I just got off the phone with Dan and have come to the following conclusion....
He has represented himself very, very poorly on this forum, BUT....
I do believe he feels he has taken enough precautions to protect the rest of his animals, and therefore animals he has sent out to people. The shoebox tubs the snakes were in were not re-used thus far, and the snakes in question were not in contact with the rest of his collection.
He also stated that the Boas went through the hands of the exporter, importer, broker, and finally him before being shipped, so if IBD was present, it could have come from anywhere. This is based on what Dan told me, and it is the reason he is not concerned with IBD being in his collection.
While I can see where he's coming from, and he does seem sincere, it would be nice to see him take a more pro-active approach, which I said to him personally. It seems he feels there are some who have something against him unrelated to this topic, and for that reason, he's kind of dug his heels in here. At this point, I think only time will tell, but I don't envy him (nor those who have bought boids from him recently) right now. While I love debate, I think he could have handled things differently and saved alot of headache. Again, he has been way too nonchalant in the handling of this, and as I told him, he should really lay out all precautions he took.
On a side note, we also discussed John's handling of this whole thing and the shady way things were done. Dan feels (and I agree) that he should be just as concerned (or more) about his collection because he is a Boa breeder. John, it was also mentioned that this is not your first encounter with IBD. Can you please confirm or deny this, as I don't want to state this as fact if it is not the case.
