In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Derek Beando Dbeando scams

So, you're thinking about distributing geckos by selector's choice, in an order assigned by luck of the draw...without regard for who may have purchased what? And that makes sense to you? Even if that is after the purchased geckos are sent out, I see a lot of problems. For starters, do you have any idea how many geckos are going to be turned over to Cpl Ury? Since there are multiple purchasers of expensive geckos, what are the odds that those people will be satisfied? What of the people that that have filed claims with PayPal or credit cards? (before you reference your experience with PayPal, not everybody gets the same response) How will you eliminate them? What happens with the extra geckos, if there are any? Since people are going to have to pay for shipping again, will receiving extra geckos be an option to compensate?
Sorry, but this isn't being handled well...there are just too many assumptions, and not enough information. Have you even received confirmation from people that this is acceptable to them? Or is it just you taking your best shot at not losing your money? I understand that there is a time factor, and that the Cpl's goal is to do the best for the victims; but this just seems to be turning into a bigger mess every time I look at this thread.

Is there some reason those of you with questions aren't contacting Cpl Ury directly?
For my part, it's because relatively few of my questions are for the Cpl....they're about the potential mess that starts after he hands over the geckos.

Oh, no. I didn't mean you personally. I more meant like, Lucille and some of the others with legal questions.

I do kind of wonder if the CPL would feel better if Nathan helped him ship rather than had to transport them back then ship? I don't know if that's an option for you or not, Nathan.

And i think it is extremely poor judgement to potentially mess up what the officer has worked out, just because people want to talk about it and just can't wait until tomorrow, not knowing the details themselves.

And I think it's in extremely poor judgment if Derek is being mislead. Two wrongs do not make a right. And no, I don't know all the details, but I can still give my advice and ask questions on different scenarios that could or could not be taking place. Derek needs to be held accountable for his actions however I feel it would be in his best interest to speak with a lawyer before handing any geckos over. The way this whole deal is being handled is very unprofessional IMO.

He doesn't have to be mislead to get spooked into not cooperating. Its all conjecture right now.

What if Beando told as of now unaccounted for victims, "Hey, it's too cold to ship in MA, send a deposit for VC now and we'll talk again mid-April!" He could be stringing them along with "updates" on her as we speak. How would you distribute these animals? I can see this getting worse and worse. :shrug01:

I forget the number of geckos claimed, but I think it was around 12, so those 12 would go to the owners, i think he said there was around 30 geckos at his house, so I was just saying after those 12 are taken out then everyone else who didn't get the one they paid for can divide them up, if you got your money back from PayPal that's great, you no longer get a say on who gets what, like everyone who paid, including me, I'm not trying to walk away from this empty handed, so yes im trying to make sure my money and everyone elses money didnt go to waste. but like I said, that is just my idea, it you don't like it then what idea do you have for us? let us know so we can atleast have another thought on the table.

inret- that is a good idea, thank you for it, if we do that then first i have to wait for the boxes and heat packs to come in, hopefully they will be in today, but we would also all need to be online at the same time to look at the geckos and split them up, this will probably be a two day job, so i guess i would have to go down sunday, take care of who gets what and then ship them on Monday

I completely see what you are saying Kevin, my guess would be that is why a few of the people who have actually been scammed have not chimed back in since the beginning.

Talking about certain things is not only needed but smart, completely showing your hand seems foolish though.

IMO, i think that if any body hasn't showed up yet then they probably won't, make stickies on the forums about this thread to see if anyone else pops up if you are wondering if there is others

I doubt it too but you never know, I'm not a gecko person but hope the community has been well informed, good job to everybody working on this by the way

UPDATE: I have pm'd the access information for the new message board to everyone who was listed on Jaybee's spreadsheet. If you are on that list and did not receive my pm, please pm me or email me at [email protected].

Thanks!
Angie

One thought too, what if an animal is sent to the person who paid for it, then their credit card company or Paypal decides in that persons favor, allowing that person to get not only the animal but their money back?
Just another part of the messiness :(

My last post was meaning certain people that already came forward and said they have been scammed, haven't came back in a while. I would guess they are not wanting to show their hand. I assume they are still trying to get compensated for...I can't imagine they just let it go.

Anyway, good luck on all this to everyone. Derek needs to pay for what he has done.
For whoever paid for VC and does NOT end up with her, I can't see how those people will be compensated. Vegan Cupcake>numerous juvies. Anything other than money back seems like they still got scammed, even if they end up with geckos.

Somebody will definitely not be satisfied if and when the geckos are collected. Obviously, several different members cannot all get VC, but something is better than nothing and somebody getting her is better than nobody. As the officer has already shown in talking about MA's judicial system- it sure isn't a perfect world and sometimes it doesn't work like we want it to.

Hopefully though, the animals will make it out of Beando's hands and into someone who paid for them. I think it looks like a mess too, but at least we can assume everyone has honest intentions. That's not something we can say for Beando.

To say that this is a mess is an understatement. First and foremost, I will repeat that NO agreement has been made on my part with any of the people involved in this matter. I entered into this issue knowing and stating that it would be messy and difficult, at best. Beando has not been told that, should he make good on his agreements with the victims, that no action would be taken against him. Again, I represent the victims in any issue, not the offender. I can not, and would not give full details of the dealings in a public forum. The attempt, thus far, has been to assist the victims in any way that I can, hence several proposals. Doubt as to my employment is easily answered by contacting my department directly. Regardless of my job description, my goal is, and will continue to be to help others, which sometimes means that I try to find creative solutions. I truly believe that many agencies would have told those involved that there is nothing that they can do and simply leave everyone to fend for themselves. It may be my eventual downfall, but I simply can't do that as I believe my job extends far past writing tickets and locking people up. I don't see the input of others as hostile or counterproductive, quite the opposite. I think that this thread has illustrated the dangers of doing business online and the measures one should take to ensure that their interests are protected before it gets ugly.

I represent the victims

Are you saying you are representing the victims absent their agreement, in matters that have to do with their property? Are you going to go forward with the plan as it is?

Oh come on, leave this poor guy alone. What do you want him to do, not try to facilitate getting the geckos out of Beando's hands? Stop reading into each little thing, just like you did with what I said earlier. He said he hasn't made any agreements with regards to who gets what, but is trying to help get the geckos out of Beando's hands where certainly no resolution will ever come. He just meant he is on the side of the victims. Maybe he should just leave the whole thing alone, and then nobody will get any animals they paid for, nor will they get their money back? Apparently, you live in a perfect world and expect others to do the same. Cut the guy some slack.

Plan? There was a proposal made by one of the members to other members, who have stated that they do not agree with that proposal. So, the answer is obviously no. My goal is to get the property or the money back to those involved and to prosecute in any manner that I can. The property, however, is LIVE property, hence my desire to entertain ALL ideas as prosecution takes months. Please try to view this from a different perspective. My legal requirement in this matter is to determine if: transactions had occurred, did the suspect defraud others, did the crime occur within my jurisdiction, and to gather evidence of the transactions. Then, if it is successfully prosecuted (again, the victim would have to appear at each and every hearing) the court would determine whom would receive any animals, if any still remain after this protracted period.
