Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Diamond Den Terrible Customer Service

In business, you cannot make assumptions.

If the seller agrees to a price, then that is the value of the animal. If the seller initially priced the animal as a $400 investment, but agreed to sell at $260 shipped, then it is worth $260 shipped. That is value that both parties agreed to.

So, when the seller offered to compensate for the loss of the original dragon for one adult and one subadult that was the agreed upon value of the compensation package. When he chose to ship a different dragon (regardless of its "freebie" status in the seller's mind), it isn't fair to say that "He got a 100% het translucent dragon with tons of color and he was proven on top of the FREEBIE for a vaule of $260 and i paid shipping bad to him so i lost out BIG time on that just to try and make him happy." It doesn't matter if you shipped him all your belongings and a Rolls-Royce, you agreed to ship two specific animals and then did not.

"Making leathers" might not be something that the buyer is interested in even though this is something that is a "bonus" to many people. Any changes to the order should have been discussed.

It does not matter that the alternate subadult has more perceived value to the seller (or anyone else), the buyer wanted what the buyer wanted and the seller agreed to send it. Health concerns about the agreed upon dragons should have been previously discussed.

The biggest issue here is the attitude that the seller was doing the buyer a favor. He was not. This was a business arrangement and each point was agreed upon until the buyer received the wrong dragon with zero explanation as to why.

That right there is just a reason why

breeders like SUSHI DRAGONS are so good. Thank you Rachel!! You bring up another good point that I haven't even touched on yet. As far as leathers, I like them and they do have a spot in my breeding ventures, however, I didn't need this particular dragon. I already have (2) adult male leathers with the same coloration as well as an adult all orange leather and female orange leather. I have that part taken care of. This is why I had no interest in him originally when he was offered in the group of (4). Let's remember that. I bought the animal that I wanted. Unfortuneately, if didn't make the journey alive and we had to make other arrangements. Out of all of the dragons that Corky has, I was only offered to pick from a group of (4). My options were, (2) adults, one of which had absolutely no place in my projects, the other was ok and (2) sub-adults, again one didn't fit and the other was pretty nice looking and sparked my interest. This was the one that I was suppose to get but did not and he took it upon himself to ship the other that I didn't pick. His buddy Mathew Walker wants to come on here and blast me and label me "a pain". Well if I was "a pain", I would have never even agreed to these two dragons that were offered because neither equalled the original one I purchased in my mind. Instead, I understood the misfortune, how the carriers lack of responsibility had no reflect on Corky and I tried to do something that worked out ok for the both of us. It wasn't ideal but we were both ok with the deal that was made. That doesn't seem like too much of "a pain" if you ask me Mathew.

I understand where you are coming from Jeff. I feel as though Corky meant well, even though it may not have been a good choice.

At this point, Corky has offered a refund; what are your planning to do? I mean, I personally find any more bickering here completely arbitrary. Why not blow up his phone and go ahead and resolve this?

And just for the record, I'm NOT taking sides on this matter... just don't understand why it hasn't already been resolved.

I'm not his buddy. I don't know him, have never bought from him, and don't keep dragons so don't plan to buy from him either.

I said he was wrong to assume that the replacement would be fine without checking with you first. It wouldn't have taken long for you to get back to him and this could have been avoided.

I said you seem like someone who is a pain to deal with. You come across as someone who is always waiting for someone to try to screw you over. And you seem to need to keep spouting off about the same thing over and over and get upset when a response takes longer than 15 min or so. I mean you'll respond to this 4 times in one hour just saying the same thing over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over........

Funny part is you get mad because it takes a few hours for him to get back to you, and when he does, you say your at dinner and will get back to him.

If your not happy with them send them back for a refund or try to work something out. I don't see anywhere where he is trying to screw you over. Just made an assumption he shouldn't have made.

