I will try to make this as concise and to the point as possible as to prevent any rambling. I responded to this ad, on January 17th in regards to the male that I wanted for my very small, yet specific breeding colony.

Corky makes mention in ALL of his ads "To get ahold of us quickly please call or text us at 1-734-686-0803", so I text him that following afternoon (01/18). Within a half hour, we make a deal on this male for $260. He advised me that he had had a previous offer, however mine was for more so he went with me.

He was PayPal'd the $260 shortly after we agreed on the price (same day).

Due to inclimate weather conditions, Corky advised that we would need to wait until Tuesday, January 25th to ship for a delivery the following morning of the 26th. This was when temps were suppose to be optimal for both locations. I was a little concerned as temps were suppose to be in the 20's at my location, however Corky assured that he had shipped numerous packages this winter without any incident.

Let's move forward. Wednesday morning. Excuse the break in the clips. This was done on my phone and could only be emailed in sections. You can see by the splicing though that no parts are missing.

So immediately upon receiving the DOA, I text Corky as according to him, "To get ahold of us quickly please call or text us at 1-734-686-0803". No response. I then email him in the event that his phone is dead or what not. No response. I then begin sending him still shots of the deceased animal, via text pic. No response. It isn't until I email him the series of the above listed videos that I receive a phone call from him. Initially, Corky was very much on the ball and ready to handle the problem. He advised me of a couple of options.

Option 1: I could receive a cash refund, minus the shipping costs. I can't really understand why I would have to eat $45-$60 in shipping charges when I had done nothing wrong but this never had the chance to be an issue, as I wanted that particular dragon, not my cash.

Option 2: Corky offered that he would replace the animal with another, providing me with my $260 back in credit, as well as an additional $100 for my troubles. This sounded very reasonable and I appreciated the offer in light of my tragedy. I advised him that I was interested in adult males that would like as close to the one I purchased as possible or adult females. Corky advised me to give him a couple of hours and he would get back to me with what he had available in comparison.

A couple of hours later I receive an email with pics of (4) dragons. Two of them look to be adults, the other (2) sub-adults. He gives me the option of (1) of the adults or both sub-adults. From my assessment, both sub-adults weren't worthy of what I lost with the original purchase and I only one of them and one of the adults fit into my breeding project. I sent a reply back, with pics of the two that I was interested in and inquired whether or not he would entertain both of them as a replacement for the doa. I received a response back from him stating that he would send both as a replacement. I was advised that he would keep up with temps in both areas and contact me when it was the right time to ship.

Over the next couple of weeks, I bugged Corky, very little. He might have heard from me every 3-4 days at the tops. In the beginning, it was inquiring about genetic info on the two dragons I was due to receive and aside from that, I would send him an email saying, "hey, it looks like it is only going to get down to 36 degrees Thursday night so we should be good to ship on my end." This was always met with, either it was too cold where he was or it was snowing, etc. I never had any reason to doubt him and still up to this point, I trusted that he was going to do the right thing. Hell, I never even pulled up his weather on The Weather Channel online to see if he was being honest. I HAD NO REASON TO NOT TRUST HIM!!!

Enter, late last week. The entire nation seemed to be breaking out of the ice and snow or at least the weathermen were predicting and I emailed Corky about shipping the following week. He agreed that Tuesday shipping for a Wednesday morning delivery would be best for him.

Today, February 16th (almost a month after receiving my doa)

I received my package from Corky this morning at 9:43 am. I received another shipment from another seller as well but I opened Corky's first as I was most excited about what was in it. I open it up and the first dragon that I remove is the adult dragon that I was suppose to receive. Upon opening the second bag, I pulled this out...

Since I was most excited about this one, I think that you can see where I would be let down with the other. The other appeared healthy, it just wasn't the one that I picked out and desired. I housed both dragons and moved on to my second package of dragons from another seller.

After unpacking the other order and housing them, I texted Corky as per his ad instructions, "To get ahold of us quickly please call or text us at 1-734-686-0803". I wanted him to first know that they both made it ok and in good health, however point out to him that one of them doesn't appear to be the one that I was wanting and was suppose to receive. So, at that point, I send the following text...

Me: Feb 16, 2011 9:57 AM

"Just received the package. They both made the journey. I think that u might have packed the wrong dragon tho. the smaller dragon was suppose 2 b a red tiger. This guy is orange and brown. He looks nothing like the pic u sent me."

