In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Dan White - Bad service and sort of a thief

I know I already have made one decision, you are on my "Do Not Sell to" list.
Randal Berry

Ok Randal. But seeing as how you don't sell anything I want to buy, shouldn't I be getting a package from you any day now?

Again Randal. I see your point that I haven't proven in a court of law that Dan White has stolen from me. And you feel that I shouldn't call him "sort of a thief" unless I have some kind of smoking gun. And I agree with you that if he shows up on the forum, it will turn into a case of my word vs. his. But is this kind of situation really that uncommon on BOI? Why does this seem to offend you so much.
Also, I don't appreciate you calling my phone call imaginary. It's pretty much like calling me a liar. We've never met, and you have no first hand experience to draw from. You are just calling me a liar because you don't like me. I said Dan White was sort of a thief because I feel that he stole from me. What would you call someone who took money from you, promised to deliver a good or service, and delivered something else?

It offends me because you as much labled him a "thief".

No sir, not calling you a liar, never even implied it. I said "imaginary" phone conversation because we didn't actually hear the conversation, so it's 100% conjecture on your part, as you still haven't offered any proof.
I can post on here I talked to so-and-so and he said, "yada, yada, etc." And that still isn't proof what was said. You are assuming people will believe you.

I don't understand the whole "I feel that he stole from me" scenario, as you paid him, you received goods from him, albeit, in your opinion NOT the good's you have claimed to order, so how is that stealing from you?:shrug01:

"What would you call someone who took money from you, promised to deliver a good or service, and delivered something else?".
I would call it a miss-communication, NOT brand him as a theif.

How about "I am a dissatisfied customer?" No need to get personal and start tossing negative names around. You got something for your money..so he's NOT a thief, not even sort of (imo).

However, whether or not you actually got what you ordered seems to be the issue. THIS is your word against his. Do you have the order form? I know they usually send out the confirmation of the order.:shrug01:

Depends. If I ordered shoes and they sent me a tarantula (depending on what kind and whether the shoes were on sale), I might call them a mite touched but it actually might be OK. If they sent me nothing, and I sent them money, maybe then I would be considering some harsh words.

But here, the 'something else' is very close to what you say you ordered (I am not writing it as a fact since there is no proof, and in fact you forgot the date of the transaction on your original post, so maybe you forgot to order mediums), and I certainly would not call that thievery.

A little while back in this thread you garnered some sympathy when I brought a quote from the seller's website with the 'satisfaction guaranteed' statement.

But (and this is only my own personal feeling, I do not at all require anyone else to share) you have spent that sympathy with your repeated insistence that seller is a 'sort of' a thief.

I (and many of us) try to suggest and facilitate solutions sometimes that will make both parties happy. Here, you yourself are closing the door to any efforts while there still may be hope. The seller's site says he takes orders Monday through Friday so perhaps he will not see and respond to your message until tomorrow. I am interested in hearing his account of this transaction.

I suggest you hold off and see what he says. Perhaps a satisfactory solution can be found. But no man is going to offer up a compromise while you are calling him names (did you do that on the phone?) so perhaps toning it down a bit might be a wise choice.

Hey..... Call Edward Scissors Hand.......??

My Plan will not only get you 1/2 the size, but will also double your worms......All this without a word....This was a very easy problem to solve......Every time you need a worm "snip snip"

cricket factory

I am a regular customer of the cricket factory. I've never had any trouble ordering from them. I get crickets and supers. Dan has rushed an order out the same day for me before. He has also replaced DOAs in the dead of winter. I get the impression they handle and ship large volumes daily, and I'm sure that means they make mistakes. I'm also sure they get lots of calls about problems. If you had order large and gotten small, or they'd been dead, he would have (IMO) replaced your order.
They occasionally post on ebay, and have tons of positive reviews.

If you cut them in half, both halves wiggle around enough to gain the dragons attention long enough to be eaten. I had one dragon that loved supers but couldn't eat them due to the size I got from the pet stores so that's what I did. One quick snip does the job. It does sound like a very good solution to his problem. :)

Haven't been on in a while so there are a few things to answer in this post.

Randal: Then you meant to say, "alleged," or "unsubstantiated," or "unverified." All of those words mean something hasn't been proven without casting doubt on the integrity of the person saying it.

Lucille: I didn't forget the date. It's called a typo. I did not confuse January for July. But you are correct, I did have that incorrect in my original post and it is something you can take into account when considering my story. Your point about being antagonistic to the seller is a good one. I was very polite over the phone. I know there is only my word on that. But my account of the alleged telephone conversation is accurate. There was no swearing or name calling.

Kenny: I agree that they appear to be a large supplier. Which is why I was not terribly surprised that he got my order wrong. He probably gets lots of orders for supers and very few for medium supers. What surprised me was his insistence that he couldn't possibly have made a mistake and his refusal, before I had even asked him, to fix the problem.

I kind of assume that it is because I was a very small customer and he couldn't be bothered to accommodate me, but that is just a guess on my part.

I sent an email to Cricket Factory's listed address and the email address attached to his Ebay account, so hopefully he will be aware of this thread soon.

Update.

Getting contacted by Jessica seems to have roused him. He says he will be sending the correct order. This time all our contact was by email, and I will be posting them after the worms get here. Just so it's all out in the open.

So. .... Probably not a thief.

IMO the whole "sorta a thief" comment was a matter of HIS opinion. One in which he is entitled to. Based on his account of that phone call and no doubt frustration at the guy for being unwilling to resolve the problem despite his guarantee I can see why he would be angry enough to call him sorta a thief. Add to the fact that the seller is sending the correct order now and hasn't come here to dispute anything said I'm guessing his account of that phone call is accurate. Just my opinion though and I recognize that others are entitled to their own opinion on what he said and to make it known.

I also received an email answer from the company:

i checked my notes and didn't see any mention of mediums - however am replacing them sorry for the confusion dan

I have to say that based on the language and behavior of the OP, calling his vendor 'sort of a thief' when it was merely a matter of a bug size dispute, that I would never do any business with him whatsoever. In my opinion he is a bad customer.

Its too bad that the seller didn't just offer to replace the order during that first phone call. He knew he had a satisfaction guarantee and that the customer wasn't satisfied with his order. It was only $11.. even if the guy was rude just send him a new order and put him on your do not sell to list if thats how you feel and be done with him. All of this would have been avoided.

I'm interested to see what the emails say..

One lesson people can take from this: Watch your wording on the BOI, it can come back to bite you. If it had said "Dan White - bad customer service" it would have gone much smoother for him.:yesnod:
