In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Dishonest guy Jon Boone (User name Geitje)

ps. I rarely spend any time whatsoever on BOI, even with this thread, as I've got enough to tend to currently and considering holidays and my personal life. For those not paying close attention - that does not mean that I'm ignoring the OP, as I have animals coming in to choose from to help alleviate the issue with Wai/Ken.

The rest of the input here from those not involved does not really matter – which helps define why most people ignore this website.

The BOI works. Input from community members, their skill, experience, and questions, DOES matter, and helps to make the BOI work.

Site stats as of today:

Threads: 229,342, Posts: 1,217,124, Members: 86,684
256 posts in the last 24 hours, 7,858 in the last 30 days.

You can go to many reptile sites and see advice to prospective buyers to check the BOI prior to purchase.

Despite all of the (expected) Jerry Springer-ism’s in a “BOI post”, I’ll help summarize the issue:
Problem – honest mistake of sexing young P. rugosus. Some period of time later discovered they were not 1.1
Buyer’s objective – to breed P. rugosus at 1st available opportunity – late summer 2014.
Seller’s objective – to help supply an appropriate female in time for the buyer’s objective (or, rather ASAP).
Solution – people stop driveling over that which does not matter, and get a female for the buyer ASAP.

The rest of the input here from those not involved does not really matter – which helps define why most people ignore this website.
The rest of the input from those who are involved – can be worked out. I generally do not tell someone that “animals are on their way from somewhere” until they get here alive and well 1st. To help keep the “pipes clean” I’m not interested every single theoretical detail - even for myself. If the person is a known breeder, and not some gypsy living out of the back of their car, the animal will come when ready (and in this case giving Wai a free rugosus for waiting). Female P. rugosus are not setting around on FB, KS or any other advertising medium known in the USA. So, with live commodities, sometimes a wait is inevitable. Did I expect this problem? Refer to definition of problem above. Solution? Refer to solution above. The original poster “suffering” ? What is suffering? Having 2.0 P. rugosus, as opposed to 1.1 P. rugosus – when the only difference in breed-ability, which will not be realized until summer 2014? If I were in the OP position (which I have been many times before) then I’m only out a few extra insects for feeding an unwanted male, and free to sale (since I’ve offered to let him keep it) it whenever the female arrives.

Wai is afraid to receive animals during suitable and normal shipping conditions during the summer? In the same respect, I seriously doubt he could ship live geckos back to me.

Jon, a lot things you mentioned above are not true and just your point of views. Here is my suggestion I believe it will take care the problem right away, you send the refund to your good friend in LA, I drive there give him your two geckos and pick up the cash from him hand to hand, is that fair?

What do ya know....somebody not receiving the fluff treatment tries to discredit the BOI and its effectiveness. Like we haven't seen THAT tactic before.

Wai, I think that is a fair way to resolve this. That being said, I don't recall seeing in the email correspondence you posted where Jon mentioned having a friend in LA. Was this something you and he talked about on a phone conversation or are there more emails containing that information?

Yes, it was before he shipped the geckos to me, at that time Palm Springs over 100F in summer, he mentioned that he has a friend I believe his named Frank in LA, he can ship the geckos to him and I drive to pick up there since LA temperature is much cooler than Palm Springs.
I still have those emails in record, I didn't post them here because they are not related to this issue.

Well, how about doing us a favor? Climb back up into your ivory tower so you can look down your long nose at all us poor lowly grubworms on this site, and don't look back.

In other words, fella, if you want to come to this site to bash, it, hit the road. And don't come back. Join all those "most people ignore this website" and go wherever it is they hang out instead. "Birds of a feather" and all that...

Another crack like you made, and it won't be at your option that you will be exiting this stage. I will escort you out, personally.

Hmm. Not sure where? And, just to clarify for Simple Simon’s sake – a “Jerry Springer-ism” is not an ethnic slur, but rather a English colloquial for unruly behavior, whether taken positively or negatively.

Then maybe you shouldn't refer to gypsies as living in the back of cars on the Internet if you don't know what you are saying. I would do a quick google search and maybe some slight education on the group you just stereotyped and insulted. Every race suffers from poverty or has had to live in the back of a car at one point, but I'm glad to see humor at their expense.

Erm, I am rather taken aback at this point. Without knowing either party involved I was leaning to side with Jon as he was the highly acclaimed professional and Wai was an unknown so to speak. I may lean one way or another but I am never too proud to change which way I lean when presented with new information. I still don't think Jon was too unfavorable in his behavior... until he posted. Business etiquette dictates the proprietor of a business never lose his cool.

I think you are the one that has not been paying close attention. Wai has proposed that you send money to a friend and then he would exchange the geckoes with that friend for the cash. It is a well thought out proposal. The only problem is that you were so busy insulting the site and making ethnic slurs that you did not appear to see or at least you did not respond to what I think is an excellent solution to your customer's issue.

Just to clear myself of being accused of an "ethnic slur" regarding the usage of the word “gyspy”. Gypsy is also defined as a non-sedentary (not setting)/nomadic lifestyle – meaning someone who is always on the move with no fixed place for living/home, and using a car (or needing to sleep in it) because they’re moving so much is not necessarily a bad thing.

Gypsy is not a humanoid race.

And i would not respond until the 3rd party had agreed, with all due respect to that party.

I never lost my cool, and had no reason to, and there were no "ethnic slurs" either.

I consider telling users of the Board of Inquiry they have no business discussing faulty transactions when they aren't directly involved with yourself of the OP as losing your cool. You understand 1.) The Board of Inquiry only works if third parties interject and add their knowledge and thoughts to the equation. It provides a (mostly) neutral outside the box view to the situation and B.) The readers and posters of the BOI are your customer base. I don't know where you got the idea the BOI is disregarded and ignored by a lot of sellers but I don't see that as being factual. There are many vendors who utilize this tool as a reference when selling e.g., "Check out my Good Guy posts on Faunaclassifieds."

Ok, maybe my suggestion of a "quick internet search" was poor advice. If you search any racial slur on the web, I am sure you will also find an example of how it's most commonly used.

I understand you don't see what you are doing wrong by using gypsy in the manner you did. You ARE defining a group of people as homeless and I hope you can eventually see why I am bringing this up. I wish you good luck handling this situation.

Please take note of the word offensive and itinerant.

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/gypsy

Noun[edit]
gypsy (plural gypsies)
(sometimes offensive) Alternative form of Gypsy: a member of the Romani people.
(offensive) An itinerant person or any person suspected of making a living from dishonest practices or theft; a member of a nomadic people, not necessarily Romani; a carny.  [quotations ▼]
