In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info Courtney & George Schertler - Retic Owners Watch Puppy Being Eaten and Posts Pics

Ben. The difference between your attitude and people who think, plan, and actively work to avoid accidents is called competence. Stop defending blatant stupidity. It's not excused.

Your wrong on this one you are putting value of certain life over live because of your personal opinion. I am not saying i support them or any of their decisions or housing set ups but it is their choice to be stupid with their puppy and they did say they had some one that was supposed to be watching the dog. For the two snakes living together, I know most people are against but it has been spotted in the wild on multiple occasions so if they get along I do not see the problem with it. Their choice to post the picture of the dog being eaten is entirely their choice just because you don't like does not make it wrong or right.
I read it completely it is not okay to attack someone or post anything negative on a public forum over an opinion
And I never said that they had I said it as snakes in general of different species have been seen living together including pythons
It is their snake they can let it roam on their property if they choose, irresponsible or not and I am sure they didn't want their dog to die.
that is ridiculous accidents happen and are unavoidable hence the term accident

It seems as if you are defending the actions of these people using varying reasons. Each of your defenses do not seem well thought out. It is my opinion that having one's pet dog eaten by one's snake is avoidable by planning and care.

Exactly.

So allowing to have a puppy run around this snake was an accident? That's like allowing your kid to play in traffic and when he is hit by a car, calling it an accident... Think about it... Could have been avoided.

I own several dogs and cats and a large, 4 year old reticulated python and none of the mammals are allowed in the room with the snake when she is out, when I am feeding or servicing the cage. This is called common sense and it is very obvious that these individuals don't have any.

The only animals of mine I am looking to breed and sell would be my boa constrictors and I agree with the placement of this thread here. I would not want to release any of my animals into the care of such careless people.

Please keep in mind that this is a BOI thread, NOT a general discussion thread.

I will not shove my head in the sand but yes it will still be none of my business you fool, It is not my snake, my dog, or my responsibility to be the worlds police of reptile husbandry and it is not yours either. Also pleas don't post some story from the onion you just make yourself look idiotic. I can not wait until one of you have an unfortunate accident with one of your reptiles and we hear all the excuses out of your mouth how it was different because you took all the precautions you could. accidents happen no matter what. Just because you put your self on some sort of made up pedestal does not give you the right to judge these people, they out someone in charge of THEIR snake and THEIR dog died because of it. unfortunate, yes worthy of applying some sort of guilt upon someone, no. you should go stick your head in the sand and do the world a favor.

Accidents do NOT happen no matter what. ESPECIALLY with reptile husbandry.

If you keep your large snakes away from smaller animals that they might consider prey, this kind of accident will never happen. A snake can't eat a puppy that is never let into the same room. A snake can't escape from a good quality, species appropriate cage.

It's ridiculous to say that a situation like this wasn't preventable.

Honestly I'm glad this thread has been bumped back up, due to the recent deaths of two boys, supposedly by an african rock python. The irresponsibility of one keeper can have nationwide effects. There is no excuse for this kind of negligence.

It hurts ALL OF US when keepers allow these situations to happen. That is not acceptable.

Apparently YOUR head is stuck so deep...in the sand....that you cannot see that this was NO ACCIDENT....this was caused by stupidity and lack of education...

things like this are NOT accidental...they are consequential

So you are telling me you have the ability to stop accidents from occurring?? wow you must spread that knowledge to me. Accident - An unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury. So if you have the ability to see in the future or if you think these people could please let me know how you do this it could be very useful. Accidents happen no matter what. troops take all sorts pf precautionary measures and die when they are not "supposed" to. People build cages and buy "strong" cages and these snakes have still found ways out.

I smell a troll. ^

Peppery aroma...

An accident happens when precautions are not taken (this case is a GOOD example)...

and NO I cannot stop an ACCIDENT....this was NOT an accident...proper housing will NOT allow an escape...period...NO EXCUSE

if you cannot contain your animal 100% of the time...do not own it...
something tells me that you may have reason to worry...which is why your head is full of sand

Ugh. Personal responsibility is an endangered concept. Parents who cook their kids (and or pets) in a hot car, back over them with their SUV's, have them drown in the pool, etc.

Happens all the time. "Oh, it's so tragic". "They've suffered enough".

Poppycock. Put 'em in jail. This is a case of incredibly poor judgment, and by calling it an 'accident', the onus is taken away from the perpetrators (they are NOT 'victims').

Poppycock, indeed. I totally, completely agree with & respect you, Rob.

That said, Rich Z. (Slave) stated a long time ago:
... the conversation from this point forward MUST be limited to relevant discussions ABOUT the persons identified in the topic line. Generally broad statements and side discussions focusing on general animal cruelty in relation to pets, etc., is not fare for the BOI and needs to be discussed elsewhere.
Harald also reminded us more recently that this is a BOI thread, not general discussion.

Poster Bananna or Benanna, or whoever, is just trolling and obviously in dire need of attention. Let's not feed hungry trolls.

Peace, love, dove and all that crap :)

I'm not trying to troll none of you were there all of you are talking out of your asses, accidents happen no matter what, take all the precautions in the world and they will still occur

You are trolling, look at your responses. Seems to me like you're talking out your :censored:...This could have been avoided and this is an accident that can always be avoided. No one said accidents couldn't be avoided, they stated ones like this could be! These things can be avoided by not letting your small animals roam free and not letting your huge snake roam free.. It's everyone's business to know that people are acting like this, this is very unacceptable behavior. If you actually read the entire thread you would see everyone is on the same page except for you.

You keep talking about accidents happening when all precautions are taken. Do define what you call it when NO or very few precautions were taken, repeatedly, as demonstrated by these owners.

I have retics and burms. They are located upstairs, behind a door in separate cages that stay locked. I also have 4 dogs. I have two dachshunds and two beagles. By most standards, these would be considered "small" dogs. The dogs are NEVER allowed upstairs unattended. In fact, a babygate is put up to ensure that they don't go up there on their own. When they are allowed upstairs (with supervision), they are never allowed in the "snake room" under any circumstances. I'm not sure why this is such a hard concept for some people to grasp. If you love and respect your animals, keep them safe.
