Well, you know, I've always wondered why these so-called professionals have a "practice". Personally, I'd rather they practice on someone else and contact me when they KNOW what they are doing....
Anyway, good to hear that Chuck seems to be on the road to getting better. I'm sure he'll be back to slapping folks around before we know it.
I just came home from the hospital again. He was really wiped out tonight from his dialysis today and really didn't even open his eyes. I just pulled my chair up next to his bed and laid my head on his pillow. I have been worried about something for days now and it was confirmed tonight - he has necrosis of the toes and possibly his feet as well. The feet may get better but the toes are non-reversible. They are trying a different blood thinner to see if they can open the veins in his legs and hopefully break up the blood clots - I don't even remember if I posted this, but due to his allergy to the other blood thinner his body produced "antibodies" which means that he has developed tiny blood clots. They believe that they can break up the blood clots with the blood thinner, but all hope is lost with his toes. If they get worse or become a source of infection, they will have to risk it and amputate them quicker. Right now they are afraid to do it because they would need to put him under and don't know how much that would set him back with coming out of the coma. I have spoken to his vascular doctor many times over the past few days and he said that they may be able to save his foot - they are getting pulses in his left leg and foot but in his right leg they only get a pulse below the knee and can't find anything in his foot. I am trying to be optimistic, but it's just too difficult. Wish I had better news to tell all of you.

Maggie, I can only imagine how this must be for you and your family. I wish nothing but good for you guys. You are being so very strong for the both of you, and I hope things turn out for the best.
With all the ups and downs, I'd probably be an emotional train wreck by now and wouldn't even be able to keep composure to type up everything that is happening.

So sorry to hear of this, but I remain optimistic. Chuck is entirely too feisty not to get better. That man has an iron will. Hugs and Blessings for you, you're a very strong woman.
On a side note, if anyone would like to talk prescriptions, I'm happy to loan out my pharmacist hubby. He caught a potentially serious interaction with a new drug on the scene before it had a chance to kill me, and I'm daily grateful for his smarts and advice when it comes to what to take and when. Doctors don't always pay enough attention sometimes.

Just caught up on this thread and all I can say is, Maggie you're doing great and hang in there. I never post much, but I've always enjoyed what Chuck had to say and I appreciate his humor and honesty. I can't imagine what you and your family is going through. I'm keeping ya'll in my thoughts. He's a fighter and so are you!
