In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

To all those who would like to know
I recently made a purchase from Dale Picolla of a medium sized water monitor ssp for 1500.00 I recieved the animal and on inspection I noticed a bleeding lost nail and a disoriented animal. I decided to put it in the cage and see what happens. I tried to called Dale with no answer so I left a message. I then sent him an email regarding the matter which he did eventually email me back and we have been going back and fourth for 2 weeks almost now with nothing from Dale.Just emty promises. i tried to file a FEDEX claim but he shipped the animal against Fedex regulations, IE no identifying markings and let no one know that there was an animal in the box. The cabashed my claim in 24 hrs. The matter is simple I paid for a healthy animal and did not get one. I am into it for 2000 now because xrays and comprehensive blood and fecal tests. I am not even asking for the vet money just my purchase price back. He is now avoiding me and not taking my calls or emails. I did not want it to come down to this but since he is now avoiding me.

Emails start from bottom and work there way up

Message bodyAnimal was not shipped this way and needs to be xrayed or scan imaging mri... I have not recieved video or pictures...I thought you had vet coming to see the animal.. Your stories are not adding up and here it is days since you recieved the animal and i have not seen this video or picture.. The animal more then likely had internal injury...form thrashing violently... In fact at this point we need to use a non biased vet to examine the animal becuase I am not taking your word for it.. Quit accusing of sending out a sick animal.. NOT THE THE WAY IT WAS SENT... I cant even beleive you own monitors.. Do you you even have a clue at what happens to a monitors motor drive if it has a spinal injury... DO YOU.. And what would you like me to do for you..Open to suggestions..

I am still waiting for a reply on what to do here? Let me know what we are going to do as soon as possible. I need to plan everything out. I am trying to go to daytona and this is starting to hinder my plans. This animal is fucked and it is my belief it was shipped this way. There is no signs of injury that would cause this. Please take care of this. Keep me posted.

My belief now is that th animal has a spine or some other internal skelatel issue from an unsettled trip.. As i stated the animal was not happy in the bag and the probably did irreversable damage to cause a motor drive malfuntion... Seems like part of his body is not working right.. I need pics please and the vet needs to x ray or MRI...

Here is exactly what I purpose.. First off you are right, and wrong. Septic shock doesnt. occur overnight but neither does atrophy.. Takes a long time and dehydration and starvation are associated with it.. Animal has no signs of starvation or dehydration and you think the lizard is in full blown atrophy...UH UH.. Animal had no viral or bacteria overloads when it left my facility. I but I am almost wondering if the animal injured its spine in transit.. Ok. great. Jimmy Gorman is coming to view the animal.I.remember Jimmy when he was knee hight to his brother...FOR REAL. I will be in Daytona.. I am almost reluctant to say it but the people who will be at the show and there is a legion will tell you one thing about me.. ALWAYS... FUCKIN ALWAYS BRING THE BEST VARANIDS TO THE TABLE AND WOULD NOT SCREW ANYONE.. YOU DONT READ WELL DO YOU.. WHAT DID I SAY IN THE LAST EMAIL BEFORE THIS ONE... ILL SYMPATHIZE WITH YOU AND HELP BUT THAT DOES NOT FUCKIN MEAN I HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU SINCE YOU HAVE HAD THE NUCHALIS A VERY SHORT TIME AND I HAVE HAND FED HER FOR MONTHS UP TILL THE DAY SHE LEFT.... LET JIMMY READ THAT......

Hello.....Funny you say septic shock? There is no bacteria(harmful anyway) or viruses present at my facility? I used fresh play sand brand new to that animal. No branches or any dirty material. I built a brand new hide box just for the quarantine process. So it came with whatever infection it may have. Its nail/toe are not swollen or showing any signs of infection. There was not a tremendous amout of blood loss. The water has been crystal clear with no signs of waste lingering. If it is septic shock or sepwe have a real problem because this is not something that occurs overnight. This takes time and is probably from a viral or bacterial overload. The muscle tissue does not soften overnight. It will also most likely be fatal and if not the animal will be worthless afterwords. I have John A and Jimmy Gorman coming to take a look tomorrow but vet comes monday. If my vet determines that this has been ongoing this can be expensive and do not like the circumstances. What do you suppose we do from here? I do not want to let the animal just die? I will send video tomorrow, my batteries were dead.