No response. At this point, I am not concerned. I honestly thought that he was busy packing up a ton of dragons for shipment yesterday as he wasn't able to ship for so many weeks and that it was just an honest mistake. A couple hours later, I sent an email in the event that his phone was dead, basically alerting him to the same thing. Still not so much concerned. At the same time I also sent him (2) pic's text's, of the dragon that I was suppose to receive and a cell phone pic of the one that I did receive. At the same time I also started communicating with some of my good friends that are breeders and exchanged the pics with them to see what they thought. I knew that obviously they weren't the same dragon but I am not too proud to say that I could be wrong from time to time. In this instance I was not. They all pretty much laughed at me. It was apparent. I didn't divulge much of the details to either breeder at the time because there is no need to sully someones name when they haven't even had a chance to right the wrong yet.

At 1:03 PM, no response yet to email or texts so I send another text message.

Me: "I've emailed as well. I would appreciate a response in some form. Thanks"

Still nothing.

At 3:08 PM I text again

Me: "Please contact me."

This finally garners the response, "Sorry i just woke up im going to message u shortly k"

Great right? Finally a response and he is on it. Wrong. An hour goes by and nothing, no email, no text. So, I send another text at 4:10 PM...

Me: "Any thoughts??"

This apparently struck a nerve with him as at 5:34 PM, I receive the following email from Corky.

WOW!!! Really?? Did that just happen? By that point, I was out to dinner with my fiance', happened to pull up my email on my phone while awaiting our dinner and see this utterly disgraceful response. Let's break this email down for a second.

In the first section, Corky want's to accost me for texting him when, per his own request, "To get ahold of us quickly please call or text us at 1-734-686-0803". Is it my fault that his son is sick and was up all night?? Join the club!! My son is sick as well as my fiance' at the moment but I still go to work and run my reptile business on the side very efficiently. This is what you chose to do!!! Don't gripe at your customer for trying to make contact with you to alert you to a potential problem!! What do you want to bet that if I was texting him, wanting to buy his $1,100 Silkback that he keeps posting all over the B/S/T every couple of days, that I would have garnered a much different response?? That in itself is unbelievable, but let's move on to the second part.

In this section, he knowingly admits to sending me a different dragon without my consent or approval. Now he try's to take the high road here and say how the dragon I wanted, quit eating and he didn't feel safe shipping it. I say BS to this!! More then likely, he moved it to someone else for more cash or it shed in that month and came out even more brilliant, color-wise and he wanted to hang on to it. If what you say is true Corky, let's see some pictures of this skinny, sick lizard!! The worst part is, had he contacted me and said, "Hey, I don't feel right shipping this guy because he hasn't been eating," I would have obliged and we could have gotten together on another dragon that fit into my breeding project. I asked Corky some questions during the ordering process as I like to pick different peoples brains to get their ideas. I am putting my money on, he thought that I was an idiot when it comes to dragons and that I wouldn't notice the difference in the two. Let's move on to the last part.

In this part, he mentions the obvious, how originally he offered either one adult or both sub-adults in lieu of my doa, not one adult and one sub-adult. Why are you bringing this up now?!?!? You agreed to send what you agreed to send!! How is it an issue now?!?!?!?!?

So, at this point I was shocked and appalled. I sent him an email immediately telling him that he was way out of line with that email and that I was too hot to even comment at the moment. He sent an email back basically admitting to no wrong doing and still harping on the fact that I texted him. What a joke!! At this point, it was apparent that he had washed his hands of the ordeal, so I consulted my buddies in the hobby and ran it all past them. It was unanimous that 1), they were absolutely baffled by it and 2), since Corky had obviously washed his hands of it and didn't even have the decency to contact me, then it was time to take it to the BOI so that everyone else can learn of my unfortunate experience with Diamond Den.

Corky has some really nice stuff for sale at all times but with customer service like this, is it really worth that chance??? Save your hard earned money for the folks out there that take you, the customer serious and want you to be happy with your purchase. They are out there. Corky just isn't one of them.

The non refunding of shipping cost is normal in shipping perishables. You bought an animal that was going to cost to receive it next day air. Once that label is bought money is gone there for is non refundable. Of course some will refund it but most will not.

Just need to let you know thats how most breeders operate.
 
