I have been an admirer of Ken's snakes for a long long time now. From what I have seen he is a very good guy, with a great reputation that is well earned.
I see folks here praising him, and his animals, and that is deserved.
The only thing I see wrong with that however is that the snake in question wasn't "his". It was in his posession, and he paid for it. However , from the other thread I gather that it was more of a brokering type of deal. He says the snakes were not quarantined, and he even had to call Phong after the buyer received the snake to make sure they were eating. Now, this happenes every day. I have no problem with brokering, or retail as long as the seller stands behind what he is selling.
Ken has done that, and offered a guarantee beyond anything offered before shipment, after the buyer complained.
If the buyer had demanded a refund when he first got the snake rather than agreeing to keep it for 30 days to see how it went, I think Ken would have to accept that. I honestly think he would have. However, the buyer chose to keep the snake for the 30 day trial....and another 30 days...and another 30 days...and another.
There very well could have been something wrong with that snake when it was sent, and Ken didn't notice it.He didn't have them long (not even long enough to feed them). The snakes were awesome and sold quickly.
When it died 4 months later though, I can't imagine Ken having to absorb any of the blame for that. If the buyer took it to the vet when he got it, there should be a paper trail. If tests were done, and something found, Ken should have been notified about exactly what it was. If he didn't take it to the vet, and he thought for 4 months that it was sick, then he needs to be on everybody's "do not sell to" list.