SEPTIC SHOCK..I DONT NEED TO BE A VET TO CALL THAT.. HOW BAD IS THE NAIL. AND HOW MUCH BLOOD LOSS. AND DONT WORRY RON, DALE PICOLLA ALWAYS MAKES IT RIGHT EVEN THOUGH I HAD NOTHING DO WITH A NAIL TEAR.. GOOGLE MY NAME AND YOU CAN SEE THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE PUT THERE TRUST IN ME.. READ STARS IN HIS EYES.. ANIMAL DEFINITELY HAS SEPTIC SHOCK

bodyThe animal was not put into a box like that.. NOT EVEN CLOSE SO SOMETHING IS DEFINITELY WRONG AND I BELIEVE YOU.. But do not accuse me of something I did that I did not due.. First off, I can see the nail busting off because when i Put the animal in the bag it started twirling violently.. DID NOT WANT TO BE THERE.. The only issue i see is that the animal being aggresive int he bag along with shipping is probably very disorientated and very dizzy. Let me ask you something. DO YOU HONESTLY THINK FOR A MINUTE I WOULD PUT AN ANIMAL IN A BAG LIE THAT AND SEND IT TO YOU... ARE YOU SERIOUS.. I HAVE A GOOD REPUTATION AND I WOULD NEVER DO THAT TO YOU RON.. I DID NOT TELL YOU I LIVED IN FLORIDA. I TOLD YOU THAT I MOVED THERE. AND SO WHAT. OVERNIGHT TO NEW YORK FROM ANYWHERE IS STILL OVERNIGHT...I CANT RECIEVE PHONE CALLS AT THIS MARINA. BAD COVERAGE BUT I WILL ANSWER MAILS.. I AM CONCERNED BECUASE THE ANIMAL WAS NOT SHIPPED THIS WAY AND TWO PEOPLE WHO WORK WITH ME SAW THE ANIMAL THE DAY BEFORE I SHIPPED IT.. I PERSONALLY WOULDNT WASTE MONEY ON A VET... LET IT SETTLE FOR A FEW DAYS... IT WILL COME AROUND. THE ANIMAL IS NOT SICK.. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY RON.. TAKE MY ADVICE.. THE ANIMAL IS SEVERELY RATTLED.. IN FACT NOW I AM ALITLLE PISSED.. DAMMIT LOOK AT THE BODY WEIGHT OF THAT ANIMAL..... REALLY...

Hello As I said I was going to wait until monday anyway for the vet. I have to take it to the vet anyway, I take all new animals or he comes here. I also need bloodwork done and sexing. He comes bi monthly anyway. He brings interns/trainees from the college to my place to work with the reptiles. As far as getting angry Imagine how I feel you got your money. I am mad as hell but this is what we deal with in livestock. The animal has lots of fresh water and has the energy to eat just flops over when it turns its head to eat. You dont need to talk about body weight I can keep a legless blind monitor fat and healthy looking that means nothing to me. The real fact here is there is a muscular problem with this animal because it is soft all over. There is serious signs of muscular deteriation or atrophy. It has no muscle strength or solidness to it. The tail muscle is mushy and weak and its legs dont seem strong either. I will See how everything goes by monday. I dont know where to go from here but I will let you know what happens here with the animal.