The truth of the matter is, unfortunate things do happen. I bred dogs for many years and if anyone ever had a problem with a pup I would always do the responsible thing and either help them with the vet bills or replace the pup with another one. Your never gonna be able to replace that animal but as with any breeder who cares about their animals you will do the right thing for the buyer!! My daughter bought a beautiful dragon from Corky and Jammie and I wouldn't think twice about buying one from them myself. Nobody is perfect and he did the right thing by offering you another dragon....as far as the shipping, very few breeders will refund shipping costs. Its a shame the dragon came DOA but unfortunately when you ship animals, especially this time of year you always take chances. You cant always guarantee that the heat packs are gonna activate properly!! I know Corky and Jammie will make it right cause they are good people!!!

So let me get this straight Mathew?

You think that the legit thing for me to do is to send the animals back which will cost me $45-$60, as I don't receive quantity discounts like some of the others do, and then also lose the $40 from the top for what he paid to ship?? So this means (as I have said over, and over, and over, and over, and over as you put it) that I would gain absolutely nothing and in the end, pay $85- $100 just to have a miserable transaction?? You want to say that I seem like "a pain" because I keep mentioning the same things over and over?? I am mentioning them over and over because the few that have came out to support Corky, can't seem to understand my reasoning or are skimming over it when reading my posts. So, I ask of you Mathew, would you enter into a sell of an animal and then in the end, through no course of your own doing, end up with no animal, yet still shell out $100??

What exactly is the Diamond Den policy on refunding the entire amount(including shipping) in the case of a doa? Or do they not have a set policy stated anywhere on this matter. I've seen it stated by quite a few here that "lots" of breeders don't refund shipping if something goes wrong and you decide to just take a refund instead and I have to call BS on that.
Nearly every thread I have seen this come up in almost everyone jumps up for the buyer stating they shouldn't lose out on shipping cost if they receive a doa and want a refund as it's the sellers "cost of doing business". So why Diamond Den seem to be immune to this usual stance is beyond me. I would absolutely never do business with a company that would tell me it's my loss on the cost of shipping because I received a doa.
Good business and good customer service means the customer walks away happy without losing out on anything. If anyone takes a bite in the ass over a shipping mistake it should be the seller, plain and simple. I know I would never expect a buyer of mine(if I were currently a seller), to eat the cost of shipping if a situation like this arose.
And I will also agree with Jeff's post #47, why in the F would he want to also eat the cost of shipping the dragons back on top of the original shipping cost and be out nearly $100? That just makes the situation even worse for him and better for DD. That's just ridiculous to even suggest it.

Aleria...

yet another person that is thinking realistically. Thank You for that. Let me be clear in this. I am not looking for Corky to do anything. Corky had his chance all day yesterday. He didn't make me a priority. He was too busy making money on other sales to be concerned with my misfortune. After he sent his off color email, first blasting me for even reaching out to him to alert him of a potential problem, then admitting to the deception but taking the approach as if he was doing me a favor, I decided that I was done trying to reach a deal with him and I took it to the boi. Upon doing that, then he had all kinds of time to discuss it with me and took the approach that he was just waiting by the phone for my telephone call. BS!!! If that were the case and too much time went by and he was that concerned, why didn't he call me?? He then comes on the boi and tries to fabricate other accounts of the deal. He creates this "freebie" scenario which was never discussed in any form. When asked by another member to supply the email which mentions this "freebie" he cannot and states that we had talked about it on the phone (which we had not). More lies on his behalf to try to take the heat off of him. I pull up the two emails were we discussed our deal and post them which shows that he lied about that as well. So, at this point, I am keeping the dragons that he sent as I would not for one minute entertain sending them back to him, only to have him make up more stuff about either the condition they arrived in or say that I too sent him an empty box or whatever he might be capable of. I didn't start this thread to make a deal with him. I tried that all day long and he didn't want to. I came here to share my negative experience with other potential buyers. That is all. We are past the point of any resolve as I do not trust him at all at this point.

Guarantee per the Diamond Den website

"We are not responsible for shipping fees, if you did not sign for the package on the first attempt."

As the video shows, I obviously was there to receive it, yet initially I was told by him over the phone that my only cash option was the $260 minus the shipping charges.

