• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry Diana Carpenter, Maryland. Questionable customer service?

Ok, just trying to understand fully what's up with rich and haralds posts about the IP.

Just hope this Chuck character didn't lose any money. I wouldn't put it past them though to have dummy accounts to "buy" snakes to try to gracefully get out of answering questions from real customers.

If chuck wasnt a member of this site for a long time with like 90 posts Id agree.

As Harald pointed out to me, what is interesting about this is that her registration IP address is actually from Waldorf, MD, but the POSTING IP address is from Plano, TX.

I am STRONGLY considering making the IP addresses on any posts made within the classifieds section open to public scrutiny. That way everyone can view this location info to help give them another tool in their toolbox to help determine who they are actually dealing with.

How about having vendors who want to post classifieds ads go through some sort of verification process before they can post?

Like what? Answering 20 questions? Lol there's nothing that can be done except constant vigilance. This scammer went as far as to post a fake introduction in the New Members section.

The scammers are getting pretty slick and constant vigilance is a must so here are some things that can be implemented.

1) Verifying a vendors address.

2) Verifying a tel #

3) Getting a copy of a photo ID

4) References

Well that's a few things that come to mind.

Those are things that individuals must do, cant expect the site to do it. Also, not many people have references, especially first year breeders.

If a buyer doesnt want to be scammed, all they have to do is ask for that verification picture with the date or like card, some tangible evidence of ownership. My idea is that people should stop being so stupid and actually get comfortable with the product before sending money or rushing in to buy. I needed and wanted that bee more than anything, but I wasnt sending a penny until I got a second, dated picture. Its all up to the buyer. As a seller, and Ive said this before, I will do almost anything for a buyer to be comfortable with the transaction during and after. If I have to take pics of the snake wearing a cowboy hat, I will try to make that happen.

Due diligence, that's all that can be done.

True but not all buyers will think about asking for such proof but they should especially when it comes to dealing with people who have newer accounts.

And that's what it all comes down to. Buyer's not doing their due diligence.

They wouldnt buy a house without seeing more than just the listing picture, so why would they buy a snake after just seeing one picture?

A deal isnt a deal once the moneys gone and there's nothing to show for it.

:iagree: Sometimes these buyers get caught up in a price that is to good to be true and jump the gun without thinking which IMO should raise a big red flag that something isn't right.

This side discussion definitely has purpose, but it needs to be moved to another section of the site - General Business or Fauna Feedback, depending on what the focus is.

I hope no one thinks that I retired just to volunteer all my *spare* time doing something like that.....

:iagree: if I had to jump through all those hoops than I would have never joined this site. Yes it does take time for newer breeders to build some reputation but once you do its great. Besides all of those can be faked pretty much anyway. So back to the orig topic, has anyone herd from chuck or the op?

Thanks for a great site Rich!!
