    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Selling your site will be mighty difficult as well...not many people are willing to risk facing lawsuits like you and in this hobby, there aren't a lot of people willing to pay big money for something that may never give them a return. I think this may be something that you'll just have to keep until you can no longer run it...and then once the site is shut down, somebody else may try to start their own to replace it, but I really don't see anybody trying to buy it. Nobody wants to pay for anything anymore...

If you want to attack my actions, can we do so via another thread or PM? My site will never come close to Rich's site. My members did ask me to implement something similar to the BOI and they have provided examples of many other sites that have done so. In order to help satisfy them, I have done just that...HOWEVER, there is only ONE BOI and I'm not trying to compete with it. Perhaps if you'd read more into it, you'd see my Transaction Feedback and Product Review forum specifically recommends checking at the BOI and not just trusting the posts in my forum. It also mentions that if anyone ever threatens a lawsuit against me, I will not stand up and fight it like Rich is willing to do.

I respect who Rich is as a person and what he is doing and has done for the entire reptile community over the years. The last thing I'm going to do is try to steal his spotlight or take his place. Herps and my herp website are just a hobby for me, not a business and they never will be a business. I'm about to finish up my schooling for something completely unrelated (HVAC&R) and that will be my "business". That's all I've got to say on the matter in this thread. If you'd like to debate things, feel free to PM me, but unlike a few other side topics I've gotten involved in in this thread, that is one that is purely off-topic for the thread.
 
If it's all the same to everyone here, I would prefer that the off topic posting just cease entirely in this thread. I know it is like trying to make a herd out of cats, but I would appreciate the effort, at least.

John... your out of line here.... I contacted Josh to see about getting FREE advertising for Rich and the BOI over at his site (I am one of the Mods there).... he didnt have to say yes... but he did.... because he supports what Rich is doing.

Maybe I should take out the fact that Im the owner of my business out of my sig. Josh is not trying to steal any members from here... in fact he is point his members to THIS site.

I did see some of the flyers at the Hamburg show yesterday. PMHerps had a stack of them...I didn't really notice them on anybody else's table, but that doesn't mean they weren't there.
 
I didn't see them on any other tables either..and I was looking. Perhaps some had them in an abscure place or forgot to put them out?

Either way..having them on the table alone doesn't do much good...when people are in "buy" mode..they need time to refocus. I hope the seller(s) were placing flyers in the bags of purchasers.

After the "high" wore off, they would have been more likely to focus on the new information.
 
Monday I will be going to the printers to proof the sample of the color flier. If it looks OK, I will be having 10,000 of them printed up, and be picking up some shipping boxes to mail out fliers to whoever wants them. Whoever is interested can send me their mailing address via PM or email to [email protected].

Well, I've been thinking about this quite a bit. I will be 59.5 years old late in January of 2010. At that time, I believe I can start collecting my pittance of a retirement from my state employment. It will be another few years before I could start collecting social security (62 years old) if I want to get the bare minimum the feds offer. I would have to wait till I'm 66 years old to get the FULL benefit, such that it is. Heck, by then, the entire government could be bankrupt anyway, and this all won't matter at all.

So I'm thinking that February, 2010 is going to be the drop dead date on this, at the very latest. Someone brought up the idea of my selling my SerpenCo busines, and I've actually been approached by someone who may be interested in buying it. At this point it is just talk and I have no idea how serious the potential buyer is, but this could change that timeline somewhat if that were to take place. But heck, I'm not even really sure I'm ready to give up that business right now anyway, while I can still physically do it. Hatching out baby corn snakes that the world has never seen before has given me a lot of enjoyment over the years. Something tells me I will miss that quite a bit when it is gone.

As for paid memberships here, that has been steadily declining. So I think pretty much that the writing is on the wall concerning the survival of the BOI. That's the breaks I guess. I think it was a good run while it lasted, but the situation is what it is.

So yeah, a lot of things going through my mind about all this.....

Anyway, it is encouraging to see that traffic has increased to the classifieds sections and exceeding that on the BOI by a wide margin now. So perhaps in another year or so, the BOI won't be the main attraction and only anchor here any longer, and it's being put to rest will not kill FaunaClassifieds completely. It appears we are going to find out sooner or later.

Anyway, just a fyi.....