Not tossing rocks, but as a parent myself, if someone was "blowing up my phone" while my child was ill and it was waking them up...I'd put the phone on vibrate, shut it off, or completely remove it from earshot of my child. You can't blame him for waking your child, sorry, but you can't. You have NO reason to be angry at him for that. If he was "blowing up your phone" there were many options to keep the phone from disturbing your child. Its just common sense to me, as a parent myself. I've been in similar situations. My mother, love her to death, but if I don't answer the phone, she instantly thinks something is wrong and blows up my phone. When I'm at work and she does that, I switch it to vibrate and toss it in my purse. If my phone was ringing at work, could I blame my mom when my boss yells at me? I'm thinking a lot of the problem here is stemming from the stress of having a sick child. I can understand that, but you can't yell at the guy for texting you repeatably when you state to text you as a means to communicate and when you don't answer, can't blame them for texting you again and again. Again, not throwing rocks, more being devil's advocate here on the texting/sick child thing. Don't blame the guy for you not shutting off the ringer.
 
Ok i dont know where to start, you paid $260.00 for an adult dragon i shipped him in clearable weather i shipped other packages that day, you siad yourself the heat packs where not working so i would assume that the package had been left out side for far to long at some point on its way, and as i was more then willing to work with you with either a refund or a replacement, you opted for a replacment so i sent you pics one being of this guy, the adult male that is the replacment for the DOA, past that i was being nice and giveing you the other male as a freebie, so when he is not eating good and doing poorly i replaced him with his bigger healthy red tiger italian leather het trans brother thinking that sense you are getting your replacment adult and a freebie that you would not have an issue, you want to believe i sold or am trying to keep that male look at the 4th picture that is him this minute, would you have liked me to send you him the 3rd picture is the male i sent when he isnt stressed out in the picture so you can see his real color.


and on side lines you had not responded back to your own eamil saying you would get back to me later so how was it clear i had washed my hands of you.

I have been more then understanding about all of this and you want to point blame at me because I texted you 5 times from 9:30 am to 3 pm?? You knowingly sent the wrong dragon and know you want to put blane on me and try to switch this up like I've handled this wrong. I will address your email and where we go from here shortly. I am too hot right now to comment any further.

this is your way of addressing it not talking to me not aksing me for proof that the other dragon was unhealthy to ship.

and if you wish to believe we didnt ship to you when we could you can, but we put off ALL of our shippings for a good 2 weeks until this week because the weather was that bad and unpredictable here it was either snow storms or 10 degrees and under here, or cleaning up after the snow.


And i was never angry about him texting or calling and i even told you that i seen your messages and i was trying to get back to you as soon as i could, I had shipment that i had to get out today so i had to get them done before it was to late.

Here is the screen shot showing his last email and my email to him, i have not heared back from him even though he said he would call me via a text and said he would get back to me via the email, i really dont understand what is wrong with sending a healthy dragon as a freebie in replace of the freebie he was expecting, he recieved the adult male to replace the DOA, and recieved the subadult as extra, and i paid the shipping to him in addition.

ok yeah the phone thing could have been handled in some other way. that goes without saying. i had just recieved my order from corky and both girls are much better looking than they were in the pics. he has replied to my questions and has worked me me throughout everything. i initally contacted him about a higher end dragon and told him i want to buy but it would have to wait and he didn't have to hold it for me since i had to talk to my hubby because of the price. when it came down to payday i saw he had 2 double het girls that were closer to the price i could afford. he let me put down a deposit and i paid with the next few days. here in ga, i might as well say fl since i live 30 an hour from jacksonville, it is much wamer than it is out there so for me shipping wasn't a prob unless it is really cold on his end. because of this he put my shipment on hold which works fine for me. I made 2 shipments the same day he shipped me my dragons. in one area the night time lows were low 30s. they arrived fine seeing as my customer wrote me as soon as she got them. in al where the last batch went the night temps were mid 30s again fine. when i got corky's the heat pad was still one. i have recieved shipments with heat pads where they were no longer warm at all so i was happy that these were.

about doing the replacement, yeah if i was not told i would be upset but he didn't exchnge it for an equal valued dragon but a higher valued dragon. i had to do this myself when shipping to al. i told him that all the hypos looked female. a few days later, i had to put off shipping because it was too cold and my heat packs didn't come in, i found that one of the hypos he ordered was in male. i checked everyone else and it was split 2 males 2 females. i told the guy the predicament and said if he liked the leather female, i sent a pic, i would send it in place of the hypo i thought was female at a glance. they excepted.

These things happen, things could have been handled differently yes, but after purchasing from corky i wouldn't hesitate to do so again. hell, he could have marked me off his list of who to sell to when i couldn't purchase from him a few times before but he didn't. something like that, after being explained could be understanding depending on who the customer is of course. if i asked for something but got a leather instead i would be miffed until i thought about it. right now counting the 2 i bought from corky i now have 3 leathers, 2 unrelated males and 2 females. i sent my leather female i hatched hoping it would make up for not having enough hypo females to my customer and they seem very happy in the end.

i would never take a chance with the weather and it seemed like corky didn't want to either. both my customers were also very excited about gettin their bearded dragons, one was disappointed i didn't ship out on mon because my heat packs arrived later in the day the other was trying to tell me i could buy heat packs at the pet stores in my area. i live in a small town, they don't even carry ceramic heat blubs.

i rambled, sorry. all in all i think it is just the out look on the whole thing. yeah it sucks you didn't get the male you first wanted but he did try to work with you. excuses are like assholes, everyone has them and they all stink. if you really don't want the leather and would prefer the other dragon you ordered i am more than certain corky will work with you on it to make sure you are happy.

You should go back and re-read everything that I posted. You are trying to deflect things. You are mentioning that I bought an adult and you offered an adult in exchange. Is it really that easy?? Are they all valued the same? No, they are not. I bought from you the adult that I wanted. He showed up dead. You offered me a choice of (4) dragons that you were willing to replace mine with. Not alot of options there but I try to be easy and settle on something. I am pretty damn easy to get along with until you try to throw me from the boat. So, of the two adults that you offered me, neither one really sang out to me. I liked the one that I picked but had you posted him in an ad for sale for $260, I would have never replied to you. He wasn't what I was going for but given the option of him and another adult, I picked him. That said, I didn't feel like he was of the same caliber as the original dragon that I purchased so I inquired about the juvenile as well. You obliged. There was no "freebie" here. They both equalled my initial loss in my mind as I didn't value one adult for one adult. If that is the case, just go on and sell me your silkback adult for $260. I mean, he IS an adult, right?

As far as the one you sent coloring up? Maybe that will happen, maybe it won't. The bottom line is that I didn't want him. He didn't fit into what I was wanting at the moment. I think that if you were to order a dragon from another breeder and they send you a different color, then you too would have an issue. Who wouldn't?? We are all color freaks and we have plans in our heads of what we want. It's not your right to decide what works for me. I can't understand why you would not have consulted me about this instead of just throwing the ole switcharoo in there. There is absolutely nothing that you can say about that. You failed that big time.

As far as me sending an email saying that I would get back with you, I had planned on it and then you followed that up by once again, re-iterating about me blowing your phone up and still not taking any blame. Why didn't you call me during any of this?? Seems a little sheepish to me.

As far as the pic, obviously I don't see much of a resemblance in the two. Maybe it is the one I was suppose to receive, maybe it isn't. I have no way of knowing that so it has little effect on my feelings about it.

And about the weather, I never doubted that you was choosing to not ship to me. Go back and read my post again. I think I covered it several times that I never had ANY reason not to trust you. Now as a result of this not only do I have a reason but anyone reading this should have good enough reason as well. You dropped the ball big time here. No other way that you can cut it, yet still you can't admit wrongdoing and apologize. Lesson learned for everyone I guess.

just to touch on sagespyder's post, I never faulted Corky for the doa. I am in the business too. I know that sometimes, the carriers are idiots and the animals and us pay for it. This was never the issue, the long wait was never the issue. I wanted what was best for my animals and I trusted that Corky would ship when the time was right. I brought up those times that I inquired about shipping as the only time that I would even contact Corky over the course of a month. Every so often if my temps were up, I would let him know to see where his were at to see if we could ship. I brought all of that up because all of a sudden today, Corky has this approach like I am some teenage girl crushing on him and bugging the piss out of him for an entire month. That hasn't been the case.

his terminology "blowing my phone up"!!! Isn't that great?? Now, typically, that is what you want out of your business. For your phone to blow up. Now I am sure that had it been "blowing up" today with orders, he would have been all about that, but since instead it was "blowing up" over a screwup on his end, then it is unsavory and unwelcomed. That's good stuff right there. "Order from me!!! I'm happy to take your money but then if there's a problem, you are a burden!!!"
 
Also,

if you had so many shipments to get out today, then get out of bed before 3PM and start handling your business. I go on about 2 hrs of sleep everyday because I chose to work a career and a reptile business on the side. I work a different shift every month and sleep all hours of the day. I am woke up time and time again by customers. It comes with the territory. Had I been you, the first time a customer "blew up my phone" and "woke my baby", I would have got up and handled my business instead of just ignoring it. Then you went right on with shipping and making more money instead of tending to the guy that sent his money your way a month ago. I understand that. There are alot of guys out there like you that are just concerned about the money but there are also a ton of them that are in it for the animals and the people they meet along the way. Those are the people that I want to do business with. Not the people that are just trying to make a quick buck.
 
