Wanted to show off my latest DIY Enclosure just completed! I got this Broyhill tall dresser for free when I bought this house. I've been using it to store various things, but recently had the idea to convert it into a double snake condo. Remove all drawers except the bottom one that I can still use for reptile stuff storage. The top switch box was converted from one of the thin drawers. The floors of each enclosure are 3/8" ply topped with 1/4" glass so the floors are waterproof. The interiors have been stained with water base black stain sealed with two coats of Kennel Seal. (Using Kennel Seal was an idea I got from this forum). The glass floors are sealed in all the way around with aquarium silicone. I needed low profile light fixtures (one on top for the top enclosure and one for the bottom enclosure that fits into the slot through the back). The new Zilla Pro Sol light fixtures fit perfectly. Check them out! The mini halogen bulbs put out some good heat with fairly low energy draw. You can also include mini UVB bulbs and even LED plant lights into these fixtures. By putting outlets for the light fixtures on the cage top with front facing switches, I can control the light and heat easily from the front and hide all the wires in the back. The backgrounds come from Universal Rocks. They look great and are more affordable than I thought they would be. Check them out too! The top condo will house my baby Longicauda boa and the bottom will hold my baby Hog-Island boa. They both love to climb, so I'm including lots of branches for them.
