In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Cindy Chicvara -aka- Dragonlady58 - take a pass!

I do see a distinction .....

Albeit an irrelevent one with regard to the topic of the thread. But with regard to Chuck's bringing up the pot-smoking habits of another poster who was critical of him, DZoo posted the following:
As far as someone posting who is an admited pot smoker? I just don't see how that is relevant in any way except to try to distract readers from the matter at hand. Caffeine and Nicotine addicts will be the next target I guess, so if you drink coffee or smoke cigarettes your opinion is no good either- watch out!!!!!
I think we all agree that the defining concept is legality vs. illegality, and the consequent respect for the law. As a Libertarian leaning person, I am in the camp that believe marijuana is not a good vice, but that it should be completely legal. That is also a conversation for elsewhere. Back to point, I do not think it helped Chuck to make the point, and was a net loss for his standing in this thread. While I have stated that I think the right thing to do was to issue a prompt refund, I also don't see failure to do so as being large on the radar screen. Can not Cindy initiate a complaint with PayPal? Not to diminish Chuck's obligation, but in terms of actual loss, misrepresentation, or theft, this thread is more about ethics, character, and etiquette ........ and maybe the "pot calling the kettle black".

"Can not Cindy initiate a complaint with PayPal? "

Sure she can but so far Cindy doesn't seem the type to make a big fuss about things. She didn't bring this here and as far as I know she hasn't seen this thread and could care less what goes on here. Those two box turtles could possibly be the only reptiles she has or will ever have. She's probably content to wait out the 7 days and move on.

For the people that should count to Chuck this thread has more interest. This thread has 4200 views and 100 posts. I read somewhere that a retailer should multiply every complaint be 10 and that is the net affect it has on their business.

Also, if someone could tell me how you make quotes in the separate green box it would be greatly appreciated.

Kevin

Cindy is aware of the thread and has at least read portions of it. I sent her a link to this back on day 1 so that she could respond. She emailed me last night thanking everyone for their support.

I also let her know that that she could request a free temporary membership in order to respond to this thread. I don't know if she will take advantage of that or not.

Regarding the quotes: Simply copy and paste the appropriate text into your post. Then highlight it and click on the "Quote" icon. It is located under the Font - Size - Color bar above your message and on the far right.

Sure, if you click on the lower right hand button in a message that says QUOTE it does it for you automatically. However you can also manually insert the tags around the text you want boxed (replace } type brackets with ] brackets)

{QUOTE=username} text {/QUOTE}

Hope that helps.

I think I've got it. Thanks Mike

The whole weed thing is utterrly ridiculous. The worst that can happen, is that there's a lot of hungry, happy, mellow people. You know, a bowl or a joint doesn't make me want to get behind the wheel and endanger any lives. I've never met a person who smokes who wants to get out and drive. I'm not saying it hasn't happened...but HOW many people are killed by drunk driving every year? America is hilarious....a marijuana propaganda commercial will come on....followed immediately by "Ride the Coors train".
Anyway, Chuck, if you ever had anything I wished to buy, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Your belligerent attitude here has obviously cost you a lot. But, I guess it doesn't matter, I'm just another "fat, :censored:"
LOL, I've seen 6 year olds talk with more couth.

So long as your comfortable with yourself its really all that matters. In the end...only you would be buried in the piano case. No one else is going to jump in to take the ride. Trust me. So why should it matter what anyone thinks? Right? Its your life, so do with it as you wish.

Anyway....just gets worse for this poor Cindy lady. As an update, UPS will not reverse the charges on shipping. I've been waiting for them to get back to me, and as the time draws near to process Cindy's refund, I doubt I'll have UPS's decision in time. As of now...she'll be charged the exact rate of $57.20 for shipping. Should UPS reverse the charge at a later point...she'll be refunded that portion as well.

Chuck,
Let me make sure I understand you correctly. You are billing Cindy for shipping charges on a package that you never shipped?

You sir, have hit a new low.

Sad...

I have the same question too Chuck, about the shipping. Are you claiming that you are liable to UPS for payment of a shipment which you set-up, but never shipped? If that is the case, which UPS do you use? Are you not in a position to "canceL" a shipment, either with your phone or computer? I certainly would appreciate your clearing up this matter, as I have a long-standing account with UPS, use it very often, and as I understand your situation, have had different outcomes with regard to non-shipments.

Um... so you imply that UPS WILL NOT refund you, then you say that you haven't heard back from them. UPS will refund you for the unshipped package, but you're saying that if they don't before PayPal forces a refund, you just won't pay her that chunk of the total back?

For those with active UPS accounts - how long does it take you normally to cancel a package?