that is why i asked him to post proof stating it was a freebie. if it didn't fit inot you breeding plans when he showed you the pics then i would have said no please refund me the money instead. i understand not gettin what you want. i haven't bought or sold much. just recently did thing get to that point this year for me, but i do understand not gettin what you wanted.

like i said, excuses can wait becuase everyone has them. i have never met corky, i will like to do business with him again because of how i was treated and there are not a whole lot of threads about him being a bad guy. this is the first one i have come across. you are upset and you have the right to be upset because you are his customer and you didn't get what you paid for. that is a given. before i even started working with reptiles i did a LOT of work as a customer service rep for a few people, like the navy exchange. so i dealt with a lot of unhappy people because of the way things are run.

i am just sorry that things didn't work out the way that you had wanted them to. on corky's side, yeah he should have told you he was sending a different dragon in place of the one you picked since the DOA arrived and but didn't happen. yes he sent you a higher end dragon than the one you picked but you are not happy with that either. which is fine. has he told you before he shipped it and sent you a pic to show you what it looked like would that have made you happier than you are now?

i only ask because i had to do the same is per my message before.

Most of the confo was done on the phone when we were talking about the dragon replacment and whatnot so it would be my word aginst his.

The point of the matter is i am more then happy to work with him and all of my customers but he HAS NOT given me the chance, If he would have contacted me like he said he was going to do i would of been more then happy to help him out like i do with anyone else that has a problem but after he said he would call to work it (weather it be a dragon even tho i dont think i should give out another dragons since it was a freebie OR if he would have wanted to send them back for his money) out he never did then i log onto here and see this.

The adult he got i didn't even want to get ride of and he would have been at the same $400 vaule as the other dragon (the DOA) He got a 100% het translucent dragon with tons of color and he was proven on top of the FREEBIE for a vaule of $260 and i paid shipping bad to him so i lost out BIG time on that just to try and make him happy. I'm sorry that you are not happy with them if you want to send them back i would be more then happy to refund your $220 shipping was over $40 on both orders. so please let me know what you want to do past that you dont want to belieave that dragon in the photo is the (sick dragon/the one you wanted past your adult you got) then so be it but if you cant match up the patterns then your not looking close enough.
 
Also them being brothers they would produce the same dragons so how does he not fit into your breeding project now when his brother would have his colors may be a little different but all in all the same kind of babies will hatch minus in this case you would be making leathers witch in my eyes is a bonus.

and stop with the lies?? We had 1 phone conversation. 1. That was when you called me the morning of the doa. I want you to bold face lie and tell me otherwise. That phone conversation featured no particulars about dragons whatsoever. You told me that you would contact me in a couple of hours when you saw what you had. This, ended up coming in the form of an email with my 4 options. We went on from there emailing. Stop already with the lies and the cover ups. You are taking a BAD situation and making it worse for yourself!!!

You just made mention that you would have worked with me, had I contacted you??? Are you serious?? Listen to yourself!!! LOL!! You sent me a nasty email because I contacted you too much and woke your kid up!! Are you serious with this??? Now you are saying that that is the reason that you did nothing because I DIDN"T contact you. Oh Corky, do yourself a favor and just stop!! This is getting more horrific by the moment.

And moving on to your last paragraph about how much you had dragons priced out at and what not. Of course you are going to say how expensive the ones you sent were and you didn't want to get rid of them, etc. This situation keeps reflecting worse on you bud. You still haven't even owned up to the dishonesty of switching out my dragons. Why did you choose to not contact me if you were doing me such a big favor by switching them??
 
As far as your "brothers" talk

, that is hearsay. You are saying that they will produce the same thing, I don't know that. I know that we put alot of faith into poss hets, etc but at least with the other one, that I was suppose to get, I saw how he looked and was happy with that. Can you not see that?? Let's break this down real simple. you promised one thing, then switched it out without me knowing, hoping that I wouldn't notice. Why you did it, only you know for sure but obviously it wasn't for the reason that you've stated (dragon sick) because it would have been too easy to just be honest, contact me and tell me what was up. You tried to pull the wool over my eyes and got caught. Dishonesty is a tough thing to shake in this business.
 
i am expecting a shipment from corky on friday... we had postponed it since last week because of the weather... he was supposed to ship out on tuesday, but there were some issues with the shipping company....he informed me of the problem and explained to me what was going on the whole time..... all of the communication was done via email and id say from the response time, corky has been very busy.... i think his customer service is second to none.... and after reading this thread, i understand that you didnt get the freebie that you wanted, but you seem to have gotten something even better....
