    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Anyway, I think that reina is a possible key to the future of voids and how they are seen.

He's been enamoured of them and kind of hornswaggled by bruce over at cre. Now some of the polish is off that first lustre that something new and bright can throw out at us. Now he is getting more facts and finding out that some of the people who were first giving him facts were actually lying to him all along. Now he knows that there are REALLY bad guys out there taking advantage of weaker and less intelligent people. (Funny how it's almost always men, isn't it?)

I think that depending somewhat on how we treat him now and somewhat on what kind a person he actually is will have a lot to do with how voids are seen in the not too distant future. He does a lot of work to promote his site. Any publicity is good publicity and LOTS of folks know his site and his name.

This might not be a bad guy to have around. He may not agree with you 100% but he is not at all for the butchery of snakes. I don't think any of us have a problem with the surgery if it's done for a good reason by a vet.

I'd take him over cre and those cretins anyday in a debate or fact finding mission.
I think he needs time to prove himself out and I don't think he should be squashed before he has that time.

It's all good here and sorry for not getting the name right/connected with both sites. I may have it now, but no promises.

You are, however inadverdantly, representing voids as pets. You USED to be associated with some of the biggest scumbags in this industry.

You, just by your opinion, are not well liked by many people that feel it is tragically wrong to surgically alter a hot snake.

THAT is why. I think. IF you want that to change then you need to give it time and continue as you have been this last little bit. It's not going to be quick for many and may never be at all for some.

Your pet subject is a VERY unpopular one.
 
I guess we are just different Christian. I have read plenty of your posts and not all of them are nice and polite and alot of them are sarcastic and degrading. So with that being said.......

This is America and I can argue and make my point however I choose. Personally I could give 2 sh$ts if you don't like my delivery or tone.

Just ignore me. I am actually done arguing my point with you anyway. I don't think you will see things the way I do anytime soon and it is kind of a waste of my time. Hopefully someone else will get through.

On Chrisitian's website gallery there are photos with CRE and people free-handling venomoids. My opinion not very responsible.

Having just slogged through the last four pages that have developed since I last visited this thread (yawn)...hasn't the point been made?
So, this guy likes mutilating snakes...guess it's ok, as they have no rights as pet animals. Fine.
Did find the comment about allowing rattlesnake roundups to advertise interesting though...well thought out.

I just wanted to say I do not mind Christian coming over to TRR to talk about Voids. As everyone knows TRR was the first site to take a hard stand and say no Void advertising or classifieds. It is hard for all sites to follow as there is money involved and they do not want to put their views on it. But every web master puts their views into their site no matter how hard they say they do not. If they did not it would be a free for all. Get my point.

But I believe education and knowledge is a key here to open a door to prevent the danger of voids. People know I will speek my mind anywhere and I will not break the TOS of the site. But If Christion is for real their is knowledge to be had. There are articles that wil be coming out soon from some very well known Hot Keepers.

Am I uset at Rich for allowing that ad here? Nope I rarely visit anymore. If I was a paying member I may be upset. I see it has a very poor taste ad. That is only my opinion though.

But remember the path to knowledge is a rough road but once you are there it smooths out.

I think if you've reached a smooth point, you are kidding yourself, knowledge never stops. I believe as you do, that education and knowledge are key elements, but my perspective has education as a lifelong process.

I myself am against voids, but I feel it is outstanding for a site owner to allow members to make up their own minds. One can comment every time one sees the banner about feelings about voids, yet allow the freedom to post the ad. There are ads for all sorts of things on this site that I would never buy: voids, electric guitars (in the misc. classifieds), lobster roaches, spiders, etc. In fact, I would never purchase a venomous snake but I don't fuss if they are advertised.

Education is the key.

And going buy what you just said then the people are right. Where does Rich draw the line. What will we see next Porn sites? How about work at home rip offs? I mean we can chose not to click it right?

That is the point I think people are trying to say. At some point you have to take a stand.

It is a simplistic argument to say that freedom depends on no line being drawn at all. We both know that is not true.

No one is arguing with your right as owner of your own site to exclude anything you do not like. If you wish to exercise that power in reference to reptile related items, no one denies that you have that power. And, you even have the right and freedom to leave your site, come here and visit, and talk about your own personal advertising policies.

In one sense, Webslave has opened up an interesting forum for people who may not have known about venomoids...I am thinking of the newbie who has a few herps, but is perhaps glancing at that "safe" Monacled Cobra at JoeSchmoe's Pet Emporium. Maybe by reading how ridiculous, sick, twisted, and unethical venomoids are, he will actually take the time to learn how to safely maintain "hot" animals without having to mutilate them.
I don't agree with allowing the ads here...but, it isn't my site, and he is entitled to do what he wants with it. He is giving us a chance to voice ourselves though, which is commendable.

Just becuase a road gets smoother does not mean it dos not continue. But as you learn about a subject more knowledge is gained more easily(sp). I never said you hit a brick wall.............................
 
Are there hidden agendas here? Is someone using this forum to dig at someone else? Perhaps because that someone who is doing the digging has no other place to dig so? And if such is so, why, I wonder, is that?

If not then- move along folks, there's nothing to see here.
 
From what I see, there have been polite exchanges and perhaps some differences of opinion; although I think there is a consensus as to the necessity and wisdom of education.
Polite difference and exchange of opinion, and the exchange of knowledge, are part of the benefits of these forums, n'est ce pas?
 
Yeah I was curious as to the digging as well. I don't mind people sharing their knowledge and wisdom but as was stated before as a paying member I think I should be able to voice my concerns about was is advertised here. What I get tired of is people acting as if their line of reasoning is so well thought out that no one elses opinion bears credibility. It always amazes me how some put themselves on such high pedestals and treat those who disagree with disdain and are degrading in general. I don't agree with voids but I do believe that it should be discussed in the appropriate forums (freedom of speech). I don't see that carrying over to advertising. How many big corporations have pulled endorsements because said entertainer or athlete did not meet up to ethical expectations? Why would that be so bad on this site? I think that there is a line drawn in the sand. I garuantee you Rich will not allow pro-life ads, or ANTI-GUN ads, porn ads etc... He is taking a stand on those issues why not on this one? Anyways that is my ranting and I am just debating the issue it is Rich's site and understandably he can do with it as he chooses but one of the things I enjoy about this site is I can question he decisions and not be banned. I am allowed to agree to disagree.

The advertisement block that I purchased ended and I'm not planning to renew it at this time. Please contact the owner of this website if you have concerns regarding their advertisement terms of service because although many of you do not agree with my decision to purchase ad space, I read the TOS. I respect everyone's opinion on my previous ads and on this controversial topic and if I find myself stepping on someone's toes, I can always move. I do not think there was anything wrong with having a couple ads for one week and the best some of the members could do would be to simply refresh their browser; however, they won't have to worry about that for now.

I purchased two banners. One for the Hamburg show that ran until Sat and the top one I think it ends today or tomorrow. Anyway, there might be just a few bucks left on that one I think.