You know...it almost makes me wonder now just how good having the Green Bow Tie from fauna is really worth? I was thinking of putting in for mine but now I just don't think it matters.

Ryan,
Fortunately, I don't believe Mr Kimmel is a member of that group.
He had previously been considered a good guy in the eyes of most of the people here, but I don't believe he actually carries the "Good Guy Certification"

At this point, I think he would have a very difficult time even making the application.

The actual act of canceling takes about 30 seconds on the computer, give or take, but it can vary based on what type of account an entity has. But whether by computer or phone, or type of account, it is a simple thing. More importantly may be how the actual paying and billing is handled. UPS is very liberal in that they usually extend credit for use of them as a shipper automatically. What I mean is that once you set up an account with them, you do not have to pay on the spot when you initiate a shipment. They bill weekly, and even then, you don't have to pay weekly. If you go too long without paying, you will get a phone call, and possible even cut-off. But any argument that once a shipment is initiated, it then must be immediatley paid before being shipped, is erroneous, unless the shipper has absolutley ruined their standing with UPS in the past. I haven't pushed UPS that far, so I don't know their protocols whaer the shipper is a dead-beat in their system.
As for the ultimate test of mirror self-observation, or being able to sleep with oneself, being up to the individual, that is true. As to it being a proper measure of integrity and honor ...... well, while the mirrors in jail are actually polished steel in most cases, and not glass, and the beds are not "Certa Perfect Sleepers", they have mirrors and beds. Of course, the integrity that looks at itself there and rests its head there may enjoy a lower standard than most of us would be comfortable with.

I thought that he was a registered good guy! Cause of a previous comment made on the thread about the good guys dropping like flies. This whole situation could have been avoided I know if I was Cindy I would be very upset right now. I have been lucky every deal made so far has been flawless.

Wow.

I can't believe that you had the balls to even type that, man...

Congratulations on going from a "Good Guy" to an "Asshole" to a "Bad Guy" in just one thread!!!!

2006 is gonna be a great year for you!!!

Maybe you should try a little of that weed you speak so negatively about - it might just mellow you out and keep you from looking any worse!!!!!

Maybe Jim who has better connections with F & W can elaborate on the following.
As far as I understand WC box turtles and alligator snappers are not supposed to be sold in Louisiana. So if in the previous Reptibid ordeal (with the WC pair/gravid female), how in the world was Chuck planning to pay for and receive those turtles? They certainly were not coming with paperwork as he clearly stated they were WC.

Here, a quote from one of Cindy's emails:

PS, tired of waiting at home for promises someone else cannot keep... no turtles in my Christmas stocking this year...

Cindy, if you are reading this, I am so sorry you did not get your Christmas turtles.
There are some fine people on Fauna, though, if you read the thread, many people expressed that they thought it would have been a good thing if you got your turtles shipped. Please respond here to this thread, and let us know, if you don't mind I would be glad to make a contribution toward your shipping if you don't get it back.

I've never even considered putting it on mine. Not a once. The only green bowtie on my site will be on the animated leprechaun's neck right around St. Patrick's day. Thats about it. Fauna doesn't dictate how I do business or how I handle customers. Its members don't either. No bowties. Not even if it means being labelled a good guy or even increasing my business. If Rich wanted his site advertised on mine he'd be paying me to advertise like he'd be charging me to advertise here. I don't see any benefits to advertise his site on mine for free. Faunas to me is just a place on the Internet, not a way of life or a religion.

I also don't subscribe to the fauna top site search thingy either. Its nothing really personal and not like I don't like this place or Rich and his ideas. I just have my own ideas for whats right for me. I guess I'm just not a herd type of animal. After all....I will eat the shepherds foolish sheep if I have the chance.

But honestly....with all the people who have screwed that bowtie honor thingy over so far....I do hope it takes off and eventually becomes what it should be to the people who need it and believe in it. Maybe one day I'll be the only site who doesn't have it displayed. Imagine that. But I'll still be there, suffering no fool lightly, or being obligated to do anything special for fear of repercussions.

I'm not afraid of loosing the the bowtie, I guess I'm just afraid I wont be able to loose it when I have to is what I'm saying.

In a sky full of people theirs only some who want to fly.....isn't that crazy?

Absolutely. I might add a 3% restocking/relisting fee for my time as well.

Another way to look at it.

If I vote a politician into office and the person doesn’t uphold to the standards that I have set. I don’t then say, I will not vote or participate any longer. I will actually make the extra effort to vote the person out of office.

That’s why you can vote good or bad and you have the ability to delete or change your vote afterwards.
If your peers believe that you do not uphold to some standards you will not have the bow tie very long.
