. Getting hit with them ALL at one time is going to be real tough to swallow. So anything non essential may just go away, at least temporarily. Heck, maybe most of them will just go away. At least with the benefit of hindsight, I now know which custom coding projects are going to be worthwhile keeping.

Only four more hours and it will be Christmas here on the east coast. Wonder how many kids are in bed fidgeting trying to fall asleep? I remember as a kid resenting my brothers falling asleep so quickly while was tossing and turning. I figured they were already awake and opening presents, relatively speaking, passing through the sleep zone, leaving me on the other side..... :D

Mary Christmas. Thank you for all your hard work and the wonderful forum. This is a wonderful gift that we use every day.

Hmmm. As one of those who received the gift of being resurrected from the 'land of the banned', I supposed I could say, "Bah, humbug"...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