So no where in their policy does it state that you are responsible for shipping fees period, only in the event that you are not there to receive the package on the first attempt(which you were). I guess that's something that they may need to add to their policy then.

"Even if you receive a DOA or have any other problems that are entirely not your fault you will still be out the cost of shipping if you want a cash refund."

Poor customer service and communication from Corky. The live arrival guarantee is great but making your buyer eat the shipping cost in the event of a DOA is piss poor, I don't care if it's industry standard or not.

The switching of the dragons without getting approval from the customer was not a good move. But it was a WAY WORSE decision to ship in temperatures so cold. Blaming the shipping company is just a cop out too. Heat packs fail sometimes, and sometimes they are not very effective when the weather is so cold. Had you waited for warmer temps that dragon would have made it to Jeff alive and well. Hope you both learned a lesson here. Don't ship animals when it's below freezing!

Pretty simple ,two things occurred .

1.Animal purchased in original transaction arrived dead .
2.Agreed upon replacement was substituted without buyer approval .

What now needs to happen is a total refund if they cannot agree .There are times where a moral victory is not a financial victory .... immediately .It will say a lot of things though ,which could lead to sales ,or the lack thereof .That is the choice of the seller .

Jeff -

In light of everything that has been posted, it seems like the thread is at the point where all the information is out on the table. Diamond Den did the right thing by offering to replace your dragon after it arrived DOA. However, sending a dragon other than agreed upon is NOT the right thing.

So my question to you is: what would you like to happen next regarding this thread? IF you merely wanted to show the lack of/poor customer service, I think you have accomplished that. You have also clearly stated that you do not want to ship the dragons back only to be out a net of ~$100 (that's fine and understandable given the circumstances). So this leads to the next logical step of what is left to accomplish in the thread?

If you don't want a refund, don't want to ship the dragons back, and don't want to exchange it for another; I think the thread has done its job of informing the community about your particular transaction.

Excellent advice, and so true.

Thanks Kelli

I appreciate the support. As far as learning something? Yes, I learned alot here. More specifically about shipping temps. From a business standpoint, I would never consider shipping that cold and addressed this with Corky. I was advised by him that it would be fine with my temps where they were at the time of delivery. I still was uneasy with it, which is why I shot the video. I get at least 4-5 packages overnighted to me a week. I've never recorded any. This was the first one and that was because I was uneasy about it, yet he assured it would ship just fine. That was not the case.

Yeah, I learned the same lesson a long time ago too, only it was the opposite weather extreme. I'm sorry that dragon didn't make it; he was a nice one. I hope you get some sort of compensation for the mistakes made on the seller's part.

To answer your question ScaledInverts

I would have least hoped to receive an apology from Corky on so many levels. This hasn't happened. He came on here with the same attitude, as he had in his email, acting like he did me a favor. He then went on to make up further lies and deception and tried to create a false persona of our agreement. This was to try and make him look like he was going above and beyond and I was ungrateful. I know I Mathew wants to blast me for bringing up the same things over and over but I am still fielding PM's from people that are a little confused so let me say this again. I was suppose to receive 2 dragons as replacement for the 1 that was doa. This was always the deal, this is what we both agreed to. Corky came on the boi and invented the "freebie", trying to make it appear as if I was just suppose to receive the 1 adult as an even exchange and the sub-adult he threw in out of the kindness of his own heart and I was being ungrateful. That's not the case. Another member asked him for the documentation and he couldn't provide it, then told another lie saying that we had discussed that over the phone. We had not and I dug up the old emails and posted them which showed that this was done via email communication, both dragons were agreed to and there was no mention of a "freebie". When this was posted, Corky vanished. He has yet to be heard from again. He has never acknowledged any wrong doing thus far. He has the approach that he did me a favor and sent me something better and I should be thankful and his only way of making it right is being real cavalier and just saying, "send them back and I'll give you a refund minus shipping". To me, that isn't very apologetic. You be the judge. Does this look like the better animal...