Forgive me for my anger Ron but I would never send you a retarded animal.Do not take it to the vet. What you have is a severely stressed animal with enemia from blood loss. It doesnt surprise me on the nail loss.. But you can clearly see the animal has been eating well.. Give it rest and help it eat... It will bounce back in time.. Im 50 and have had hundreds and hudereds of varanids... I know what im talking about.. keep me posted... Dale

Hello, Well I put it in the cage and left it to hide and come out on its own. I left (2mice) food in the cage on a dish and they were just left there. Today it was out so I tried to tong feed it fresh salmon from the fish market. The thing is twirling like a ballarina when you feed it flopping over while trying to eat. Its half retarded or blind and walks around like a stargazing snake looks. I dont think this animal has the ability to catch a live pinky let alone be in good health. This does not look like a shipping issue. It was not hot when I recieved it and was not in the box more then 20 min after arrival. It had lost alot of blood from a ripped off nail but not enough to cause symptoms like this. I am probably going to take it to the vet if nothing gets better by monday as it is I need to have him run all the tests anyway. It has been in a 6x3x3 with sand/coco mix and some mulch and leaf litter on top of sandy substrate. It has a large box and ample basking and proper lighting. Whether its male/female is of no concern for me because it was not guaranteed sex but this thing is fucked up like Ive never seen before. I also tried to call you day of to tell you something wasnt right but I didnt want to leave a message I wanted to talk to you. Also I do not understand why you say you shipped it? I thought you were in FL? It was shipped from California so whats up with that? I am going to take a video of it tomorrow. I will keep you posted.

Hi Ron.. I got the Nuchalis out.. `160.00 fed ex.. fuckin crooks.. I waited for my friend to show and he didnt/ He had car troubel on the way back... The Nuchalis did not like that bag at all... . Will be there by three tomorrow . I will get the tracing to you.. tonight... Thanks Dale

FedEx would have denied your claim no matter how well the box was marked - they don't guarantee the animals...at best, you can (sometimes) get a refund of your shipping costs if the animal if the delivery is delayed.

Staten Island? That brings an entirely different topic to the discussion - legality - but, I'll stick to the health of the animal for now. Do you have any pictures or video that will confirm your description?

I'm interested in how the seller was in florida but Ron says it was shipped form California?? Do you have a picture of the shipping label to prove that?
I mean, I guess it's not really a big deal or important to the situation, unless the animal advertised wasn't the animal sent..

My name is Dale Picolla and I would like to state the facts for the record.. I am not here to bash but only state the facts about the transaction between Mr. Peteroy and I .. I sold Ron Peteroy a Salvator Ssp monitor. Adult.. Gave him a what turned out to be a one month payment plan which was supposed to be one week. The monitor is a Nuchalis. Salvator from the Phillipines.. Dog tame hand raised adult. Witnessed by a number of guys at my house even up to the day I sent the animal.. Healhty robust stong female.. I have pictures of her a week before I sent the animal.. I finally recieved the last payment and sent the animal fed ex. to Ron.. Red flag 1. No contact for 48 hours and then he calls notifys me thet I sent him a bad animal with no specifications on what the problem is.. I contact him and he says the animal has atrophy.. Im obviousluy floored and as him to send the video he claims to have... He says no problem FLAG 2. Still have not gotten video..Here is BIG FLAG 3.. Idicates he just going to keep the animal in his collection for observation but wants full refund.. REALLY.. OK THIS GUY HAS GONE BAC AND FORTH IN HIS STORIES SO MANY TIMES I HAVE HAD ENOUGH.ANYONE WHO HAS GOTTEN MONITORS FROM ME RECENTLY AND MY CLOSE HERPER FRIENDS KNOW I WOULD NOT SEND AN ANIMAL OUT FROM WHICH PETEROY IS DESCRIBING.. Either Ron is short on cash and had a change of heart or something happened in shipping or something happened at his house in thne 48 hour period.. People ask yourself... ok.. one big question. you spend 1500.00 on a lizard and you get it in the shape Mr. Peteroy.. is describing . ARE YOU GOING TO WAIT 48 HRS. TO CONTACT ME.. AND TELL ME YOU WILL KEEP THE LIZARD FOR OBSERVATION BUT WANT 1500.. Here is the moral of the story. Mr Peteroy tried to pilfer off fake flavirufus monitors some months ago. THEE WERE CROSSES AND HE KNOWS IT AND A FEW OF US CALLED HIM ON IT.. I have keeping rare monitors for over 25 yrs and have posted a lot of my collection lately. I see Peteroy, who claims to be this big expert and has this I want to be the monitor guy complex. I started getting numerous phone calls from him over the last months prodding me and trying to gather info and talking about fishb and game. What I

