In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy D&M REPTILE RESCUE

today pacc come out , we passed their inspection and got a letter from them saying we passed. anyone who want to come out to see our place , we start at 930am, call to get direction, phone number is 256-7747 thank you david

If that guy is administering his own "Vet care" hes still not freaking qualified cause he dosnt know JACK about what those sulcata need!!! So BS. All of those animals need to be removed. I wish i could live elsewhere RIGHT now, id take all those sullies in and gove them a PROPER home with a REAL diet that they require. Absolutely appalling that this "Rescue" Is nothing at all of the sort and Animal control/local authorities arent coming down on them harder. Please, look up how much room a sully needs, their true diet, that garbage pile of filth and rotting food is inadequate and improper.

Should be a simple matter to either scan the letter or use a digital camera to take a picture of it. Posting the letter in this thread may help alleviate some of the peoples' concerns.

In his defense, which I don't know why I am doing this, it says "veterinary and food expenses." I do much of my own veterinary care at home along with many other breeders and reptile owners. There are many non-licensed vets that I know that know far more about reptiles than the standard dog/cat vets in my area. I am not saying D&M is one of these people, but I wouldn't be so quick to call him a theif because this money didn't go directly to a license vet. By definition, you do not need to be a vet to administer veterinary care. Now if he says he is spending it at a veterinary clinic and isn't, than I understand.

I am not justifying any of these actions or this individual, so please take it as that. Some people do not equate "veterinary care" to a licensed vet.

By law, only a licensed veterinarian can diagnose and prescribe treatment, so technically "veterinary care" should involve an actual, licensed veterinarian.

Well, I guess I'll be breaking the law when I vaccinate my dogs next week. Yes, there are many things that should be left to vets, but there are also many things you can legally do to your own pets at home.

I don't believe animal control checks temps, humidity or proper diet for reptiles. They went to the rescue on weds, found violations that they couldn't disclose and gave 2 more days to fix things. All they have to have by law is food, water and clean enclosures. There is really nothing more that can be done except keep a close watch on conditions there. He obviously needs help running this rescue and has no plans to surrender any of those reptiles to get them help. If there were a kitten missing it's bottom jaw there would have probably been some action taken, but pacc isn't trained on proper reptile care and to most people reptiles are vermen

like JCP dont belong in a sand set up with no branches, so dehydrated and lack of humidity makes them not even look like JCP.

Boas that are skin and bones or are missing part of their face or are completely blind from stuck eyecaps from MANY seasons

The tegu, so many wrongs.

The only reptiles that get uvb light that need it are the torts because they are outside. Nothing else gets it. Not the beardie, not the tegu, not the iggies. And i dont even know where the native tort was kept i only saw it in a plastic rubbermaid file container.

food, water, and shelter doenst apply to reptiles, reptiles need proper food, proper "life support" as in lights and heat, water that is clean and not so cold if they get in they go to sleep, proper environment with the correct husbandry. A rescue should also HAVE to get vet check ups. HAVE TO. Otherwise its cool to go to a rescue because hey, they dont have to get animals vet care, so that dog that has parvo? Its totally cool. You know, cause its a rescue? Yea, this type of thinking needs to stop. A common sense law needs to go up and a herp person in every humane society. If anyone with half a thought about reptiles saw this place and the body condition of all the animals they would raise hell. But its a rescue, so no one cares. Logic, you went right out the window.

again this isnt directed at anyone, but my pain. I called phoenix herp. It's not over, she will get back to me monday after she contacts mike duff(e?)y. He has not replied to my emails so I cant get an answer out of him. Phoenix herp is going to at least make them get the enclosures correct and the animals care hopefully. I can only thank them because PACC is crap all for doing anything. C.Gills is right, if it were a fluffy critter people here would care but its a reptile so "it doesnt matter it cant feel anyway".

:iagree: I vaccinate my cats and dog too. It is perfectly legal and sold at feed stores. The only vaccination we cannot do is Rabies.

What you are describing is administering medication to your own animal, which is legal to do.

It is illegal for an unlicensed person (who claims to have these abilities) to diagnose, prescribe treatment/medications and perform surgery on another person's animal. The owner is allowed to “practice” up to a point, depending on local laws. If D&M took his reptiles to one of these so-called experts, that person could face either misdemeanor or felony charges (also depending on local laws) for practicing veterinary medicine without a license. I hope I cleared that up.

However, whether he treats the reptiles himself at D&M, or brings them to an unlicensed specialist, I personally wouldn't classify that as valid "veterinary care."

That’s a great article. Too often people become passive about this kind of stuff, justifying it by thinking ‘if it were really that bad, this or that would have been done about it already.’ But you know that’s not always how things work; So thank you for continuing to speak up. Even though there was a cost of helping, the reward was greater :)

David keeps posting that we can come out there but won't return phone calls or emails. I am going to try to stop by and talk to him and see this in person. I'll post an update with pictures or video if he lets us in. We are not going there to attack or insult anyone. We are only concerned with the well being of the animals.