My last post got cut off.. What I believe is that he is either setting me up, He almost got busted by fish and game and the state of new york.. I know these things because I am very in touch with good guys in the monitor world and what I partially believe is the motive for this attac is that I have contact with a Zoo in Calif who I am trying to obtain animals out of Thailand.. I have a close friend who is a Thai national who is big in export to the Thai Gov that is tring to pull strings.. I would have legal papers for rare monitors. I CAN BACK WHAT I AM SAYING. Mr Peteroy does not like this becuase all along he has bragged about how he can get all this illegal stuff and blah blah blah.. I am done posting here.. I have nothing more to say.. I am not fond forums becuase there is to many bias opinions without having the facts.. THERE IS A TRACK RECORD HERE WITH PETERTOY HE DID TRY TO SELL MISREPRESENTED SAND MONITORS RECENTLY AND A GROUP OF US SPOTTED IT.. Enough said.. Sorry for the mispelled words.. If any one has any queations about this you can call me at 619-402-3305 There is more details about this guy.. Do not give him money for monitors coming from Germany. Do not give him money for animals that he claims he gets legally but are legal.. Thanks... D.Picolla

I think there are some e-mails missing, Dale, can YOU post all of them?
seems as if there are holes that should have e-mails in them.

I am not going to jump right on the side of the OP, because, for one, there is no video yet of the animal.
I would like to see more proof before I come to ANY conclusion. I'd like to see a vet report if possible too.

Id like to know how the seller will stand his ground knowingly ship a species that is banned in the 5 borough cities in NY.

Be in your best interest to refund the money to the Buyer and get the monitor back before both parties are in trouble.

wow, their laws suck worse than arizona's (never thought id see that, haha).

i agree, id return money and get the monitor back and move on

well, that does change things. I retract my original statements. :/. Those animals should not be sold if illegal!

I was thinking the same thing. It blows my mind that people are willing to bring their "case" to the BOI when they are knowingly dealing with illegal animals.

The whole thing does not sound right. 48hr's later for a 1500 dollar animal is flagging me down.

I would blame the BUYER for BUYING a illegal animal more than the seller, who lives in California, not NewYork. Shouldn't the BUYER be aware of what he can and cannot keep more than the seller?

I don't feel that a seller should be up to date on the laws and restrictions on every state, city and county in the entire country. I would say that's up to the buyer.

I won't comment on either the OP or seller being in the right, because I feel there's no proof the monitor is healthy or not healthy posted yet. 48 hours to say it's acting as badly as he says is a long time to wait to contact the seller.

But if the seller KNEW that the buyer was near being busted by the authorities(before selling him the monitor), then why would he knowingly sell a illegal animal? If he was unaware of the possible "busting" that was going to happen or might happen until after the shipping, I refer back to my first commentary.

Wouldnt matter if he knew or not, why your to look up laws as a seller before shipping. I do this EVERY shipment. Since the seller and buyer will both be in trouble for this dont matter if both didnt know or not it was illegal.

I know Dale personally and highly doubt he sent a sick animal out. As far as I know he is still waiting for pics and video.

Dale Picolla is NOT a bad guy!

I know Dale and know him to be a stand up guy! He would not send out a sick animal. I ship large iguanas and sometimes they show up with missing toenails due to the stress of shipping but it is not life threatening and usually grow back. I don't aggree with this Bad Guy post.
